Chapter 25: Endgame: The Survivors
Previously on the Hunter:
Your blue vision disappeared...
...
...
... to reveal red.
You couldn't move your body at all. You could only blankly stare ahead. Unable to even move your red eyes.
"No no no no no no! Y/n! Please no!" You heard your dad's voice, "y/n! Please tell me you're still there! Why are your eyes red!? Y/n!"
You tried to move, to tell him you were there. But you couldn't move a single cell in your body.
"I'm sorry y/n... we lost. I lost... I failed you..." No dad, I'm right here! You tried to speak. To say something, anything. But there came no avail.
"She's gone." Nebula's voice sounded from behind you, "There's nothing we can do now. Come on. We need to get back to Earth." Your dad nodded, standing up.
"I'm taking her with us. I'm not going to just leave her here." Your dad delicately picked your frozen form up from the ground. He carried you back to Nebula's ship. "It's pretty messed up, but it'll work." Your dad concluded as he stepped inside and sat you down on the floor.
Nebula had taken the pilot seat, your dad took the passenger. "This might get bumpy at first, so hold on to something." Nebula instructed.
"Wait." Your dad ran over to you and moved you to a spot that you wouldn't fall over. "I know that you're... you know, not here anymore. But, I will hold onto any part of you that I have left... you're all I have left." He said quietly as he kissed your metal forehead.
He walked back to the passenger seat. "Ok let's go." He nodded. Nebula started the ship. It jolted at first before soaring up into the sky. "I can't believe we lost everything..." he sighed looking back at you, "Everything..."

Tony's POV

"No no no no no no! Y/n! Please no!" I cried. Y/n's gone. She's gone. I cant save her! I can't do anything. Y/n's eyes stared ahead blankly, "y/n! Please tell me you're still there! Why are your eyes red!? Y/n!" I cried, she wasn't responding. I could see the ashes of her normal form on the ground in front of her. This doesn't make any sense. "I'm sorry y/n... we lost. I lost. I failed you..."
"She's gone." Nebula said from behind us. "There's nothing we can do now. Come on. We need to get back to Earth." I nodded standing up.
"I'm taking her with us. I'm not going to just leave her here." I clarified as I picked up y/n's frozen figure carefully. She was really light which made sense, considering that as far as I could tell, she was currently 100% vibranium.
I carried her to nebula's ship, which looked pretty bashed up, "It's pretty messed up, but it'll work." I stated as I walked inside and carefully laid y/n on the floor.

Time skip brought to you by that sad moment when you realise that you will forever be alone in this world... haha... *cries myself to sleep*

I sat down next to y/n. We've been adrift in space for a while now since the thrusters malfunctioned and I can't do anything to fix them.
"I'm so sorry it ended this way... I let you down... I couldn't save you. This whole thing is my fault..." I huffed. In my spare time these last couple of days I sit down and just talk to y/n, even though it's not like she can hear me. But it's like it gives me closure I guess... just having y/n there... for a second it's... like I'm not alone. Like she's still here with me... like she's not dead because of me... but at the end of the day, the fact is, she is....
"So I've done the calculations, and our oxygen is going to run out tomorrow, so we haven't got much longer. God, I've really messed up. I've gone through everything these past days, wondering, 'where did I go wrong?' Well I guess really, it all started before I became who I am. If i never had followed in my fathers footsteps of Stark Industries, maybe things would be different... good or bad, I guess I'll never know huh?" I sighed, "I think one of the only good choices I've ever made was adopting you." I chuckled softly, "I know that I won't be alive much longer, and I know it's not like you can hear me, but I am sorry for leading you to this... I love you y/n."
I laid down next to y/n and drifted off to sleep, knowing that I probably wouldn't wake up...
I was awoken by a bright light shining ahead of me. At first, I thought it was a sign that I was going to die. But, my eyes then fluttered open and I had to shield my eyes from the light. I then saw what the light was. It was a woman. A glowing, flying woman. She smile kindly at me.
She flew aboard the ship, "Hello, my name is Carol. I'm here to help you." The woman said kindly.
"We need to get back to Earth." Nebula stated, "Can you help us get there?"
"Yes. That I can do." Carol nodded. "Strap yourselves to something and hold on." She walked out and grabbed onto the bottom of the ship. I grabbed onto a railing near y/n. I felt a massive jolt forward as we soared at lightning speed through space.
An hour later, I felt the bump of the sip landing. I stumbled to my feet. I made my way clumsily to the ships exit. Screeches erupted from the metal ramp, as it slowly opened. I looked outside and I saw the Avengers facility. I saw everyone waiting out on the lawn.
"Tony!" Pepper ran to me and engulfed me in a hug. "Oh my God! You're ok! You're ok!" She cried into my shoulder.
"Tony." I looked to see Steve.
"Captain." I nodded.
"You're a sight for soar eyes." Steve smiled, as he patted my back. "Where's y/n? And Peter?" He asked.
"The kids... they... they didn't make it." I swallowed hard, as the memory of y/n and Peter turning to dust right in front of me rushed through my head painfully.
"W-What?..." Pepper choked on her tears. "No... y/n... no." Tears replaced the happiness that was in her eyes, "but how? Y/n... she's so strong. She couldn't have just..."
"She dusted." I sighed, "she survived the big fight. She was the strongest. She almost got him." My words got caught in my throat. "But it just wasn't enough... but something weird happened... she didn't completely dust."
"What do you mean?" Steve asked, "how can she not completely dust? That... doesn't make any sense."
I walked back into the ship. I went to where I had put y/n , seeing her like this was still something I don't think I could ever get used to...
I picked her up and brought her out to everyone.
"Oh y/n!" Pepper ran up to me crying, "y/n... talk me... please..." Pepper choked on her sobs as she laid a soft, delicate hand on y/n's forehead, "Is she ok?"
"I don't know. All I know is that, all that's left of her is vibranium. I don't know why she didn't completely vanish." I sighed looking at y/n's blank, red eyes.
"Because she isn't a living creature."
"What?" I looked at Nat who had spoken up.
"You said that this is all just vibranium. Vibranium isn't a living thing. So that part of her must have just... stayed."
I looked back to y/n, as I realised that Nat was right. "Let's go inside, you need to get a check up." Steve broke the silence. I nodded and went to walk inside, carrying y/n, "I've got y/n." Steve took y/n from my arms and carried her inside.
As I walked inside, for the first time in a while, I felt at peace. I made it home back to Pepper. That was at least one positive in this whole thing.
But the negatives still outweigh the positives.
We all walked through the halls to my lab. I stopped at one point, and stared at the door to my left... y/n's room.
I sniffed as I held my hand out and softly placed it on the door, the coldness of it sent a small wave of goosebumps up my arm. This room used to be y/n's... I used to be able to just walk in and see y/n sitting on her bed eating a packet of Doritos... but I'll never see that again...
My breath got caught in my throat as a single tear slid down my face. I felt a soft hand on my shoulder. I turned my gaze from the door to see Pepper. She had a soft smile on her face. I nodded, sniffing back tears and continued walking down the hall. Millions of memories flooding my brain as I passed the rooms... Peter's, Vision's, Wanda's... I shut my eyes and held onto Peppers hand to stop myself from falling over.
I walked into the lab and layed myself on a bed, "F.R.I.D.A.Y, read my vitals."
"Your heart rate is normal. Vitals are stable. But you have lost a lot of weight and nutrients. I suggest putting you on an immediate diet to fix your glucose levels and other fibres." F.R.I.D.A,Y suggested.
"Ok, sounds good." I nodded and sat up.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y, can you send me some of that diet, I'll start making Tony some food." Nat asked.
"Done."
"Ok, we will leave you and Pepper alone for a bit. Is that ok Tony?" Steve turned to me. I nodded in response as they all turned to leave. Once the room was empty Pepper spoke up.
"You know it's not your fault." She looked at me sadly, "Don't blame yourself. Please Tony."
"How can I not?" I asked, my voice cracking slightly, "Everyone is gone. Y/n, is gone."
"It is not your fault that this all happened. You fought against Thanos when no one else could. Y/n always knew the consequences. But she never let that stop her. She would have given that fight all she had. You both would have ok? So don't you dare go thinking this is your fault."
"But I wasn't good enough." I stopped her from lying to me, "If I was strong enough, I could have defeated Thanos. Peter and Y/n would still be here. They all would, but they aren't."
"I know Tony. I know." Pepper spoke softly, "But y/n was the strongest person I knew. She wouldn't have just kicked the bucket that easily. You and I both know that. I also know that she would have slapped you across the face is she had figured out that you blamed yourself that it ended this way." I chuckled a little at that fact, "She would not want you to sit here blaming yourself for everything. She wouldn't want you to just give up."
"I'm not giving up." I shook my head, "I am not giving up on y/n. She wouldn't rest until Thanos was dead for what he has done... and neither will I. I am not going to just sit down and pretend like nothing happened. I will not sit here helplessly and just 'move on' like the rest of the world is. I will not." Pepper nodded showing her understanding.
"I can count on it Tony. But you still need to rest." Pepper spoke softly to me, "And when you are better, we will find Thanos. And we will stop him. We will get y/n back."
I nodded. A small silence came between us until I decided to speak up, "I promised y/n that I would look after her all those years ago." I recalled, "I failed to protect her this time. But I will never fail to do that again."
"So, you get better for her Tony. And we will beat Thanos and fix this all, for her." Pepper told me. I nodded sadly in response, "Now you get some rest. Ok? I love you."
"I love you too."

Time skip brought to you by the fact that no one will ever love me *cries*........ ANYWAY!

"Tony we have finally tracked down Thanos." Nat informed me, "After he disappeared into that portal in Wakanda, we have been trying to trace where he has gone. We found a similar source of that power that was detected from a planet one hundred trillion light years away." She pointed to a planet on a holographic map.
"How are we suppose to get there?" Steve asked. Nat stayed silent as she didn't know the answer either.
"I can take you there in four hours." I turned to look at the talking raccoon, "I do it all the time." We all stayed silent to look at the raccoon in astonishment, "Simple humans." He scoffed and rolled his eyes at us.
"You really think you can get us there in four hours?" Nat asked.
"Oh please, I know I can." He smiled at us proudly. We stayed silent for a moment before I spoke up.
"Well, what are we waiting for?"
"Nothing." Steve nodded and looked around at everyone, "Avengers... Assemble." Everyone split ways and went to change into their suits.
I walked into my lab. I looked around at all the suits and I felt a wave of guilt and sadness rush over me as memories flashed into my head.
I heard y/n laughing as a little 12 year old over at a desk where I saw my self tickling her.
I saw 13 year old y/n pressed up against the glass casing of Mark 42 staring at it in awe. "Will I ever get to fly it?" She asked me, I muttered to myself the same answer a gave her that day 'you won't need a suit to save anyone. You'll only need your strength. And you have enough of that to change the world.'
A tear slid down my check.
"You saved me y/n. I'm sorry I couldn't save you." I whispered to myself.
Another memory showed.
Y/n came running in, panting, "Umm dad? We have a problem.."
"What did you do?" Past me ran over at her freaked out expression.
"We'll you see, Steve and I, we were training and... well he went to punch me right?..." I nodded, "Well you see, he hit me-"
"Are you ok!? Are you hurt?"Past me frantically looked over y/n.
"I'm fine. It's Steve. When he punched me, I went into vibranium mode and well... His fist smashed and broke in like 20 different places..."
"What!?" I ran out.
I smiled at the memory of y/n. She would always beat me and Steve in a fight...
One last memory flashed.
Y/n sitting at a desk fiddling with something, "So have you asked Peter out yet?"
"What! No! Dad! Just. No." She looked at me with a freaked out expression. I just threw my hands up in surrender.
"I'm just saying, if you were gonna date anyone, can you make it Peter?"
"DAD!"
"Tony." I turned around to see Nat looking at me sadly. She was in her suit, "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine. Sorry about making you wait." I said as I went to walk Into a suit. I felt a hand on my shoulder, stopping me from moving.
"I miss her too Tony." I looked at Nat. I nodded sadly showing that we were both feeling the same grief, "But we'll get her back."
I nodded again and stepped into Mark 42. The metal forming around me. The mask covered my face and I stepped forward.
"Let's go get this Bastard."
A/N:
HAHA! BEESH I'M BACK!
