Mini-Shot 1

4th December 2016,

A 21- year- old Jassi gazed at his Virat Bhaiya fussing over how  the parcel he had sent  for Jaddu Bhaiya's birthday had gone missing.

He couldn't help but think about his own birthday that he shared with Jaddu Bhaiya. He is 200% sure that Virat Bhaiya had forgotten his birthday.

Sighing internally (if that's even possible) Jassi said "Calm down Virat Bhaiya, I'll contact the seller now."

"NOOOO DON'T! I'LL DO IT!" Virat exclaimed knocking the phone out of Jassi's hands.

"Ok ok! you do it," Jassi giggled taken aback by Virat's ballistic behavior.

"Now shooo, I've got something to do," Virat said and Jassi ran away completely confused.

**Time skip**

Jassi is lying in his room upset and after the mini fiasco with Virat Bhaiya he is even more sure that they'd do nothing for his birthday.

Hardik chose that very moment to burst open the door and yell
JASSI.

"What d'you want Hardik?" He asked in an amused tone.

"Humph can't I just come to see you?" Harry asked back in a fake offended tone.

"Definitely not!" Jassi teased back making Harry mutter something about idiotic friends.

Jassi burst out into fits of laughter making Harry groan even more.

"Anyways I came to ask what  do you want for your birthday," Harry said sounding sensible for once in his life.

"Urm-I don't know?" Jassi said back being gloomy all of a sudden.

"Right then I'll just go ask Cap Vi it Cap Ro, they'll know," Harry exclaimed almost running out the room.

"NO! DON'T!" Jassi yelled.

"Urm why?"

"They don't know,"

"What d'you mean they don't know? Of course they know!"

"No they don't!"

"Eh I'll go tell them anyway" Harry replied smirking.

And he ran out with such a speed , one would've thought he had super speed.

**Time skip again**

5th December 2016
Night 11:50 pm

It is gonna be Jassi's birthday in 10 minutes but he is sure he'd be spending it alone.

Suddenly his phone chimed with a message from Ro Bhaiya asking him to come onto the terrace of their hotel.

Sulkingly, he climbed the stairs of the hotel to be welcomed by a huge yell of

"SURPRISE!"

"I- I - urm," Jassi stammered only to be  attacked with cake.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" the team screeched in chorus.

"You really thought we forgot," Virat asked teasingly.

Jassi smiled sheepishly.

2009:

It's been just 10 months that he entered into this star filled Indian dressing room..Ravindra Jadeja was awestruck initially around all of them...His first match itself sharing the dressing room with legends of the game whom he had watched growing up...That first half century of his in debut match itself...He remembered his nerves pulsating out of nervousness and joy..It still gives him goosebumps thinking that first day he entered the room ,seeing Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh(his idol,he had always wanted to be an all-rounder like yuvraj),the joy and also the tension he felt especially after he heard his veer sharing his experiences of the first day in 2008 where they asked him to go and do maata tekhna of paaji..So,he was completely statued in front of them and after playing 2 series already, it didn't seem to have gone down even a bit...Even now,he becomes that starry eyed fanboy and is unable to move whenever he sees anyone of them..

And being Frank none of them  tried to disturb him also much...Each one of them had their own things and issues to look after and losing both the series he played in these 10 months also didn't help..The dressing room is a bit gloomy not allowing the necessary break the ice moment to happen yet...But he can't really blame them alone ryt??He is also being a recluse if he can say and is staying confined to his room except for the practise sessions,the necessary food breaks(sometimes that also ordering over phone) and spending his day talking to veer and mani...

So,he is perplexed and shocked after opening the door due to continuous knocking when he saw almost an entire team infront of  his door at midnight with a cake wishing him a very happy birthday...The celebration is one of the most subdued ones he had coz if  his mani and veer were there he would have been surely covered in a cake facial by now..But his seniors were so respectful,awkward and very mindful of the boundaries that they chose to feed him the cake very decently...Once,the seniors left there are three ppl in the room  who just sat , spoke with him throughout the entire night and that is the start of a  prankster jodi(Yuvi pa and jadeja),a life long friendship(jad and Raina)and that is when a certain Dhoni also silently vowed to himself to look after this guy who has a strong facade of not letting his emotions out but in truth a very emotional guy....

2017:

Everyone have  just retired to thier rooms after a busy day  except some players.

They are discussing, to be precise , making plans for Jassi's b'day . Mahi Bhai is busy on call with his Cheeku cross checking whether the gifts he had send for Jaddu and with Jaddu has reached or not . While Rohit is making sure that he makes his first kiddo's b'day memorable ..

But amidst all this , there is a curious soul who is upset because 6th December is even his b'day but luck has it  no one knows about this ..Or  Atleast that  is what he thinks..

After helping with the b'day preparation for Jassi, he vehemently retired to his room as he is feeling  so lonely and upset. It's not his fault or their fault that no one knows his birthday.. Why will they , what has he done that they will remember his birthday.. He is just a new comer who has not even played a match in this format.

He is thinking all these when his phone rang bringing him out of his thoughts .. It is Shresta, his sister on the other side. She wished him "Happy birthday " because she is in London and according to UK time, his birthday has already began. She asked him about his birthday plans . He is about to say but just then Rahul walked into his room as if he owned it ,asking him to come onto the  terrace to surprise Jassi.

Having no other option , Shreyas walked with him. He and Rahul entered the terrace together. But just as he entered , someone pushed him and he bumped with something. Before he could react , a spotlight fell on him and it is  revealed that he had bumped into Jassi. He is confused why is he in the middle because yha toh sirf Jass ko hona tha. And that is when at the correct moment, Everyone comes out wishing both of them a Very Happy Birthday.

Jassi's POV

December was always a very eventful month for us, the Indian Cricket Team. So many birthdays and so many events to look forward to.

Although it is during Covid-19, we have managed to make Shiki Bhai's birthday a blast.

Despite Shiki Bhai refusing, all of us have smashed a whole large cake on his face at 12:00 am sharp and winning the match the day before had just boosted our excitement.

After drowning Bhai in cake and dancing to a number of Punjabi hits (Virat Bhaiya's choice), we all retired to our rooms.

11:00 pm

I sat there in the room thinking about tomorrow, the match and our birthdays.

It's never just been my birthday. It's always been our birthday. And I wouldn't want it any other way.

Jad Bhai is always the funniest and the craziest though Hardik gives him tight competition. Sometimes it's scary to be around Jad Bhai, you never know when he's about to pull a prank. Not to mention him and his Jamnagar stories - sometimes I can't help but think they're true!

Reyu - yes Reyu. The whole team picked up on the name quickly after Virat Bhaiya started calling him that. Reyu is always the most enthusiastic and cheerful about everything. He never seemed to be upset or atleast he doesn't show it. Always ready to cheer everyone up with his mischievous antics.

Shikhi Bhai is the energetic kid in the body of a grown up. Sometimes Zoraver is more mature than he is 😂. Shiki Bhai is always so fun to be around. Although we don't share a birthday it's never felt like that with the team. With us it's, your birthday is my birthday!

We always have a blast as a team. Some people don't like sharing a birthday I find it all the better!

I sat there thinking about all this when I realised that this is the first season all 4 of us are together on our birthday.

I kinda wanted to be the first to wish my birthday sharers. They'll always be really special to me. And so I decided when we meet I will be the first regardless what others do.

Never knew where the time had flew, but Harry, Kul and Yuzi had come and dragged me to the terrace.

Jaddu's pov:

His combined delayed concussion and hamstring seemed to have a lasting affect than what he thought...And to be precise the fussing around him from two protective motherhens namely Mr.Manish Krishnanand Pandey and Mr.Virat Prem Kohli and his  wife Mrs.Reeva Solanki Jadeja is inducing him an even more headache than his concussion...He wanted to shout loud to them that it's just a concussion and he is not dead...yet..But he doesn't want to die ..that too just 2 days before his birthday..So,he knew it's better to chup chap and let them do their work...

The next day night,he is playing with Nidhu in his room saying "Jad bhaiyya aapko physio sir bula rahe hai"

Jaddu handing over Nidhu to Reeva wondered firse physio usko kyun bula rahe hai as yesterday itself the scans were taken and reports made it very clear he can't play in the T20 series and his participation even in  the first test is also doubtful ..May be they came to know the degree of hamstring strain and physio wanted to inform him the same thought jaddu ...He left with kul without any qualms..But kul had other plans...He dragged Jaddu on to the terrace through the longest and most unsuspected route that is possible  where half of Ict was already present...By that time even Riva and Nidhu are also present there...

Shreyas pov:

Shreyas is sitting in his room thinking about all the recent things that have happened..He had read all those tweets , how people are trolling him , how people want Mani bhaiya instead of him.

He is thinking all these when Aadhya , Ashwin's elder daughter walked in the room saying "Shrey chachu , I want to see the magic trick. You promised ki aap mujhe sikhaoge ".

" Done bacha..Come here , me sikhata Hu apko magic tricks" Shreyas said.

" Did anyone say magic tricks , Reyu bhai mujhe bhi sikhna h" Rishabh said  , who is sitting nearby playing with Arya.

" Okay bro.. mein sikhata Hu but konsa sikhna h" Shreyas asked.

" Woh wali jisme aap blanket se Gayab hote ho" Aadhya said .

" Done " Shreyas said taking the blanket. Just as he entered  and he opened his eyes he found himself on the terrace ekdum...Asal mein yeh hua ki he was  lifted and dragged as soon as he entered the blanket by Ash bhaiyya and Rishu..

JASS POV:

Minutes later I saw Reyu and Jad Bhai being dragged up too. As soon as clock hit 12 I pounced upon them - much unlike myself- yelling

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAD BHAI! HAPPY BIRTHDAY REYU!"

It seemed like my birthday twins had the same idea because they pounced back onto me yelling the same back while I laughed heartily.

"Can we say Happy Birthday too!" Virat Bhaiya exclaimed in fake annoyance making us laugh.

The night ended with another cake smash and us partying and video calling Ro Bhaiya  and Bhuvi Bhaiya.

When the party seemed to die down a bit I snuck up to Jad Bhai, Reyu and Shiki Bhai and whispered lovingly

"I love sharing my birthday with you guys. My birthday is never the same without you. Happy birthday!!"

We all shared a bear hug - yes even Jad Bhai!

Before retiring back to our rooms I pulled Jad Bhai aside and said "I don't know if I'll play tomorrow or not but if I do it's for you and Reyu," and Reyu very much resonated the same with the only difference being it will be for Jaddu nd Jassi..

Jad bhai gave me a big wide Jaddu wala grin and ruffled my hair.

Definitely the best birthday ever! And I have a feeling it'll get even better!

The last lines are uttered loudly by me unknowingly and Reyu joined me saying "Yes...it will"....
