When someone becomes a god, they're taken to a specific place. It's much like Olympus. It's a palace filled with gods, goddesses and even humans as servants.

If a mortal dies without believing any gods, they wind up there.

If anyone becomes a god or goddess, they too wind up there.

When Pride became a god, he met the god of gods who he now hates. Greed is pretty much the golden child of the gods and could get away with treating others like animals because of his importance. 

Pride was even treated as lesser because he was a new god at a time. The god who's name is Tarial wouldn't trust Pride with a normal task and expected him to fail.

When Greed came to Tarial saying how Pride was spreading rumors about his religion, the god of gods was furious but before he could do anything, Pride was gone. So Pride had to find somewhere to live as a new god.

The god of gods treat newcomers like this unless they do something he'd consider worthy.

If a god or goddess was seen as worthless, they'd be turned mortal again.

Once a servant was caught stealing food. So he tasked Greed to turn her to gold and she was sold as a statue for 'Charity'.

Once a god disagreed with the god of god's treatment. As punishment, this god was shapeshifted into an existing prince and stripped of power. The original prince was killed and replaced by the god and got stuck in an arranged marriage. The god of gods claimed he was 'Trying to reunite kingdoms'.

He'd do that punishment a few more times with other gods. Sometimes they weren't even shapeshifted. Just stripped of magic and offered.

He'd do these punishments to other gods too. He was going to decide on either these punishments or a new one for Pride, but he had already taken off.

Once Pride was walking and talking with Luna, goddess of the moon who had just came across a golden statue in the halls. "The craftsmanship is exquisite! Say... I wonder what I'd look like as a statue? Would they get my proportions right?" He says to her.
