I was NOT a dumbass. At least, that's what I planned. The kid knew nothing.
"Honey, I have this handled." I stated, which was true. I still had it under control. "Those HellBitz are as good as ours."
"They better be or someone's not getting laid for the next century." She responded, putting on a tone that was part forceful, part sexy. She had a point. That would only be a punishment for me. Even if a century felt like a few weeks for demons. Alisatan left and put me and the kid back at the school. Not a second had passed. Good, the kid was waking up.
"Wha-? What happened?" He answered. "Last I remember was getting stabbed by my almost girlfriend. Which, not gonna lie, isn't exactly good for a first date."
"Alright kid, get up, you need to go." I said, dodging the question.
When we were walking to the kid's house from school, we were assaulted. A low-class demon patrol member who separated from the group. He had protruding fangs like a Japanese mask. In fact, a lot of him was Japanese. He was a Red Oni.
"Kid, listen up, you can handle this so long as I'm here. You have my powers." I told him, reassuringly. "You can do this."
To put it in short, the kid made absolute mincemeat of the demon. The Oni tried to strike, but he missed his one opportunity. The kid immediately teleported out of the way and countered, pulling Judgement Blade out of a portal hole he summoned. It was fluid and smooth, like a dancer. The kid had chopped the Oni into pieces, blood spurting everywhere. It all seemed so natural to him.
"I knew playing Bloodborne was good for me." He commented before walking on. As per usual the Blue Oni soon followed and he, much like his counterpart, was utterly destroyed.
"Yeah, really good for me." He added, ending it with a breath of relief. I forgot that the kid was playing that game. I understood the appeal to it, but why he still played after getting angry so much at it still baffles me.
"Good job kid. Knew you could do it." I said, like a proud father addressing his son. At least he could safely get home.
