The Skeld

Red's POV

Once we were told it was safe, we umbuckled our seat belts. We'd been told in advance by M.I.R.A. that the storage for O2 on The Skeld was unstable and could be easily broken. They said it was safer to keep on our helmets, and the O2 storage would automatically fill up O2 into our spacesuits, that way, if the O2 storage broke down, we might have enough oxygen to fix it before we ran out. I wondered why they didn't fix it before they launched, but I assumed we were on a tight schedule. Maroon was holding onto my hand tight. It was his first time in space, but he told me he always wanted to go. Us crewmates have been training for years and had been in space a few times before, but we had always been a team. Some of us were close, but not all of us. Brown had always given us weird vibes, well, all except for Orange. They had always been kind to him, which I guess was sweet.

Our spacesuits were some of the most advanced technology I'd ever seen. They connected wirelessly to the alarms, so if something went wrong, we could press a button on the arm of our spacesuit, called 'Report.' The spacesuit was the same color as our names. Mine was a bright, brilliant red. We also had a backpack with various tools in it, in case of a mishap. We all met in the Cafeteria and tried to decide on what to do. I was making my way to the meeting place, but I was still new to this ship, so I accidentally went into Medbay. It seemed Brown had gotten lost too. He looked over to me, "Oh, you got lost too? I was looking for a map or something, but took a wrong turn." He said, laughing a bit. He... Didn't seem to bad. He seemed friendly. I saw him smiling from behind his visor, his shaggy, dark brown hair falling in front of his eyes. I smiled back at him and introduced Maroon to him. We heard some rustling in the vent. I looked confused and Brown slowly went over to the vent. They were to small for us crewmates to crawl in, so I wondered what was in the vent. We went over and lifted the grate. "I... Don't see anything..." I murmured. "Wait. What was-" Brown didn't even have time to finish before what was in the vent came into view. I was a creature like I'd never seen before. It was black, red, slimy, and sticky-looking. It crawled around, screeching a bit. I looked over to Maroon and told him to go to the Cafeteria and wait for us there. He left and I looked back to the creature. "What is that thing?" I asked. Brown shrugged, "Creepy..." He whispered. I opened my mouth to say another thing, but didn't have time to, because it launched out of the vent and at us, splattering onto our visors and cracking them. It squirmed through the crack in my visor and onto my face.
