7. Initial Interrogation
Naitik's POV.
"Hello, bro?" I heard Aniruddh's cheerful voice.
"Hey Man. What's up?" I asked a little curious and also a bit bored.
"Actually...... " he trailed of. "Naitik Bhaiya.... Aniruddh bhai is getting married." Sameer sounded so excited, he was Aniruddh's brother, but the news shocked me.
"What the hell? How come all of a sudden? And you broke up with your girlfriend just last month and you weren't even dating anyone... Who are you marrying?" I threw questions at him.
"Woah! Bro... Calm down. I am marrying ...Priyanka.. " he said after a long pause.
"Priyanka.. You.. " before I could continue.. Sameer cut me, the little brat.
"Bhaiya you meet us na, next week, in the night club." I heard his excitement rising, I shook my head at his antics. "We will have a nice bachelor's party with 100% fun and you can finish your interrogation. Bye." he said and cut the call before either or Aniruddh could protest. Brat.
I came back and saw, Grandpa and Grandma smiling, I told them about Aniruddh's wedding, they were close to him and Priyanka was Grandpa's closest friend, Paarth Reddy's only Granddaughter.
"Really? That's great." Grandma said. I turned to Grandpa expecting a reaction. He was expressionless, "What?" he asked when he felt my stare. "What you feel about it?" I asked. "Simple, it is, Naitik. Parth's business needs a steady heir, a capable one. Priyanka is just not interested in it. So I only suggested her father to find a capable groom for her, and hand over the business to him and make a 50-50 % deal. And we have seen how Aniruddh has stabilized his family business, so I suggested him. He is responsible. I knew it." he said coolly. My eyes widened and I could see Grandma was a little taken aback too. "You were behind it? What would Aniruddh get?" I asked. "Come on, Naitik, don't over react. He is inheriting such a good business. I can't sit back and see Paarth's business crumble at that stupid girl's hand." he said sternly. I shook my head. It was my fault to start this. But I could see, how much he missed his dear friend. He died 3 years ago, Grandpa was in shock as it was sudden. So before he could actually go back there, I intertwined.
"So tell me, What Grandma asked?" That seemed to bring Grandpa back, he smiled.

They both entered a nice cafe and settled. It was early evening. As soon as they settled and placed their orders. Navya spoke, "Hmm... So... I wanted to ask something... I would be very frank." she declared and Naveen felt a little tensed, what was she going to ask now? 'She is building up so much drama for it' he thought. But he confidently spoke giving her his charming smile, "Shoot."
"So, do you have any pet at home?" she asked and Naveen shook his head confused, this was a casual question. "Do you intend to have one in this life time?" she asked again. He was shocked, she is so dramatic, but it perplexed him. She wanted a pet? Was she trying to come to that? But he chose to answer with honesty, "No." he said trying to read her expression. He was relieved when she looked happy at his answer.
"Okay, then we would never have a pet. Because I have a dog and cat phobia. And I hate restricting the birds and fishes in the boundaries when God has made them to be cherished not confined." she said happily. He smiled, 'She is weird' he thought.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You thought I was weird?" Grandma asked, I couldn't guess if she was mad or just curious.
"Yes, who wouldn't? I mean, I thought, you would want a pet. Which girl has phobias or should I say hate puppies?" Grandpa said sarcastically. I agreed.
"Yes, I still remember how you denied me to have a single pet, all my childhood." I said faking hurt. She rolled her eyes.
"Okay. I don't hate them. I agree. It was weird. Okay? But guess what he asked me after that.." she said and that caught my interest.
"Hmm... About your dating life?" I asked partly sure I was right and I knew by Grandpa's smile I was.
"Cheating, Naitik. You couldn't guess mine." Grandma faked hurt and I laughed. But I could once again felt being transported to the cafe, a sunny evening, Grandpa and Grandma young, meeting for the first time.
Naveen realised that beating around the bush and asking the things, they already knew of each other would be foolish. So, he asked, though, he sort KS knew, about her dating life but subtly. "So, Navya, why did you settle for an arranged marriage. I mean, have you never fallen in love...dated someone?" She smiled. "I can ask you the same, you know?" she asks smugly. He chuckled, "You may, after answering..." he said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Oh God!! You guys are hilarious. Grandpa I knew, but Grandma, you too?" I asked laughing.
"Yeah... So? He could have asked so many things... This was important Because.. Whenever you do something the reason behind is important but, immediately it was a little to early. So, I wished to see his gentlemanliness, like, oh, you don't need to say, if you're uncomfortable but.. " she was smiling.
"But... I am no Gentleman. So I wanted to know what I wanted to." Grandpa completed for her and I couldn't wait to know her answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay... So, I don't believe in falling in love and all... "Navya said reading Naveen's expression. And satisfied by his semi-shocked one, she continued, "I believe that when you fall in love, you also fall out of love and love is not something to fall in. One should raise in love, not fall. So... To answer your question I have never fallen in love, because I don't believe in such a concept only. Naveen was shocked. He was the one, who never did 'Love'. But he wanted her to love him and now that she had spoken such, he was crestfallen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Pttf....Grandma, you lied!! You always speak about how great love is and how it teaches people to sacrifice." I said and she calmly nodded.
"I didn't lie." I was shocked.
