The Hybrid: Chapter Fourteen
Shepard laid in bed looking at the ceiling for what felt like an eternity. The alcohol had kicked in and she laid there motionless. Her mind was numb and her feelings felt about the same. She did, however, thought about Garrus and wondered if Thane was alright. Her thoughts about Garrus were making her question her reality with him. If in fact they didn't stop this mad man of a doctor who cheated death and caused the death of several human and Turian children; the question lingered in her mind if she was actually willing t have a Turian child with Garrus.
She blinked.
"I drank too much." She muttered. She wanted to blame the alcohol for making her think something that stupid. Having a Turian child couldn't happen. Their body would cause her more pain then a human baby would. Besides, how big are Turian children? Do they have platting on their bodies as they develop in the womb?
She shook her head, knowing that the alcohol was starting to lose its effect. Shepard wanted to find out more information on the doctor, such as where he was hiding. With the assassin now after them, her being grounded, she wasn't sure where to start. Shepard swore under her breath, flinching at the sound of knocking on the door.
"Who is it?" She called out. She was off the bed rather quickly, reaching to the nightstand to grab her pistol. She prepared the gun, aiming it at the door. She moved slowly to the door, the knocking getting sloppier. She could hear faint humming along with slurred words. She rolled her eyes when she recognized the voice as a drunk Garrus. She put the safety back on her pistol and put it on her waist. She looked through the peephole and saw him slouched up against the wall. He was looking down, muttering.
"I want to be alone, Garrus." Shepard called out, remembering what had happened a few hours ago.
"I came to apologize, pretty lady." He slurred.
Shepard rolled her eyes. She unlocked her door and pulled it open.
"Make it quick."
Garrus pushed himself off of the wall and turned towards Shepard. She was in her jogger pants and a sports bra. Garrus couldn't help but examine what she was wearing. He blinked, attempting to find the right words to say. His drunken self could only think of one thing. He took a step closer to her, putting his hand on her waist and pulling her closer to himself. Before Shepard knew what was going on, Garrus was kissing her. As best as a Turian could kiss a human.
Shepard stood there confused. She pulled back from Garrus, looking up in his eyes feeling conflicted. With everything else that was going on, now Garrus was kissing her. She looked away, he was drunk. Garrus stood there trying to figure out what has just happened. He wanted to keep kissing her but instead he just stood there waiting for Shepard's next move.
"Please leave." She mutters.
"But... I..." Garuss rubbed the back of his neck attempting to find the right words. Shepard shook her head, finding herself tugging her hair.
"For fuck sakes, Valerian. I have the whole fucking galaxy on my shoulders and now this?! I can't fucking think!" She yells. She turns around and rushes into her room, slamming the door shut in Garrus' face. The alien stood there trying to process what had just happened. Garrus looked down, muttering another apology, leaving the hotel doorstep. Shepard sat on the foot of her bed with the pistol in her hands. Her mind was numb again, her stomach tight. Tears welled up in her eyes, wondering what she was going to do.
Kill the doctor.
Find and kill the assassin.
Stop the Reapers.
Try not to fall in love with Garrus in the process.
The last one she wasn't quiet sure on. She never had time to think of her emotions towards him. She admits when she first met him there was a small spark of a connection but after she died...
Why would Garrus have feelings for an undead clone?
"I don't have time for this." Shepard mutters to herself. She kicks off her boots, attempting to mentally block the depression she had felt lingering in the back of her mind. She was Commander Shepard, she didn't have time to be depressed. She laid on her bed, facing the wall, finding the thick blanket to cover herself with. She never bothered to let go of the gun. Instead, she held it close to her chest. A wave of emotional and mental exostian washed over her, having her fall asleep instantly.

Thane laid in bed with a mask over his face. He wished nothing more then to be out of this hospital. He has been in and out of here due to his current illness, now he was shot on top of said illness. It would be a miracle if he would make it out of here alive. He wanted to make it out of here, he had so many things to do. Shepard needs him. Thane knew what this assassin looked like. He also had a hunch as to where the doctor was.
Thane groaned, coughing as his thought process slowed. He was tired, his body felt like it was shutting down. Kepral's Syndrome was kicking his ass and the wound, which has went through his side, was making it harder to breathe it seemed like. Thane squeezed his hands in frustration. He can't die, not like this! He wanted to make things right, to clear his sins! He wanted to live just for a while longer.
Thane began to weep for his god.
He prayed that he would be able to live for a little longer. Or that he would by some miracle be saved from the death grips of Kepral's Syndrome. As he laid there, attempting to beg for some type of forgiveness, he found himself wishing that Shepard was around. He wasn't entirely sure why. He did like being around her. She was kind to him when he had joined Normandy not too long ago. She would come to his room, asking him questions, getting to know the assassin that had joined the crew. He found comfort in that.
Thane shifted his attention towards the dark corner of his hospital room. There was movement in the shadows. It could have been outside of the window but his gut told him something different. Thane attempted to sit up but it caused a burning sensation in his torso.
"Don't move." The words whispered rather close to Thane. Thane turned his attention towards the figure standing beside him, gasping. From the light outside of his hospital window, Thane noticed that it was Kaiden. Thane coughed, attempting to speak but instead Kaiden spoke.
"Where is the Commander?"
"Not sure." Thane said, finally catching his breath.
Kaiden swore.
"Kaiden, what is going on?"
"That doctor guy is doing more than just hybrids."
Thane's stomach tightened.
"What do you mean?" Thane asked, unsure if he wanted the answer.
Kaiden sighed, "I done some digging on the tablet you and the Commander found. There were hidden folders I was able to crack into after I lost my dinner. Turns out that these hybrids are only part of his Genesis Project."
Kaiden ran his fingers through his hair, "he's going to be making clones, creating armies... Cerberus is funding him...they are planning on leaving this galaxy only to come back after the Reapers are finished here."
Thane blinked.
They both stood there, attempting to processes everything that was happening.
