Chapter 11- Daniel (Edited)
I was in awe of her bedroom, but I made sure that she couldn't really tell. I was surprised that the snowflakes didn't land on her bed, and I couldn't help but wonder as to how it didn't. I knew that they were supposed to land on something, because I had lived in New York City most of my life and had dealt with many snowstorms.
"It's magic," Eira said, causing me to look at her. She smiled, but I could see that it was strained. She looked away and cleared her throat, looking at her bedroom. "This would be where I would sleep at night if Bane didn't attack nor threaten to attack." She stuffed her hands into her pockets and cleared her throat, looking away from me. Pain filled her face, and I was sure that she wanted to stay here. "Coms on," she said, stepping into the room and changing the subject. "David will want us back before dinner."
I hesitated and took a step forward into the newer room. The hair on my arm stood up at attention, and I couldn't help but notice the change in temperature. I didn't like it one bit, and I would rather have the heat of Arizona than this. "Is it..."
"It's not as cold as outside," Eira replied, shutting the door after I made it into the bedroom. She opened it again to show me that it was a "normal" closet and pulled out a long sleeved shirt. "Here," she said, handing it to me. "This should fit."
I hesitated and took it from her. My fingers touched hers, causing her to take a deep breath in and clear her throat.
Eira's tongue flicked out of her mouth, causing me to look her lips. She, quickly, took her hand away from mine, leaving me holding the shirt. "It belongs to my dad," she said, sticking a strand of hair behind her ear. "But, either David or Ralph uses it because it is cold for them. It does stretch, so it should fit you."
I pulled it on and gelt a bit better. The shirt was somewhat thin, but it stopped me from feeling the coldness of the room. "Aren't you cold?" I asked, seeing that she was still in a t-shirt. I didn't know why I was worried about her, but I didn't like it. I had to remind myself that she was snotty, even though it might be because of me and my attitude towards her.
Eira shook her head no. "This cold doesn't bother me," she replied, honestly. "If I go outside, then yes, I do need to have a light sweater on."
I nodded my head and rubbed the back of my neck. The silence between us was getting rather long, and I didn't really like it. I wanted to get whatever she wanted to show me done so that I could get away from her. "So... are you going to show me what you wanted to show me?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
Eira nodded and cleared her throat. "Uh... ya," she said. She shook her head, and I wanted to know what was going on in her mind. Something was bothering her, and I was sure that it had to do with either me or Bane. "Come on, we should tell my dad that we are here before David sends someone to collect us." She rolled her eyes and scowled. "That would be fun."
I cleared my throat and gestured for her to lead the way. I had no idea where we were supposed to go and I was sure that she did. Don't get close, I scowled myself while she lead the way to where her parents were. You will only get hurt in the end...
🔥🔥🔥
"This place is huge," I commented as we walked through the winding halls. I stayed near her, knowing full well that I would get lost if I lost sight of her. "How many people live here?"
Eira shrugged her shoulder. "Not that many," she replied, honestly. "The whole human population of Angesia could fit into the castle and there would be room left over."
"Really?" I asked, shocked. "How many people are there?"
"Over three hundred thousand at least," she replied. "Most of the world is uninhabitable because of the ice and such."
"Are you sure that there aren't more humans?" I asked, not believing that a world could have not that many people.
"There might be," she replied. "There are nomadic groups that live around here. It is said that they are blessed by the Goddess, Almahket, to survive the cold conditions of the world."
"Does each world have it's own God?" I asked, causing her to nod. "What is the God for Ranok?"
"Shivin," she replied. She cocked her head. "He has a nasty temper," she added, thoughtfully. "He is better than Garth in a sense that he doesn't let it control him. Using Almahket is the best way to piss him off. Legends say that they are a couple."
"Are they?" I asked, causing her to shrug her shoulder. "Have you ever met them?"
She shook her head no. "I think they are on Yervon, which is where most mythology beings live, but I am sure that they have moved. Garth is the only one that lives on his own world, and that is because he is banished there."
"Can Bane get there?"
She shook her head no. "Thankfully no. If the Gods and Goddesses know if someone is worshipping Garth then they aren't allowed in that world."
"Why?"
"For fear of dying," she replied. She held out her hand, causing an ice flower to form."That is why they need us."
"Why?"
She looked at me and smirked, tiredly. Dark circles were underneath her eyes, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was because a lot of pressure was put on her. She was the "leader" and the Prophecy Child, whatever that meant. "We are the protectors of the Gods and Goddesses. Without us, then they can die."
I frowned, thinking about the stones. "Then what about when we get the death person?" I asked, remembering the black stone. "Will they go against their God, or will they help us?"
Eira shrugged her shoulder. She grimaced, and I could tell that she had thought about this for some time. "I don't know," she replied, honestly. "I am praying that they will help us, but I don't know." She paused and cleared her throat. "Whatever the person decides will affect us all, and I am not sure if I like our chances without them."
