Chapter 24- Thor

I had stayed on the mountain for the rest of the day, catching up more thoroughly with the dryads, when I felt Hel connect with me, "Janis, go to the top of the mountain, I sense a presence from Asgard." As quick as she came, I felt her disappear and I stood immediately, answering the questions that were thrown my way the best I could.

As I made the trek to the mountain's top for the second time that day, my mind wandered to the other sins; because I had cut all other ties with them I had no idea how they were doing, which frustrated me to no end. To my surprise, the person who was on my mind most was Ban, though I hated to admit it to myself; every time I heard someone say basically anything, my mind immediately wandered to what Ban would say, which always made me smile. I really wanted to have my usual conversation with Gowther about human emotion, and what each of them meant; sparing with Meliodas and training with Ban was so much better than all the dryads, though I would never tell them that.

The more I thought about them, the more a deep sense of loss filled me, and I longed to see them again. I sighed and refocused on my mission, I wouldn't get far if all I was doing was moping; I was reminded of that fact when I tripped over a branch and landed flat on my face. Immediately, Ban's voice entered my head sarcastically, 'Good job Janis, as always, you wow me with your elegance and womanly ways, how are you still single?'

I shook myself off and thanked all the lucky stars out there that no one was around, only to hear a chuckle from Hel, which I ignored with a slightly red face. I crested the top of the mountain and my eyes widened.

I'm not sure what I how I was expecting Odin's answer to come, but it sure as heck wasn't anything like this; I was absolutely not expecting was a tall, blond god in armor staring at me with curiosity. "Mortal, my father instructed me to bring you to him, he informed me that you have news of my brother."

All I could do was blink in shock, and I could feel the same emotion coming from Hel, "Ex-Excuse me? Who are you?" I said cautiously and I took a step towards him.

"I am Thor, son of Odin, Loki is my brother, and we seek to discover what he is contriving for this realm." He flashed me a rather prideful smile as he said this, and I rolled my eyes; so, the prince of Asgard was a flirt, was he?

Before I could respond, I felt Hel take over my body and she walked purposefully towards Thor before punching him in the face. To say that I was shocked was an understatement, but what surprised me even more, was the fact that he went flying off the mountain's edge.

"Hel, what are you doing? We want his help, we don't want to tick him off." I practically screamed at Hel through our link; I could just feel her smirk in return.

"Just wait, Janis, you'll see." She said happily.

Thor flew back over the edge, apparently being pushed by lightning, "What power do you hold mortal? I have never met one of your kind that could throw me with a single hit, you would be a worthy opponent to spar. Would you honor me when we reach Asgard by fighting me?" He said happily and for the second time that day, I could do nothing but blink in shock, he liked the fact that Hel had hit him that hard?

"This body is not mortal, you fool, I thought you would've been able to sense that; though, from the stories I was told of you by my father, that shouldn't surprise me. Should it, uncle?" She said slyly.

"Uncle?" Thor's brow furrowed in confusion before shock spread across his face, "Hel? Is that you?" I felt myself nod, and in the next second, I was swept up into a bone-breaking hug that made me gasp as the air was forced from my lungs.

Right as I was about to collapse, I was released and Thor looked at me as though I were precious, "Father told me that you were sent to Helheim, and I feared that I would never see you again; how did you escape that realm?"

A dull laugh escaped my mouth, "I didn't, you see, this body is not me, I still reside in Helheim, ruling over the dead; I was able to talk to you because I have a connection with Janis, the person who this body belongs to. She is the one who is requesting your help, I have simply been the informant; I simply wished to meet my uncle. I do not remember seeing you before because I was a babe when I was last on Asgard, though it warms my heart that you remember me so fondly."

"This body can house the consciousness of a god? She must be powerful indeed." Thor mused and this time Hel's laugh was genuine.

"That would be an understatement, dear uncle; I should probably give her back her body so that she can explain herself, but she would be overly modest, so I will brag for her. She has done things that none of the others that came before her would have been able to do, she holds enough power to withstand the fury of my brother, Fenris, for several days in his time as he tortured her."

When Thor heard this, his face saddened, "I know that father may not be care as much when he hears this, but I would like to speak to this Janis, if only to apologize for the pain our people have caused her. Fenris has always been feared throughout the land for his temper and sadistic nature, so to find out that this girl faced his wrath is painful for me to hear."

"You do not need to tell her that again, she can hear everything we are saying. Our bond is unlike many others that focus mainly on soul possession of the body; rather, I have occasional access to control her actions and words while she watches on. It is draining for both of us, but the fact that she can survive my presence for this long is nothing short of astounding. I suppose I should let you speak to her now, but please know that she can bring you to Helheim to see me in person if you ever desire it; you would be more than welcome." With those words, Hel retreated, and I could feel myself sway on my feet because of the energy drain that being connected with Hel for so long caused. A strong hand grabbed me and steadied me, and I looked up to see Thor smiling at me happily.

"You are called Janis, is that correct?" He asked as quietly as he could manage, I had only known the guy for a few minutes, but I could tell that he was not a naturally quiet guy. "Thank you for giving me the chance to converse with my niece, I did not even realize that she was still alive before now."

"Oh, it wasn't a problem, though I didn't make the connection that you were her uncle until after she had taken over my body. Why would Odin want to see me in person if he can just send you?" I asked quickly, I was never amazing with small talk, so I did my best to get back to business as quickly as I could.

"It is a more complicated reason than you might think," Thor said with a sigh, and he ran his hand through his hair, which I noticed randomly was a lot thicker than mine. I tried to get my thoughts back on track, but all I could think of was how unfair it was that he worked with lightning all day and his hair was still beautiful. I was finally able to redirect my thoughts when I heard him start to speak again, "I'm sure that Hel informed you of Loki's true parentage?" Without giving me time to respond, he continued, "My father is the one who was responsible for bringing Loki back from a battle with the frost giants, he hoped to bring about a truce between our people. Sadly, he did not realize that Loki was not meant to live anyways."

I cocked my head in confusion, but Thor waved me off, "Father can answer that more thoroughly, I am simply giving you an overview of the situation so you can have more understanding. He did not give me permission to linger long in this realm, so we need to be going soon, though I was getting a little caught up in the storytelling. Just know that father feels guilty for all of the destruction that Loki has caused and he wants to speak with you personally to get a better understanding of what help is needed." He turned away from me to raise the giant hammer that he had with him in the air before quickly pausing and turning to me, "Hel mentioned that you are not mortal, what are you in that case? Certain species react badly to being transported across realms."

"I'm a banshee." I said quickly, squelching the desire to state that not being mortal would obviously make me immortal, well, either that or dead. Once again, it was something that Ban would say, and I did not need his brand of sarcasm with Thor, who seemed a bit oblivious when it came to that area of life.

"Very well, I do believe that this will be fine then, though I must admit that you are the first banshee to ever travel by Bifrost, so I truly hope that you survive." He said carelessly, not noticing how I paled when he said this. He was so casual about the fact that I could possibly die now, it was like he was discussing the weather! I was about to object when I was swept up in a golden light, and I could feel myself being thrown through space.

I was used to traveling at extremely high speeds with my mist body, but this was something else entirely, it felt as though I was being stretched like candy; and I knew immediately that the speed we were going surpassed my favorite form of travel, as hard as that was to believe. I nearly lost consciousness, but before I could do that, I was deposited into a golden dome, facing a tall, dark-skinned man who was wearing golden armor. I tried to clear my eyes, hoping that this was some form of illusion, but everything was the same when I finished, so I figured that this had to be real.

Thor caught my attention with a wide smile, "Lady Janis, may I be the first to welcome you to Asgard."
