I hummed to myself as I wandered out of the prison, staying in the shadows to avoid the guards who were just starting to wake up. I sighed as I realized that I had no solid plan of what I wanted to do next; I knew that my fellow sins could handle themselves, but I really didn't want to just abandon them.

I slowly walked back towards the town and considered my options; I go and find King, hopefully talking him into believing me, that wouldn't be hard since we had that connection through Durendal. I could stay and watch what happens here, possible offer my support, and then hope that Ban could convince Meliodas and Diane that I wasn't the threat they were making me out to be. The final option I wanted to consider was the fact that I could leave my friends behind and go to do some spying on the kingdom, get on the inside and find out what was really happening.

To be honest, I really didn't like any of these options, because two of them left me standing by and being passive, while the third took me away from people I had cared for, for so long; which was the last thing I wanted.

 My thoughts were interrupted by a large swarm of bugs leaving the prison and heading straight towards the town. "Well, this could get messy." I said quietly to myself and summoned Durendal, "Mist body" I said and then flew up into the clouds to get a better read on the situation.

I saw the town being mobbed by these bugs, all of whom were spitting what appeared to be acid, 'How bothersome, the knights couldn't have been kinder on the people they are supposed to be protecting?' I wanted to sigh to myself, but simply flew into the town and spread my mist over the bugs as pillars of earth sprang up, killing a good portion of the assailants.

'Ah, I had forgotten that Diane hates bugs with a burning passion, this won't do, now will it.' I immediately manipulated the mist to kill the rest of the bugs that hadn't been squashed already 'Oh you young Holy Knights, just stop trying; you think you're so amazing, but any one of the Eight Deadly Sins could wipe you out without even using a sacred treasure. You poor sad fools.' I reformed on top of one of the pillars and watched as Diane jumped towards the prison.

I waved at her retreating figure and then turned my attention towards protecting the villagers from the Knights, the bugs made it obvious that the Knights could care less about any casualties. Beyond that, I could still feel the presence of another Knight in town, which didn't sit well with me.

I decided to wait for trouble and contacted King, "Hey Grizzly's Sin, how have things been going?"

"Janis." I could feel the reluctance behind his words, which made chuckle a bit

"Who else would be contacting you like this you goof, of course, it's me."

"Well, security has increased a hundred-fold since you came back and Gilthunder is keeping an annoyingly close eye on me. What did you do to the man, I can't decide if he's overjoyed by something, or absolutely ticked."

"Probably a bit of both. We talked for a bit, and then I beat the crap out of him and used my Banshee's Screech. I had forgotten how much I missed my little brother."

There was silence for a few seconds, "You scare me sometimes Janis."

"I'll take that as a compliment. Listen, we might be headed your way in a day or two, so more likely than not, I'll be there soon enough ahead of everyone else. We have things we need to talk about that need to be discussed in person."

"Okay, I'll be there, but don't expect too much from me, I'm on a personal mission that requires all of my attention."

"Hmm, I guess that's okay, but you have to tell me what's going on when we see each other again."

"...We'll see."

With that, the connection was severed and I went back to surveying the town

"Testing, testing. One two three."

My eyes widened in shock and then I nearly burst out laughing, "Ban?"

"Hey there short stuff, I just had a quick question."

"Shoot."

"If you were to give me a haircut, how much would you take off? I have a substitute barber here and I wanted some advice."

"Well, you pretty much looked like a hermit, so I would take off a lot, no facial hair though, okay?"

"You sure? I'm pretty sure a handlebar mustache would look smoking on me."

"You mean smoking as in how it will smoke when I burn it off?"

I could feel the grimace he gave me at this point, "Point taken, no facial hair. You scare me sometimes short stuff."

"Surprisingly, you aren't the first one to tell me that today! Anyways, I'll see you soon hopefully, and good luck with the haircut." I severed the connection and took a second to laugh, life with Ban around was never boring.

 I went back to searching for magic usage and suddenly felt a familiar spike outside of town, Meliodas and Diane, what's going on?

I flew to where they were and saw the two fighting like there was no tomorrow, 'Great time to have a disagreement, guys' I sarcastically thought to myself, then I noticed something weird, they were both talking like they were fighting a Holy Knight, Rune or something. Plus, when I looked at their eyes, I saw how empty they were, almost like they weren't seeing what was right in front of them. "Well, crap!" I exclaimed then began to look for the source of this magic.

As I approached the origin of the magic, I saw Elizabeth being smacked across the face hard by a man in robes. I went in to take this jerk out when he started talking, "Out of consideration for your bravery Princess, I will tell you something before I kill you, the source of my hypnotic suggestion comes from the bell here, on my staff." He raised his staff proudly then froze as I began giggling, "What the, where did it go?"

He looked around, then his attention was drawn to Elizabeth as she spat a small bell out of her mouth before passing out, "That's my girl" I said quietly. Ruin, the knight, began cursing at her and then ran to deal her a finishing blow, I was about to jump in and help when I saw Meliodas jumping in to help. I sat back and watched as he lovingly stroked her cheek.

He was whipped and he didn't even realize it, oh this would be fun to watch, especially since she was so oblivious. Meliodas then turned to Ruin with an evil look in his eye and tossed him away to the prison. I obviously wasn't needed, so I started heading to the Necropolis.

 I got a little way then felt an incredible amount of energy that wasn't any of my comrade's flaring up from the prison. I went back and saw a purple field covering it. "A containment bead?" I muttered quietly then sat on top of the prison, there was something weird here, this energy felt familiar, almost like...

"No!" I cried out and jumped up. This bead had been created by Merlin, but it was cast using a demon's power; while I wasn't afraid for my friend's lives, I was worried about what this could mean.

I quickly contacted King, "King, we have an issue."

"Gosh, you have to stop popping up like that, Janis, you nearly gave me a heart attack!"

"Sorry, but you aren't the only one on a personal quest now. I won't be joining you in the necropolis. Talk to everyone with Ban for me, I would like to not be treated hostilely when I get back."

"Wait, you have Ban? And you're heading this way?"

"Yes, and yes. I would like to question you on the suddenly malicious tone your voice just took on, but know that I will get answers eventually. I can't be with you until I figure out what's going on, but I should be there in no later than a week."

"Do you mind if I ask what came up?"

"Demons, demons came up King, there is something very wrong going on in this kingdom." I thought grimly and then cut off the connection before King could respond. It looks like it would be a while before I could be with my friends again, for now, I needed to infiltrate the Capital.

I flew away from the prison but smiled happily as I felt the containment shield being torn apart by the amount of energy that Ban and Meliodas were giving off. It was time to get to work.
