Chapter Two
Terra
It wasn't hard to understand why most people didn't enjoy the first day of school, even Terra didn't like to be up so early some days. Still, she didn't get the point in whining and complaining about it. School was necessary in life, and honestly could be enjoyable as long as you looked at it positively.
That is unless you happened to get your enemy since Kindergarten in your first class of the day, and she happened to be leaning back in her chair with her feet on the desk, something that bothered you endlessly.
Terra didn't understand how anyone could do that and not feel bad for the person who would be using it after. Whoever had it after Annabeth would have to deal with the scuff marks, which would be beyond irritating. And then there was the janitor who had to clean them off, only to inevitably find them again the next day because people like Annabeth Colburn were not just single time offenders.
And even though the simple action was causing trouble for others, Annabeth clearly didn't care. She was nonchalantly talking to a raven-haired boy behind her, who was tilting his desk forward quite a bit, clearly not caring that the desk could break from doing that, or that if it did, he and
Annabeth could both be severely injured.
Some, or rather a lot, of people have the opinion that Terra took things too seriously, and that she needed to relax. Annabeth herself had said on multiple occasions that Terra "had a stick so far up her ass, she was a real bitch", which was later explained by her cousin as being a pun about bark.
Terra, however, found herself to be perfectly calm. There was no way for her not to be, she did yoga every morning. In fact, she was rather popular with most people, it was only people like Annabeth who didn't like her.
And the pun barely made sense.
The brunette watched the pair interact a while longer, taking notice of Marie beside Annabeth. Marie, in Terra's opinion, was a much better person than her cousin. The female was kind, and a good student. She very rarely broke school rules or caused any sort of issues for others. On the rare occasion that she did, it was normally because she was following along with Annabeth. How she could drag a sweet girl like Marie down with her, Terra would never understand. But, that seemed to just be the kind of person Annabeth was.
Annabeth laughed a bit at whatever the male said, slapping the wall. Yet another annoying, property damage risking, thing. The female leaned forward a bit, before leaning back once more. This time, however, she noticed Terra and waved with a small smirk, saying something to the male, before she stood up, letting the chair fall to the floor.
The blonde made her way over to the brunette with her usual, sicking, smirk, hands shoved deep in her pockets. Or, at least, as deep as girl jean pockets could manage. The shorter girl had to look up at Terra, though only slightly as the height difference couldn't have been more than an inch.
"Well, aren't you lucky?" She spoke up, her tone as cocky as ever. "You get to be graced with my royal presence so early in the morning."
"The only thing royal about you is how big of a pain you are." Terra gave a simple reply, glaring down at Annabeth, who just kept her smirk.
"Terra, that's so mean...And I don't want to hear anything from the more annoying version of Dora. What the fuck is with that brown bob? You seriously don't ever change up your hair." Annabeth replied, shaking her head.
"I'm not even Hispanic you idiot. And I don't want to hear anything about being annoying from you." Terra rolled her eyes, deciding fighting with Annabeth this early was not something she really wanted to do. However, fighting most anyone was something Annabeth constantly wanted to do.
"And yet, you still look like her." Annabeth snickered, leaning back on her heels. "So, why were you glaring at me so early in the morning? Or is your resting bitch face just acting up again?"
"If you really need to know, nobody needs your heel prints and scuffs on their desk first day of school." Terra replied, her tone becoming a bit more annoyed, "I'm pretty sure I've told you this quite a few times by now, and yet you seem to be too thick-skulled for it to get through."
Annabeth scrunched up her face, shaking her head. "Why the fuck do you talk like that? Seriously, how old are you?" She asked, before smirking. "And nobody wants my heel marks, huh?" It was obviously a rhetorical question, and the way Annabeth began to walk back to her desk made Terra nervous as she stepped forward to attempt to stop whatever Annabeth was about to do.
The blonde kept her smirk, climbing up on her chair, before doing the same to the desk. She stood on it, hands on her hips and a triumphant grin across her features as she looked at Terra. "What about my entire shoe? You think that's any better?"
Marie gave her cousin a bit of a tired look, shaking her head. "It's only the first day Anna, get down before the teacher comes in and catches you."
Annabeth shrugged, doing a bit of a spin, causing the desk to wobble. "Come on. By now, there isn't a single teacher who doesn't expect me to do this kind of thing! I'll get down when somebody with the balls to comes and makes me."
The male Annabeth had been talking to before started laughing hard, leaning back in his own chair as he did so. "Holy shit Pepper! You're gonna fucking break something!"
"On me, or the desk?" Annabeth asked, jumping this time though the desk still shook. The blonde seemed to almost lose her balance, but she regained it quick enough, her smirk staying on her face as she looked around the room. A few other students were laughing, some looked nervous, while others were ignoring the situation entirely. Terra herself was watching the scene in front of her, red in the face as she held back the desire to begin yelling, not wanting to draw the attention of any teachers in the rooms over. If they came in and Terra was screaming at Annabeth like a lunatic, it wouldn't look good. There was a good chance she would end up in trouble as well, and she really couldn't have that happen.
"Take your pick!" The black haired male replied, continuing to bust his gut. "You're fucking nuts!"
Marie gave the male a wary look, shaking her head. "Please don't encourage her."
The male seemed to stop laughing almost immediately, nodding, before looking to Annabeth. "You really should get down."
"Don't turn on me for the tits!" Annabeth said, beginning to swoon dramatically as the desk tipped back with her, before she quickly moved forward, causing it to move in the opposite direction. Her smirk went away for just a moment as her already porcelain skin seemed to pale further, before she quickly smirked again, standing up straight. "And if you want me down, you gotta make me."
Terra took a deep breath, about to attempt to speak calmly, before somebody walked past her, startling her.
A large man, whom she suspected to be the teacher, walked over to Annabeth, a bit of a scary expression on his face. He had to be at least six foot four, and looked to be bulky under his...Hoodie and jeans? That really wasn't a normal outfit for a teacher, at least not on the first day of school. The man didn't say a word as he moved to Annabeth, who simply gave him a cocky smirk. "Oh, hey big guy. Gonna try something? Go right ahead I'll just kick your ass later. So I'd think carefully before you-"
Before the blonde could say another word, the large man lifted her up and put her over his shoulder, moving a bit away from the desk. Annabeth was clearly startled by the sudden action, and attempted to hit him just once, hitting his back before stopping. When she was put down, rather gently, she looked up at the male, before grabbing his arm and squeezing it. "Holy hell big guy! You're like...Pure muscle! Where do you work out, because I wanna tag along next time."
The man didn't reply immediately, simply looking down at Annabeth, before he shrugged. "I don't really go anywhere." His voice definitely matched his appearance, and Terra didn't think he was the kind of guy that someone would want to mess with, even someone like Annabeth.
The black haired male made a rather whiny sound, looking at the man. "Danny, you ruined the fun!" He sighed, gaining the red-headed man's attention and earning an apologetic expression.
"Sorry Luke. She looked like she was going to get hurt." The man, Danny apparently, apologized.
Luke shook his head, grinning.
"Oh yeah, she totally was. Don't apologize, Pepper is fucking insane so someone should have stopped her, but I wanted to see who it was. Didn't think it'd be you, but I shoulda known." Luke looked around, "Guess everyone else here didn't know what to do."
Annabeth looked up at the man, who Terra was beginning to suspect was not a teacher but oddly a student, grinning. "Big guy, it's official. You're rolling with me from now on. You seem like you'll be hella fun."
Danny simply nodded, silently moving back to where he'd come from, which Terra realized was a desk. The smaller girl next to him looked pretty terrified as she attempted to make herself smaller, which only seemed to cause the larger male to look her way even more.
Terra stood still, trying to process any of what had just happened, before the door opened and the actual teacher walked in. The brunette quickly made her way to an empty desk towards the font, sitting down and unpacking a few of her things.
She could already tell first period was going to make this a very long year. All she could hope was she didn't have to deal with most of these...Interesting characters outside of class.
