Chapter Twenty-Four

A deep rumble stirred me from silence. I didn't open my eyes at first, but my body slowly became wide awake and aware.

Two bodies were pressed up against me firmly, one set of arms wrapped tightly around my waist. My left leg was pulled up and wrapped around a waist, the right hand still lingering there; warm and tingly.

I opened my eyes, smiling a little as I glanced up at Xain and Connor's sleeping faces. 'So warm...'

The pain that radiated from my back had died down considerably, which I was grateful for. I also became aware of how light it was outside. The sun was just beginning to rise. A new day. New surprises. Was I prepared to meet those that the brothers called family and friends?

Would they accept me? Would they ignore my existence? Would they ban the brothers for imprinting on such a young, frail girl?

Questions continued to swarm my mind, rendering me unable to fall asleep again. I sighed softly, blinking a few more times to wake up fully.

When I shifted my hips a little, I froze. Xain and Connor had... Morning Wood.

It was to be expected of course, but they were hot and hard, pressing up against my flower and cheeks.

I was resolved not to move about, but when both brothers shifted, one after the other, I let out a small moan. I shut my mouth quickly, but the sound was too loud to simply muffle. Connor grunted behind me before chuckling gently. "Mmm... You're quite warm this morning," he murmured softly behind my ear.

Xain cracked open an eye, his fingers lightly caressing my thigh as he woke slowly. "Mm... Why the hell are you two up so early? Trying to get it on without me?" I blushed furiously and stammered softly, but nothing came out correctly.

Connor shut me up quickly by grinding up against me from behind, efficiently shutting me up.

Xain scowled at him and said, "Hey, none of that unless I can as well." He pressed up against me and ground hard into me, causing me to gasp.

"H-Hey!" I protested, "Victim in the middle here!"

Xain laughed softly, kissing my nose and saying, "You know you like it."

I pouted a little and said, "Do not, and don't even think I do. Okay, maybe a little."

Connor laughed softly, kissing the back of my head before backing up a little. "Today's the day," he said softly. "Home sweet home. I wonder how much has changed... Father always did keep himself locked in his study."

My face lit up. "Wait, I'll get to meet your father?" Xain grinned and pinched my nose lightly, sitting up a little as he yawned. "Of course, silly. And we think he'll love you too."

"And," Xain added, "probably call you a tiny human and lecture Connor on how he should've chosen someone like Charlie for having offspring- OW!!!"

Connor whacked him across the head while I just laid there, my face probably the shade of a red rose at that point. "O-Offspring..." Children?! I wasn't ready for that yet! I wanted to further hide under the blanket, but Connor wrapped his arms around me and said, "I'm not worried about something like that right now."

I huffed and asked, "Why does it have to be Charlie and why does it matter if I'm human or not?"

Connor smiled a bit and said, "We try not to create hybrids. Sometimes they have a deficiency and can't move about the way we do. That, and the mother, if she's human, could possibly die from childbirth."

I paled.

Xain kissed my shoulder and said, "BUT that's not what we're focused on right now. Nor should we bring up Charlie right now. Come, we should go on and get dressed."

I raised an eyebrow in confusion until something twitched up against my womanhood.

It just occurred to me that they were both naked. I looked up at Xain with a flushed face, and he merely smirked. "Like what you see?" he drawled, caressing my cheek. I shivered and mumbled, "Y-you both should get dressed."

Connor wrapped his arm around my body, pulling me even closer. "Now why. Would we do such a thing?"

I shivered and said, "Because I asked?" Connor's body seemed to have frozen up against mine. He then relaxed and removed his arm. "True enough," he murmured softly up against the back of my head. "Go on out so we can dress.."

I nodded, shivering before carefully making my way out of the tent. Light flashed in my face, causing me to shield my face with my arm. When I managed to stand, I lowered my arm to see Jean standing up against a tree. He was looking in no real direction. He seemed... Spaced out.

Or at least I thought.

After a moment of silence, he said, "I know you're staring at me."

I jumped a little before blurting out, "S-Sorry!" He glanced at me for a moment before shifting and taking off into the woods.

My mouth was just gaping open. Was he not even going to chastise me for staring at him?

"He doesn't talk much," Justin said from my right side. I turned to look at him, nodding a little. "Oh... I see." "He also doesn't care for females much," he stated almost absentmindedly. "Although, why, I probably can't say."

I blinked a few times before sighing. Great. Jean didn't like me, Charlie's distaste was obvious.

I looked back to where Justin was, only to find him gone. I was about to start looking when he appeared before me. I almost jumped out of my skin. 'So fast-!'

He noticed my shocked look and poked my forehead once, twice, three times. "Your focus is off."

I was as about lost as I could ever be, when a pair of arms wrapped around my waist. Xain chuckled from behind me and said, "Don't hold it against her; she is human after all."

"Hey!" I protested, "I may be human, but I can focus!"

"And a little small too," Justin added in, his tone almost sounding amused; even though his face was as stone as ever. I growled playfully, prepared to defend myself, when Connor said with a groan, "Human or not, she does feel absolutely amazing to cling to. I'll give her that."

I gasped. I was truly outnumbered in this.

Xain chuckled and said, "Relax, love. We're only messing around. Mostly."

"And that helps me feel better," I grumbled.

Connor suddenly stood before me, cupping my cheeks before I can protest. He then leaned in and kissed me, almost deeply. I gasped, tingles running up and down my body. One hand caressed down my face, my neck, gently gripping my shoulder in the process.

He then pulled away. I was so lost in the kiss at I didn't realize I wasn't breathing. Until Connor tickled my side. "Breathe, Lyra."

I inhaled sharply, blushing hard in the process. Connor smiled softly down at me; Xain chuckling right behind me.

Justin clicked his tongue. "You two will definitely kill her," he said in a matter-of-fact voice.

"Not if we can help it," Connor said, caressing my cheek. He then turned to Justin and said, "We're about an hour out, right?" Justin said, "Yes. And we'll be greeted by our finest."

"You guys upped the security?" Xain questioned. I frowned a little, not sure why they'd have to do that.

"No," Justin said before sighing. Connor's slight smile faded. "You mean..." Justin said, "I'm very sure. Prepare yourself." Xain laughed behind me before saying, "It's about time, damnit! Oh man, I hope he knows how to spar well now!"

"Like you wouldn't believe," Charlie stated, coming out of her tent. She yawned before stretching. "Ahhh, much better~" She said with a purr.

Connor glanced at her before asking, "When do we leave back out?"

"When we take down camp and when Jean returns," Justin expressed, heading towards the tent he and Jean used last night.

The brothers nodded and helped Justin and Charlie take down the tents. I sat on a log and glanced around, shivering a little. This morning was chilly, reminding me yet again that winter was fast approaching.

I started thinking about my brother, what he would be doing. He was probably preparing for winter. He was probably missing me... At least, that's what I wanted to hope. My chest tightened up at the thought of Matthew. Was I ever going to get over his betrayal?

"Hey."

I looked up, trying my hardest to hide the sadness swelling inside me. Xain smiled down at me softly, caressing my cheek. "Don't frown, Darling. Everything is okay." I forced a smile. "I know," I replied, "I'm just feeling homesick." I realized right then and there that I shouldn't have said that.

Xain's gentle smile disappeared, making way for a frown. He then sat beside me, taking my hand gently and squeezing it tight. "Lyra... If you're still hurting, don't hide it, alright? It may not be what we want to hear, but the both of us care about you a lot more than what sounds appeasing to our ears."

I nodded a little, returning the grip on his hand. Xain smiled and kissed my forehead gently. "Don't ever forget. We're here for you."

I nodded, blushing softly when I felt someone kiss my shoulder. I looked over to find Connor on the other side of me.

He stared up at me and murmured, "Your focus really is off."

I scowled and said, "You suck." Connor smirked at me and said, "No, my dear. It is you who sucks." Xain laughed, poking at my ever-reddening cheeks. "I hate you!" I cried out. Connor placed a hand on his chest as he said, "I'm hurt."

Xain snorted and kissed the side of my head. I smiled softly, only to blush when both men rested their heads on my shoulders. I glanced in the direction of Justin and Charlie, both who were staring intently at us. Was it that strange to see them be so close to me? A human?

Someone behind us said, "Stop staring." His tone was final, tight. Justin glanced behind us and said, "Just curious, Jean. You know you are as well."

Xain chuckled before kissing my cheek. "It's time to go, Lyra."

I nodded, standing up only to glance at Connor in confusion. He was kneeling in front of me with a soft smile. "Come on. On my back. You shouldn't be walking just yet with your wound still healing." I nodded a little, getting on his back and wrapping my arms around his neck. He held me up as he stood, nodding to the rest of the wolves.

Justin raised an eyebrow but didn't say much else. "Alright, let's go. We've wasted enough time already."

Xain grinned and said, "Let's go home." As I watched him, I couldn't help but to smile. He looked unbelievably happy; so happy that it was oozing off of him. I rested my head on Connor's shoulder, sighing.

"I'll lead the way," Justin stated, turning around and walking with a large duffel bag over his shoulder; assumingly his own. Xain carried our bags like the strong man he was, and Jean and Charlie stayed behind us, probably to stare down our odd relationship a little bit longer.

That was fine by me. I didn't care. I just cared about how happy both men were with finally going home.

Sorry, no angst or any really emotional stuff this time. Just good old getting along and growing closer.

Also, I went on a gif-making spree, so expect more of them to pop up. I hope you enjoyed the chapter! I may like my followers crying, but it's nice to just have fluff too.

Until the next Update!
