|Knowing The Truth|

"Why do you have to hug it to sleep?" Elli felt her voice trembling.

"I feel lonely when I sleep... and scared. And she is my favourite among all my toys. Hugging her feels good. She was my only friend before I married you!" He talked like a innocent child.

"Your toys?" Elli felt extremely sick.

"Yes, I have many. Don't you have toys? Then what do you play with?" He looked confused again.

Elli couldn't keep it in anymore and ran to the bathroom to throw up everything from her stomach.

Sh!t!

She felt his presence behind.

"Elliana, are you okay?" He looked concerned. Innocent and concerned.

"'Are you okay?' Tell me you are lying! Tell me!" Elli shouted and screamed in shock.

Neil put both of his hands on his ear, "Why are your screaming at me? No one shouts at me! It scares me! Please don't shout!" He looked genuinely scared.

Elli was out of her mind. She picked the toilet paper roll and threw that at Neil.

"Stop with this nonsense! Tell me you are pranking on me! Admit it! Admit. It!" Elli screamed again, this time louder.

Neil put his hands more tightly on both of his ears and tightly shut his eyes. But Elli didn't stop. She kept on screaming.

Neil ran out of the bathroom and Elli followed him.

Neil looked so fragile, so scared, and vulnerable when he fearfully hugged the Teddy and laid at the furthest corner of the bed, scooted into the smallest form that was possible with his giant physic. His whole body was trembling in fear.

Elli didn't know what to do, what to say or even what to think.

She sat on the floor of the other corner of the bed and cried. Feeling scared, lonely, and helpless at the situation.

They were already married.

She is married to a mentally ill person! She is basically married to a kid in an adult body! Fuck! How haven't her family find that out? How did she not notice it before?

Is this why he was allowed to have only brief conversation with her? And they didn't meet before the wedding? Why? Just why they had to ruin her life?

Sob came out from within her when she thought about that.

At one point at the night she looked behind and found Neil sitting on the bed, still hugging his Teddy. But his eyes were on her. His eyes weren't shining like the other time he looked at her. This time they looked sad, and worried.

Elli never saw such look on his face. Till now, whenever she looked at his eyes, his face were always beaming in happiness. He either smiled or grinned at her, innocently. But never ever his face looked so sad and tensed.

Elli didn't know why she didn't like this look on his face.

Somehow both of them slept at some time throughout the night. As they were tired from the wedding ceremony, the flight, and then all the shock, it drained them out.

When Elli opened her eyes in the morning, she attempted to screamed once again because as she opened her eyes, she saw Neil looking at her from a very close proximity. But even though she attempted to shout, she couldn't as Neil put his palm on her mouth to stop her from doing so.

"Please don't scream, it makes my head hurt. I'm a good friend, I won't hurt you, please don't scream." Neil pleaded with genuine, caring eyes.

Elli swallowed her screams and lumps in her throat. There is no point screaming. They are the only people in the island other than the butler whom she haven't seen since they arrived.

"Aren't we the best and strongest friend in the world? Why are you scared of me?" He tilted his head a little innocently and asked.

"Friends?" She asked when Neil removed his palm from her mouth.

"Yes, mom said that from now on you are my best friend in the world, the friend who will always be with me forever, who will never leave my side like the other people did when I tried to befriend them."

Elli felt a wave of warmth in her heart at his words but soon she overcame her sudden emotion and stood up, leaving him there to freshen up.

But before closing the bathroom door, she looked behind and said, "I'm no friend of yours," then she shut the door with a bang.

When Elli came out of the bathroom, she checked her phone to call her parents. So that she could go back, leaving this joke of a marriage.

But there was no network. No. Fücking. Network.

She tried to use wifi but there was no signal found in her phone. Even though she had a cell phone and a laptop with her, she is unable to connect with the outside world! How fücking pathetic is that?

Elli hurried downstairs to find the butler to ask for help. The butler was leaving after making the breakfast table.

"Hey, wait! Can you please tell me how to connect to people outside the island? It's an emergency!"

The butler didn't wait and hurriedly ran away. Elli ran after him but soon she lost him. Sighing in defeat she came back to the breakfast table and found Neil sitting there with his head down. He looked like he has recieved a punishment for doing something wrong in school.

Elli didn't look at him anymore and sat on the table to start eating. She has been starving. What's done can't be undone right away, and also there is no way for her to connect to the outside world. What else can she do?

"You are very pretty," Neil mumbled as she kept on eating her pancakes.

"Did I do something wrong? I'm sorry if I hurt you," Neil muttered again.

Elli still didn't say word or looked at him.

"I feel sad when you don't talk to me."

Elli kept eating.

"I will do anything to make you smile and talk to me. I'll even give you Ginger Beer to hug! Mom said I don't need Ginger Beer anymore as I have you! I can hug you to sleep!"

Elli stopped eating.

"When you said you want to marry me, exactly what you were thinking?" Elli asked him.

"Noah said that a wife is a man's best friend, mom also said that. They said a wife never leaves a man. But I was confused. And when I saw your picture, I immediately wanted to make you my friend forever, own you forever. So that you only want to play with me, and no one else. You are so pretty, your eyes are so big and pretty, and I want you to play with me only, forever."

Elli didn't know what to say. The man is mentally ill. It's not his fault but how his family hid it to make her marry their ill son? Even though Elli was fuming in rage at his family, she also felt sad for this guy.

"I'm sorry, Elli. Can I call you Elli? Elliana?" He asked hopefully.

Elli sat silently for a moment before she nodded her head.

With just her nod, Neil was too happy to keep it in. He hurriedly took his portion of food and clumsily started eating. It was clear that he was out of the world happy that she nodded at him.

"Is there anything you said to me before marriage were true?" Elli asked him in voice a little louder than a whisper.

"Yes, Elli. I never lie. I always say the truth. I was taught to be truthful, so since I was this little I never told a lie," He showed a size of a five years old with his hand.

"So you do programming and help your father with the security division of his company?"

"Yes. And also develop games!" He grinned at her finally.

"So you weren't lying when you said you designed our wedding ring?"

"No, I never lie, Elli. I designed them! It took me fourteen days to design them. You are just too pretty, I couldn't find anything prettier to suit your hand! It was very difficult!" Neil scrunched his brows and looked like it was a very difficult situation for him indeed.

Elli looked at the man in daze and felt the words doing something to her heart.

For fück's sake, this man is mentally ill!

She can't keep crushing on him!

But why isn't her heart agreeing with Elli?
