Chapter 7- Daniel (Edited)
I glared in her direction and didn't follow. I didn't want to feel sorry for her, but I couldn't help it. Having your worst nightmares play out when you were trying to sleep was the worst.
I knew how bad it could get to live out my nightmares and hated it. I did not know what the thing I was dreaming had to do with me, but I knew that it had to do with this... fire burning within me.
"Come on," the older male said, putting his hand on my shoulder. "We need to get going. If I know Eira, she is going to want to stop by her adopted parents house and make sure that they are alive."
I shrugged his hand off of my shoulder. "I don't fucking care," I muttered in disgust. "You can leave without me."
"Sorry, Man, but we can't. We need you," Ralph said. He smiled sadly and moved a hand through his hair before grimacing. "You are much more important than you think you are."
I could kill you. "I don't want to go. I will call the police to tell them that you kidnapped me."
The man stood in front of me, his brown eyes flashing. He leaned closer to me, and I couldn't help but feel slightly unnerved. "Do it, and see what happens to you," he warned. He studied me, and I couldn't help but wonder what he saw. "You are having problems controlling your powers. We can help you control them. We just need you to come with us."
I pursed my lips and debated on whether or not I should go with them. "What are you going to do with me?" I asked. I couldn't help but be slightly curious as to why they wanted me to go with them.
"Train you," he replied. "Evelyn was... supposed to help but... Bane.." He shook his head and gritted his teeth. Anger filled his eyes, and I could see a small bit of guilt in them. "Bane killed her."
I blinked my eyes, surprised. "Evelyn Farrows?" I asked, knowing the female's name. She was the only person that I could trust, but one day, she left like the rest of them. "How do you know her?" I narrowed my eyes and folded my arms across my chest.
"She's a friend of mine," he replied. He gestured towards the car. "She is, well was, a Watcher, like me. I can tell you more later, but right now, Eira needs you to get into the car. I think she wants to check on her adopted family."
I wanted to say something but held back. "Whatever," I muttered and went to the car. "I'm up front." I stuffed up in my hands in my pockets and huffed. I did not want to do this, but I was sure that maybe, just maybe, I would find a place of my own.
🔥🔥🔥
The man, whom I had now knew as David, pulled up to a couple of teens before driving off towards a stop sign. "He is going to drop her off at her house before meeting us," he explained, catching me look out the window at them.
"You can see some of the Companions in the trees watching over the family," Ralph said, pointing to the trees. "They tell us if Bane is around. He hasn't been around, which Eira is thankful for."
I looked at the trees to see birds staring at me. I was curious about these birds, because I couldn't help but feel as if they were like Arzon. "Do they talk too?"
"They do," Eira confirmed. She watched as the car door opened and in came a male. "Henson," she greeted as David drove the car off.
"Princess," the male said. "Who is that?"
I turned around and glared at the new kid, causing him to just smirk.
"That's Daniel. He's the fire holder," Eira explained. "Anything to report?"
"Not since yesterday," Henson said, leaning back in his seat. "There haven't been any sightings of W's and the creatures have been laying low. The guards and I are making sure that she is safe at school. She wants to go to a school in Arizona for some reason but hasn't been accepted yet. I'll make sure that I will get into the school, also."
She sighed and ran a hand through her hair, grimacing. "I'm going to try and get this shit done before she goes to school in Arizona. If not, then our forces are going to be a bit tight unless we find the rest of the Holders and get into the worlds."
"You can always go to Linthia, but... you are going to wait until you need to actually go." He glanced at Raphael before looking at Eira to see her with a warning look and cleared his throat. Henson shifted in his seat and sighed, and I could tell that he was debating on whether or not to ask something. "Is the plan..."
"The plan is still underway," Eira replied, nodding her head. "You are still under my command until Bane is taken care of. After that, you are free to marry Janet. Just... don't fail ya? If they get captured again..." She grimaced and shook her head.
Henson nodded. "We'll make sure of it." He got out of the stopped car and looked at me. "Trust them. They know what they are doing." He nodded his head to Eira before shutting the door and leaving.
He said that I could trust them, but how could I trust someone that I didn't like? How could I trust them when I couldn't even trust myself?
