Part 1
There wasn't even a day that passed without Khushi thinking about her marriage, about her wedding day and how perfect it was going to be with the perfect guy she had always dreamt of getting married to.
She grew up believing in fairytales, every weekend when her parents would take her to attend someone's wedding, and she couldn't stop wondering how her own wedding was going to be.
It was like a huge deal for her, of course she dint know when it was going to happen or anything, but she knew one thing, whom it was going to happen with.
Arnav. The man of her dreams. She had known him since childhood, he used to come to her house every day with his father, Arnav and Khushi's fathers were best friends, they would always hang out and that way she got to see him quite often, and spend a little bit of time with each other and everything just seem perfect.
Every day she would wait excitedly for him to come with his father or for either of her parents to decide to visit Arnav's place so she could get a chance of seeing him, her day felt complete only when she had the chance to see him.
Everything seemed to be going pretty well, they would play with each other, their parents would keep spending time together often giving them the chance to spend time together too, but then one day everything changed. Her father suddenly decided to send to her to live with her aunt in another city for unknown reasons and she knew that maybe she was never going to see the man of her dreams again.
First of all, her aunt was very strict about everything, she knew she wasn't going to get any freedom at all, and worse of all, it also meant going away from Arnav, how was she going to be able to do that?
She tried to talk her father out of it, she cired threw a bit of tantrums but he was in no mood to listen hence she was sent to live with her aunt.
She never came back home once she was gone, her dad would come visit her but he would never take her home and her aunt dint allow her to go visit her parents either, which meant growing up without Arnav, without seeing him at all, but even in all those years, he still remained to be her man of dreams.
Lucky for her, as Arnav came from a rich family, there was always a lot of news about him and his family in the magazines, so she would always get his pictures, cut them out and keep them safely in her cupboard.
Of course as she grew up and became mature, she did know that her dreams were just going to be dreams, it wasn't possible for her to get married to Arnav now.
He was now one of the hottest bachelors in town, he had also taken over his father's business after he passed away, and according to what she read about him in the news, he had kind of become heartless since then, he really dint care about anyone much.
So it was like all her dreams had shattered, obviously she couldn't expect Arnav to get married to her, out of all those eligible rich and hot girls out there, how could he get married to her? Middle class Khushi, who wasn't even as hot, she hadn't really even talked to any other guy ever because her aunt was too strict to let her even have any guy friends, so she couldn't even think about trying to woo Arnav as it wouldn't work.
So with time she came to terms with the fact that she can like Arnav all she wanted, but maybe someday when she was going to get married, it wasn't with him, and that somehow just broke her heart.
Then one day, as if destiny was playing it's game, Khushi got the most important news of her life. Her father called her back home, she was done with her studies and everything which meant she was going to get to live with her parents and could get to see Arnav again, what could make her happier than that right?
So she packed her stuff and headed home, finally feeling free from her strict aunt who wouldn't even let her step out of the house without her going along, she was finally going back home and she was going to be able to live her life the way she wanted now.
When she arrived home, she was met with the biggest surprise ever. She walked inside the house just to find Arnav and his sister Anjali there, they were seated with her father having some discussion.
Khushi dint know how to react, of course she was more than happy to see them here, it was like her father knew what exactly she wanted and decided to give it to her.
Arnav had grown up to be this handsome man, the pictures in the magazines did no justice to how he really looked, in real he looked like a dream, like her prince charming.
She stood there frozen staring at the guy she had always wanted to get married to withotu even blinking her eyes, that lasted a couple moments until her father dragged her to a room leaving her confused.
And then he gave her the biggest news ever, he told her how he had fixed her marriage with Arnav and he wanted her to meet him first and if she liked him, then he would proceed with the alliance.
As fairy tale like as it sounded, Khushi couldn't really believe this was true, they had separated as kids, they hadn't been in any contact whatsoever and now out of nowhere he was ready to get married to her, why?
At least for her she knew he was the one since childhood, but Arnav never really have her that sort of signs or anything, so why would he want to get married to a girl he hadn't even seen for years when he could easily get married to some model even?
Despite all the thoughts, she agreed for it, of course she had to, she loved this man since forever and if she had the tiniest bit of chance with him she was going to jump on it.
So her father left her in the room and sent Arnav there to talk to her, both of them had a short conversation, just how it happens in arranged marriages and their marriage got fixed. It was like a dream come true for Khushi, all this was none less than a fairytale, she dint even have to woo him to get married to him, what could be greater than that right?
*****
Fast forward to the wedding day, when she walked down the aisle, her eyes rested on the man standing right in front of her, he was in his usual mood, angry, arrogant and full of attitude. She knew each and every magazine she ever read, always described him as that and she had even realized how he was for the few times she had met him, he rarely even talked to her.
Today being their wedding day and her dressed up as his bride, she expected him to look at her, even stare at her and admire how beautiful she looked, but as for Arnav, he dint even bother to look at her properly, he just walked towards the altar without paying her any compliment which left her disheartened.
She was really confused, because he was the one that came with the marriage proposal and now he was the one acting like he dint even want to get married, she really couldn't understand what was wrong, but she dint bother much because for her this was something she always wanted to happen and now it was happening.
The priest wasn't yet there, so she sat next to him, hoping that he would say something, in moments like this usually the couples wouldn't stop talking to each other but for them it was the opposite, Arnav hadn't said a word and he was still maintaining his silence.
"Arnav... how do you feel? I mean it's our wedding today... are you excited?" she asked nervously, trying to create a conversation. She was always the shy kind of a girl, she hadn't ever really talked to guys thanks to her aunt now she dint even know how she was supposed to talk to the guy she was getting married to.
"What crap, who the hell on earth even gets excited about weddings? It's just like a normal day, a formality you have to do for people" he replied as he stood up and walked towards his sister who was standing far away leaving Khushi seated alone there and confused.
"Sis you seriously want me to get married to this girl?" Arnav asked his sister Anjali, he turned to look at Khushi with pure hatred, he had always hated her, he dint even remember since when but all he knew was that he despised this girl so much and now his sister was literally forcing him to get married to her, why would she do that?
"Yes Arnav, I still want you to get married to her" Anjali replied being a hundred percent sure that she was the right girl for him.
"God, I hate her so much, why are you making me do this?" he frowned.
"Because I know in future, this is the same girl you'll fall in love with" Anjali smiled.
"You better get this, I'm only doing this for you, because I can never say no to you, and about me falling in love with her is like saying February has thirty days, it's impossible! Plus you know I don't believe in this love thing, it's basically two people lying to each other to stay with each other when they can't do that, they cheat or get rid of each other. So I don't think that stuff like love exists and even if it does, I'm never going to feel it for this girl" Arnav said as he looked at Khushi once again, whenever he looked at her, all he could feel was hatred.
"Why do you even hate her so much Arnav? I mean just look at her, she's such a simple and beautiful girl, what could she have done to have you hate her?" Anjali asked.
"There is a lot you don't know sis, you haven't seen this world the way I have, and you haven't seen her the way I have." Arnav gritted his teeth angrily as he walked away from her.
The only reason why he agreed to get married to Khushi was because of his sister, because of her happiness, because he knew she wasn't going to stay much longer with him, and this was her last wish and he couldn't deny it to her.
A few months back, Anjali was diagnosed with last stage brain tumor, it was too late to even start treatment, but they did anyway, the doctors were very clear though, she had maximum one year to live, it was the bitter truth.
Since Anjali learnt about this, she knew she dint want to leave Arnav alone, because all he had was her and if she was going to die, she wanted for someone to be there with her brother and love him like she has always loved him, and the only person she could think of was Khushi, Arnav couldn't get why Anjali liked Khushi so much, she hadn't even known her much, but well that was the only reason why he was in this position today.
All he knew in his mind was, once Anjali was gone, this marriage was going to end, he was going to divorce her the very next day, as long as she died peacefully knowing she had done everything she wanted to, who cared about Khushi anyway, he dint, not even a bit.
