Part 28

Arnav stood outside Khushi's house early in the morning, he had so much planned for them to do, and he was so excited for it, it was like after ages he was actually getting to spend some quality time with her, and he knew this time was limited so he was going to make the most out of it.

He pressed the door bell and in no time Tara opened the door.

"Hey." She smiled brightly at him.

"Hey... is Khushi in?" Arnav asked.

"Yeah, she's in her room with Rohan, can you wait until they come out?"

"Sure." Arnav nodded as he walked inside and settled down on the sofa and Tara sat down opposite him.

"So how have you been? I haven't talked to you since I left from here that day." He asked Tara.

"I've been okay, at a time I felt the need of a friend and you were literally the only friend I had apart from Khushi and I couldn't talk to either of you because you had your own problems."

"I am sorry, you should have called me, I would have listened. Do you want to talk now?"

"No... maybe later? We can go out for dinner or something and talk?"

"Sure, sounds great. Just give me a call okay?" Arnav smiled, to which Tara nodded happily, she really did seem like she needed a friend and who could have known how being alone felt more than Arnav, since Anjali left and Khushi too left him, he had no one to talk to at all.

They sat there for a while until Rohan finally walked out of Khushi's room, he then walked towards Arnav and Tara and greeted them, after the greetings Arnav headed towards Khushi's room, he knocked at the door and walked in just to find her lying on the bed.

"Hey, you okay?" He asked as he immediately rushed towards her worried, she kind of look like she was sick.

"No, I woke up with a pretty bad fever." She pouted.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, did you take any medicines yet?"

"No, I just woke up and then called Rohan so he could handle my part of work, that's what we were discussing all this time."

"It's okay Khushi, you don't have to explain. I have learnt my lessons, I would never ever misunderstand anyone because of my thoughts, besides we aren't even together so you don't have to tell me anything." Arnav smiled at her.

"I'm sorry, I know you were to take me somewhere today but I don't think I can even walk, I feel so weak."

"It's okay, don't worry about that, all you need is to take a shower, eat and then take some medicines. I'll send Tara to help you with the shower." He stood up and headed towards the door.

"I can shower on my own Arnav, just help me till the bathroom?"

"Sure." He nodded as he rushed back towards her, helped her out of the bed and took her towers the bathroom.

"Don't lock the door just in case. I will be out of the room, you can call me when you are done showering okay?"

"Okay." Khushi smiled faintly, Arnav headed out of her room and found Tara and Rohan seated in the hall talking about something, not wanting to disturb them he decided to head to the kitchen and make soup for Khushi, even though he didn't know where all the stuff was kept, he looked around until he found everything he needed.

"You need any help Arnav?" Tara asked from the hall.

"No, I'm good, carry on." Arnav replied, he then pulled his phone out and called his family doctor, just so he could come and check up on Khushi.

Once the soup was made, he put it in a bowl and carried it back to the hall, where he found Rohan almost leaving.

"Are you sure, I mean I can stay if you have any work." He asked Tara.

"It's okay Rohan, you have to handle her work too, I will take care of her, I will postpone the things I had to do." Tara said.

"How about you both go to work, I am here, I'll make sure she is okay, I promise." Arnav said.

"Is she okay with you being around her?" Rohan asked.

"Yeah, we were to go out today but she got sick, so don't worry, I've got this." I assured them both.

"Okay, I'll pass by later in the evening to check on her." Rohan smiled as he walked away and Tara sat down on the sofa once again.

"You okay?" Arnav looked at her.

"Yeah I am, oh also Khushi had called you, I think you were in the kitchen so you didn't hear her, meanwhile, I'll get dressed and head to work." She smiled as she stood up and headed to her room while Arnav headed to Khushi's room with the bowl of soup.

"Here, have this and then you can take some medicines." He said as he sat down beside her.

"I don't feel like eating anything, I don't even have the energy to hold this bowl." She pouted, she literally became a baby when she was sick.

"Is it okay if I feed you? It's just soup, you'll feel better Khushi, plus you need energy."

"Okay fine." She nodded as Arnav started feeding her the soup and she sat there like a baby making faces every time he put the spoon into her mouth. Once he was done feeding her, she lied down and fell asleep immediately, he decided to wash the utensils and then he just sat down in the hall waiting for her to wake up or waiting for the doctor to arrive.

Today, something about spending time with Khushi felt different, although he had brutally snatched away her innocence, there was a bit of it still left, he could see it today, and it was the first time he actually believed it.

And it all just came back into his mind making him feel so guilty, he had punished her for things she never did, she dint deserve any of the pain he gave her, she was just such a good person and somehow he just took everything away from her.

At least she did manage to stay strong, she stood up on her own, and even started a small company, he couldn't imagine what would have happened if she hadn't been strong.

"Why did your mother have to bring you home that day Khushi, only if she hadn't, things would have been so different?" Arnav said to himself. He just hated everything that happened in the past and that he did, because it meant only one thing, that he would never get a chance of being with her ever again, not when he was finally in love with her and he knew he could keep her happy.

Sometimes, life gives us only one chances.

Arnav woke Khushi up when the doctor arrived, he did some check up and asked her a couple of questions and then injected her saying she would be fine by tomorrow morning.

Once he left, Arnav helped Khushi to the hall so she could watch something on TV, she had slept enough and she dint want to sleep anymore.

They sat together, silently watching Veer Zaara, she said it was her favorite movie and she liked watching it a lot, as for Arnav, he hadn't even watched that film once so he had no idea what it was about. He watched it with her for a while, it did seem good and the romantic types, just the kind she would like.

At around lunch time, he decided to make something for them to eat, he was hungry and Khushi too needed to eat as she had had only soup in the morning.

"What would you like to eat for lunch?" Arnav asked.

"Rice, I only like eating rice when I am sick."

"Okay, I'll make some." Arnav smiled as he stood up and headed towards the kitchen.

"You know you don't have to cook for me. I mean you've had people to do all that work in your house for you."

"I don't have to, but I want to. Now watch TV and if you need anything don't stand up."

"Actually some freshly squeezed orange juice would be great." She giggled.

"Okay I'll check the fridge and see if there are some oranges." He smiled as he opened the fridge, lucky for him there were a few oranges there, he got them out and washed them and then placed them aside.

He got the rice from the cabinet, washed them and put them on the gas to boil as he squeezed out the juice from the oranges.

Once the glass was filled with juice, he lowered the heat of the gas and headed back to the hall where Khushi was busy watching TV and crying because there was something sad happening in the movie.

"You know it's just a movie Khushi, you don't have to cry, and it's not real." Arnav smiled as he sat down beside her and handed her the glass of juice.

"I know, it's just sad when two people that love each other so much don't end up together." She looked at Arnav sadly.

"Do you feel that way about us?" Arnav asked as he looked at her curiously.

"No... It's different with us, you don't love me." She smiled faintly, she had no idea about what Arnav felt for her currently and he wasn't planning on telling her so, he just smiled back.

"So does this movie end on a sad note or a happy note." He asked trying to change the topic.

"Happy, thankfully." She smiled. Arnav nodded as he excused himself saying he had to check on the rice but in real, he just need to run away.

He never knew being in love with someone could have been this painful, no wonder Khushi was so hurt, she loved him with all her heart, and all he gave her was pain.
