Chapter 40

AN
Guys I'm SO SORRY!!!!

I'm the procrastinating queen, also this chapter was REALLY hard to write.

On another note, PLEASE GIVE YOUR OPINION ON THIS CHAPTER. Like, I'm kinda anxious. You don't have to though.

This story is kinda going all over.

Also, this story is basically TWO YEARS OLD😱

I do plan on finishing it, but just wow, I've been working on this for years!

Also, early Merry Christmas!!!

Calypso's POV
I flew out of the door, my feet on autopilot, taking me anywhere else than here.

Sobbing, I wiped my tears with the back of my hand, only to come back with a smear of red on it.

But honestly, I deserved that cut. Leo probably hated me.

He probably regretted liking me.

Lost in my mind, trusting my body to guide me, I stumbled, and scraped my knee on the concrete and fell down onto the hot concrete, scraping my hands too.

I waited for the usually sting of a scrape, but there was nothing. I barely felt the pain, the external pain being overwhelmed by the internal pain, the pain in my heart.

I hated myself.

I had done the same thing to him that I had never wanted done to myself.

"Calypso!" A voice called out, followed by slaps of shoes on the concrete.

I looked up. Leo. I started running again.

"Wait! Calypso!" His voice took on a note of desperation.

I shook my head. I couldn't face him.

"Stop!"

I stopped right where I was.

His voice had been more than desperation for me to come back, it had been absolutely terrified.

Then I realized where I was. A car sped in front of me, honking it's horn, blowing my hair out of my face. It was only a foot away, followed by many other cars, going at least 80 miles per hour. It was the highway.

Leo had just saved my life.

He caught up with me, and then gently but firmly pulled me away from the road.

His hand on my arm was calloused and soothing.

I looked at his face, it was so relieved, and still scared.

He put his arms around me in a tight embrace, and I could hear soft crying.

I felt the lump in my throat grow bigger. I was crying again.

"I- I'm sorry." he said.

What? What was he at fault for? I- it was all my fault. He had every reason to be mad at me, but he had saved my life.

"No! No Leo, it's my fault. I left you. I'm sorry."

"No. I'm sorry for not holding on, for letting you go the first time."

"Leo... I should've trusted in you. And I- I know it was dangerous, but I should've held on. I did the same thing to you that I never wanted done to me, but has been done many times. I know how you feel, and it hurts. It was stupid of me to hurt you like that."

"Calypso... I understand why you did what you did. Anyone in your situation would've done the same thing. I don't hate you for your decision either, despite what you might think. I... I still love you."

I smiled at him.

"Thank you Leo. I still love you too... and now, maybe we can be together again because my father is in jail again, and this time permanently."

Leo's eyebrows raised up, surprised.

"He's in jail permanently? That's great news Calypso!"

He stepped forward and hugged me.

I stumbled back, surprised, but then fell into his embrace.

"Yes it is... and it's because I was the one who put him in there."

"You?" Leo's eyebrows shot upwards again.

"Yes... well you deserve to know the whole story." I took a deep breath, to prepare myself. "My father, when he got back from jail, he wasn't a changed man as most people thought. No, he was even more treacherous. If you saw him walking down the street, he would look like a normal man from the outside... but whenever I would look into his eyes, all I saw a murderer. I don't even know how someone like that would get sentenced only a decade."

Leo looked at me intently with his warm brown eyes, quiet for once.

"So he was home, and life was normal. Well, at least as normal as it could be with a murderer in the house. But the thing was, it was too quiet, too normal. Something had to be going on or something being planned. So one day when he was gone I snooped around his email. And I discovered... I discovered that he had gained a lot of money in a short time. It couldn't of been our family business, Atlas Maps, it had to be something else."

"Hold on, he named a company after himself? Sounds narcissistic to me, and trust me, I know what that looks like."

"Well my mother named it. They started the company together. Anyways, I saw where the money was coming from. He was in a business deal. But not like you would think. It was very shady. It turned out he was helping with transporting and selling drugs in the black market."

"Wait, drugs? How evil can this guy get?"

"The worst kind too. And I knew I had to do something. So I kept monitoring his emails and finally saw a chance. All of the business partners were gathering together to discuss a really big transport and opportunity. If this deal worked out, they would all get millions."

"Millions?"

"Leo!"

"Sorry."

"Back to the story, I called the police, and told about them the situation. They didn't believe me at first, they thought it was a stupid teenager doing a prank, but I managed to convince them. So I told them the location and time. I knew I had to be there to talk to the police, so I followed my father to the other place of the meeting. It was in a bar in the middle of New York."

"Wait! Now I remember I heard about this story on the news! That was you?"

"Yes. Now, I- I was curious about who else was in this deal, and decided to look through the window of the room they reserved. This part was the worst. Gathered around a table were all of my uncles. This surprised me, but the one I felt most betrayed at was my uncle Iapetus. He was my favorite uncle. But what comes next, well I forgive him. They were arguing amongst themselves. Then Uncle Iapetus looked like he wanted to back out, back out of the whole deal. My father pulled a gun on him. That's when it got crazy. The police pulled up, lights blazing. They bust down the door. At that moment, my fathers gun went off, but luckily no one got hurt. More people streamed out from the back, the bodyguards of my uncles, but the police overpowered them with brute force and numbers. It was a struggle. When they all got caught, the chief just thanked me and called me a hero. I didn't feel much like one to be honest. My father looked at me with pure hatred. I'm dead if he ever gets out of jail. Luckily, he got a permanent sentence. I'm still uneasy though."

Leo shook his head " I don't know what to say other than Calypso... I'm sorry."

"It's alright. I'm just glad he's gone."

I wiped my face of all the tears that I had cried earlier.

"Lets go back."

"Okay, but first-"

Then he kissed me on the lips.

I kissed him back willingly, knowing that I was completely safe this time.

Yours in demigodishness, and all that. Peace out!
