Chapter Ten - Preparations
From the Journal of Alexander Achilleus
"Once we learned of the ALK's meeting at Mountain Glenn, the Faunus of the 13th Legionis Imperatorie would march on Mountain Glenn and wipe them out. But we would not be fighting alone. Due to the importance of this mission, a coalition of some of the finest Legions of the Imperium was assembled. By the time the coalition was assembled, we had enough troops and firepower to conquer several countries. As we arrived at the ruins of Mountain Glenn, we regrouped with other Legions to plan our next move."
Outside the ruins of Mountain Glenn, the Imperium Coalition assembled. The coalition consisted of the 13th Legionis Imperatorie, the Steel Legion, the Forge Legion, the Death Korps of Mantle and the First Legion. As the Imperium Coalition formed around Mountain Glenn, Alexander and the other commanders met in the Imperium Command Center to discuss their plan of attack.
Banesaw: As we speak, the leaders of the ARK are holding a meeting within this city. Our objectives are simple: go in and wipe them out. It is of the upmost importance that we cannot fail.
Cedar: I had IBD-016 download the old schematics of Mountain Glenn. According to the schematics, the Rebels will most likely be using the Town Hall as headquarters.
Banesaw: Then that is where we must strike. Without Broga and his legion of traitors, the Rebels have no means to predict our movements.
Caesar: That may be, but the Rebels have chosen a good spot to set themselves up in. The mountains themselves not only provide good cover for any Rebel insurgents, but they also provide suitable ambush points.
As Major General Caesar pointed this out, Alexander and the other Legion Commanders glanced over at the mountains surrounding the city. It was clear that the mountains would pose a significant challenge to the coalition. But Caesar was quick to speak once more.
Caesar: Commissarius Cedar. Have IBD-016 pull up the map.
Commissarius Cedar then has IBD-016 pull up a holographic projection of the schematics of the city. Caesar then highlights several areas within the mountains.
Caesar: Artillery strikes within these areas should remove the threat of insurgents within them mountains.
Banesaw: Where did you come across this information?
Caesar: I conducted several interrogations on several captured Rebels. They informed me of the Rebel encampments within the mountains and where to strike.
Alexander: Can this information be trusted?
Scarlet: My husband is not one to leave stones unturned.
Banesaw: Commissarius Onyx. I want your artillery units for fire on the mountains. I want those encampments destroyed before we made our advance.
Onyx: It will be done, Commissarius Banesaw
Banesaw: To ensure that the Rebels don't escape, I want the city surrounded. First we will have an artillery bombardment to take care of the encampments. Commissarius Cedar will then take her Forge Legion and batter their outer defenses while the Steel Legion's tanks provide support. Once the outer defenses are taken care of, the First Legion and the Death Korps shall sweep the western front with the 13th Legion and the Steel Legion will sweep the eastern front. All the while each front is supported by armored battalions. Let us ensure that this is the Rebellion's last stand.
With that, the plan was set. As everyone took positions along the outskirts of Mountain Glenn, Alexander met with Commissarius Scarlet and Major General Caesar.
Scarlet: Commissarius Alexander. A pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Alexander: The honor is all mine, Cisternina Commissarius Scarlet.
Caesar: Your reputation proceeds you, Commissarius Alexander. I hope your men are ready for the attack.
Alexander: My men are more than ready for this fight. Some of them are itching to put an end to the Rebellion.
Scarlet: My husband and I will ensure that your men will get that chance, Commissarius.
Caesar: Agreed. I've heard stories about the 13th Legionis Imperatorie. I am very much looking forward to seeing them in action personally.
As Caesar said that, Alexander glances over to the city. He knew that somewhere within this city, the Rebellion was there, plotting their next move. At this point, Scarlet speaks with Caesar.
Scarlet: I will oversee the mobilization of our armored units and spread them within our lines.
Caesar: Understood. I will be waiting your orders.
With that, Scarlet leaves, but not before giving Caesar a kiss. Caesar remained stoic in the face of his wife's loving gesture.
Alexander: You don't seem nervous, Major General.
Caesar: My wife is a capable military commander. She leads the Steel Legion with honor and conviction. Her sharp military mind is a rival of my own. But as a husband, I do fear for her safety. But I don't let that get in the way of my duties. I trust in her abilities as a commander. She will not let us down. Now then, let us prepare the men for the coming fight.
With that, Alexander and Caesar continued with the preparations of the assault on Mountain Glenn. In that moment, the stage was set for a pivotal battle for the Imperium of Faunus.
"After the plan for the Assault on Mountain Glenn was decided, I prepared the 13 Legionis Imperatorie for the battle to come. With the aid of Cisternina Commissarius Scarlet, Major General Caesar and the Steel Legion, there was no doubt that we would be able to punch a hole in the Rebel stronghold. But what none of us realized was that this battle was only the beginning of something even bigger than we could possibly imagine.
