Chapter 11: Homecoming: The Vulture

A/N: Hell this gonna be a fairly big chapter... Heads up!

- - - - - - - -

The next morning you woke up and got dressed for school. The thought of everything that happened that night was still on your mind. Not necessarily on your newest control power. More on the weapons used by those ATM robbers... they were powerful and extremely dangerous. Something was off. There was no way that what they were using was from Earth. Something from a different universe.

You would go to the scene later that afternoon as Hunter to analyse the damage and do some research.

You then got a text from Peter while you were making a smoothie.

Petie: hey y/n. Ned and I were gonna walk to school today? You wanna join us?

You texted back.

Y/n/n: yeah sure! I'll meet you guys at were that ATM thing happened. Byeeeeee.

Petie: ok! Byeeeeeee!

You walked out of your apartment and walked to the crime scene. You know, just casually meets up with friends at a crime scene to walk to school. As you do.

When you arrive you saw Peter and Ned walking towards you. Peter looked like Ned was annoying him a little about something. Peter's face lit up when he saw you. You walked over.

"Sup ma' peeps!" You laughed.

"Hey y/n!" Ned and Peter chimed together.

"So what were you guys talking about?" You walked along with them.

"I am asking Peter some questions about him being you-know-what..." Ned's voice dropped.

"And I was explaining to Ned how the spider that bit me is dead." Peter hinted to Ned. "Which is why he cannot become the second Spider-Man."

I laughed at Ned's weirdness.

"Hey, you said I could ask you questions!" Ned defended.

"I immediately regret that decision." Peter laughed. "Anyway. How are you this morning y/n?"

"Meh, just the usual. For me anyway." You winked at Peter while Ned looked too caught up in his own thoughts to notice.

You all stopped walking when you saw the crime scene from last night.

"Dude. You were here?" Ned looked at Peter. "You could've died..."

You and Peter exchanged a glance.

"Do you lay eggs?" Ned changed the subject in like 5 seconds from 'serious' to 'what the hell?'

"WHAT!? No!" Peter reassured his friend while still being shocked as to where he came up with that of all questions.

You just laughed at the two.

When you arrived at school you continued on with your normal classes and throughout the day Ned kept on asking Peter a bunch of random questions about Spider-Man.

During a science lecture Ned asked "Can you spit venom?"

"No." Peter whispered back.

"Can you summon an army of spiders?"

"No Ned." Peter replied with a sigh. He was clearly getting a little annoyed at Ned. You just giggled when you watched the scene.

Then during an Geography lecture Ned asked, "How far can you shoot your webs?"

"You don't know when to shut up." Peter whisper yelled. This made you laugh.

"If I was you, I would stand at the edge of a really high building and just shoot as far as I ca-" Peter cut Ned off.

"Shut up Ned!" Peter whisper snapped. You just laughed again. This made a girl in front of you turn around and give you three a dirty look you just poked your tongue at her. She sneered in return.

Then PE class came and you were sitting with Ned and Peter up the back of the bleachers.

One of those cheesy Cap videos was playing. "Hi, I'm Captain America..." Cap told everyone on the video.

"Do you know him too?" Ned asked.

"Yeah we met." Peter smiled at himself. "I stole his shield." Ned awed at Peter. Then Ned turned back the video. When he wasn't listening you leant over and whispered to Peter.

"Yeah, then I had to save your butt from getting crushed by a terminal." Your smirked.

"I was doing just fine thank you!" Peter mocked offence.

"Mhmm. Is that why you literally asked for help?" You smirked again.

Peter just rolled his eyes sarcastically at you and smiled. "I just didn't expect you to be able to lift one of those too."

"I just keep surprising you don't I?" You smiled.

"Hey, what are you guys talking about?" Ned came into your conversation.

"Nothing!" You and Peter yelled together.

"Thank you Captain." Your PE teacher interrupted your conversation. "I'm pretty sure this guys a war criminal now..." He was doing the right thing. You frowned at your teacher. "But whatever. I have to show you these videos. It's required by the state. Let's do it." He blew his whistle.

Peter paired up with Ned and you went with Michelle.

"Is Captain America cool? Or is he like a mean old grandpa?" You still could hear Ned and Peter you laughed at Ned. Michelle looked at you weirdly.

"What's so funny?" Oh right. Only you can hear that thanks to enhanced hearing... "Oh just replaying something funny in my head." You came up with the first excuse in your head. "You know those awkward laughing moments when you laugh at your own thoughts?"

"Oh yeah fair enough." She bought it yes!

You then hear Ned asking Peter about being his 'guy in the chair'. Whatever that was.

"You know how there's a guy. With the headset telling the other guy where to go?" Ned hinted. "Like if you were stuck in a burning building, I could tell you were to go because there would be all these screens around me and I could swivel around. Because I'd be your guy in the chair!"

"Ned. I have Hunter. I don't need a guy in the chair." Ned shook his head.

"Oh yeah! Status." Ned asked Peter. "Is the Huntsmen a thing?"

"What?" Peter looked so confused.

"The Huntsmen. You know. Your ship name with Hunter." Ned smirked at Peter's massively freaked out face.

"WHAT! Wha- I um, n-no! NO! Nonononononononononono! No! No..." Peter's face was pink.

"Really?" Ned frowned. "I thought Hunter and you looked great together... so she isn't your girlfriend then?" Ned raised an eyebrow.

"No. Hunter is not my girlfriend." Peter grew a deeper shade of red as he looked over at me and realised that I was watching. I just pretended that I didn't hear anything, so I just smiled and and mouthed 'I hate PE'. Peter smiled at me.

"Ok then..." Ned sighed. "Do you have a crush on her?"

"NED!" Peter covered his friends mouth. "Look. That's enough questions for today. Ned." Peter rolled his eyes trying to calm his blush.

Then their heads turned to listen to a conversation Liz was having. You decide to just continue doing sit ups at lightning speed Michele was looking at you with wide eyes.

"What? I work out." You shrugged. Then you hear something from across the room that makes you jump up and look at Ned and Peter. Ned just yelled.

"PETER KNOWS SPIDER-MAN!" This made everyone stop what they were doing and look at Peter.

"What! No. I don't- No. I-I mean uh yeah..."

"They're friends." Ned added.

"Yeah Like Coach Wilson and Captain America are friends." Flash laughed at Peter.

"I-I've met him, yeah. A couple of times... But it's through the uh... Stark internship." Peter was looking sideways at you pleadingly asking for your help. You just gave him a stressful face like saying 'really! Peter knows Spider-Man!?'.

"Yeah. But I'm not really supposed to talk about it." Peter glared at Ned

"Well, that's awesome. Hey, you know what? Maybe you should invite him to Liz's party. Right?"

"Umm... yeah. I'm having some people over tonight. You're more than welcome to come." Liz smiled.

"You're having a party?" Peter asked Liz. Still occasionally looking sideways at you.

"Yeah it's gonna be dope. You should totally invite your personal friend Spider-Man." Flash teased.

"Uh..." Peter looked at you again you shook your head slowly with wide eyes hinting him to say no. "I'm not sure I can-."

"It's ok. I know Peter's way too busy for parties anyway, so..." Liz looked at Peter.

"Oh come on. He'll be there, right Parker?" Flash shoulder barged Peter while walking past. Then the bell rang.

Everyone cleared out of the gym leaving you, Ned and Peter. You walked over to them.

"What are you doing!?" Peter asked annoyed at Ned.

"Didn't you hear her?" Ned hinted. "Liz. Your crush, has a crush on you." Your heart dropped hearing this. You knew Peter would never like you.

"Ned! I do not like Liz anymore!" Peter said and for a split second Peter looked at you.

"Oh! Really? Since when?" Ned was confused.

"Like two months ago!" Peter whisper yelled.

"Why didn't you tell me this?" Ned raised an eyebrow.

"It never came up." Peter hinted for Ned to shut up. You noticed this. What was he hiding...

"So you don't like anyone then." Ned clarified.

"Umm..." Peter gulped. "Look. Let's just focus on something else right now." Ned raised an eyebrow at Peter and smirked noticing Peter eyeing you every now and then. Ned nodded in understanding. Peter sent him a threatening look. Wow. Haha. If looks could kill. There would be a little war going on right now. "Anyway. What are we gonna do about the party?" Peter looked at you asking for your help.

"Maybe we shouldn't go... But... I don't want your reputation to die over this..." You reasoned.

"You should totally-" Ned was cut off by Peter.

"No. You have no opinion on this considering that you got me into this mess." Peter glared at Ned, who frowned.

"I don't know Peter..." You huffed. "This really isn't the best thing to do..."

"Are you going?" Ned asked you.

"Ha. Nooooo." You laughed.

"Why not?" Peter looked pleadingly at you. "Please don't leave me..." Ned smirked at Peter. Who's eyes widened and he hit Ned's arm.

"I don't do parties." You raised an eyebrow frowning. "They're just an accident waiting to happen."

"Please?"

"No."

"Please..." Ned begged.

"Nup." You shook your head.

"But-" You cut Peter off.

"No. No and... no."

"Y/n..." Peter's expression was sad now. Peter looked at you giving you puppy dog eyes. "Please..."

Damn it! HE GAVE YOU PUPPY DOG EYES! Your heart fluttered... NO! NO! NO! Y/n stand your ground.

"No. And don't you puppy dog eye me!" You glared.

"I really need you." Peter sighed at you. He then turned a shade of pink because he realised what he just said. "NOT LIKE THAT! I MEAN! I NEED YOU FOR THE PARTY! WAIT! NO! THAT IS WORSE! I mean I need your support." Peter was as red as his suit by this point. You smiled at him.

You then rolled your eyes, huffed and finally gave in. "Fine. But you owe me big time buddy."

"YES! THANK YOU SO MUCH Y/N!" Peter hugged you. You stiffened. You hated hugs but, then you relaxed. Peter was turning you into a freaking marshmallow on the inside.

Peter quickly retracted from the hug and smiled awkwardly.

"There is no way in hell that I am wearing a dress though." You glared at them.

"No dresses! Got it!" Ned threw is hands up in surrender.

Time skip to the party brought to you by Ned's inability to keep one secret. Just one. Nup.

"House party in the suburbs!" May chimed. "Oh, I remember these. Kind of jealous. You three excited?" May asked you.

"Yeah! It's gonna be a night to remember." Ned chimed.

"Ned. Some hats wear men. You wear that hat." May nodded at Ned.

"Thanks it gives me confidence." May laughed at Ned's goofiness.

"What about you y/n?" She asked you.

"Oh. Peter and Ned are forcing me to do this." You smiled sarcastically.

"Oh. You'll be fine y/n." May laughed.

Peter looked out the window with a worried look. "This is a mistake. Hey let's just go home."

"Peter I know. I know it's hard... to fit in with all the changes you body's going through..." May lectured Peter and his facial expression changed from worried to confused. "It's flowering you know." Peter laughed awkwardly. "He's so stressed out lately." May told you and Ned. Peter looked at you and you gave him a small sympathetic smile while Ned just smiled and said.

"What helps with stress is going to a party."

"Ok. I'm gonna do it. I'm going." Peter climbed out. So did Ned.

"I can't believe I am doing this." You huffed and got out of the car.

"Peter!" May caught Peter's attention. "Have fun ok?"

"I will." Please reassured his aunt.

"Bye May!" Ned waved.

"Pray for me." You frowned to May.

"Bye kids!" May drove off.

"You got the suit right?" Ned faced towards peter. Peter rolled up his sleeve to show the suit. "This is gonna change our lives!" Ned smiled.

You three walked inside and were greeted by a loud burst of party music.

"Ok. We're gonna have Spider-Man swing in... say you guys are tight... and I get a fist pump or one of those half bro-hugs."

"I can't believe you guys are at this lame party." Michelle stated buttering a piece of toast.

"But, you're here too." Ned had a confused look.

"Am I?" Michele shrugged and bit into her piece of toast as she walked off.

Classic Michele. You thought as you shook your head and smiled. Your thoughts were interrupted by someone greeting the three of you.

"Oh my gosh. Hey guys!" Liz entered the scene smiled. "Cool hat Ned."

"Hey Liz." Ned smiled.

"Hi Liz." Peter half smiled. You could tell that he was seriously thinking about what he was going to do.

"I'm so happy you guys came!" Liz came up and properly greeted you with a hug since you two were good friends. "There's uh, drinks and food on the table if you want some. Knock yourselves out." She giggled.

"This is a great party Liz." You chimed.

"Thanks." Liz smiled.

Then there was a crashing sound like glass or pottery shattering.

"Oh. I- My parents will kill me if anything's broken! I gotta..." Liz gestured that she needed to quickly stop whatever is happening.

"Yeah. That didn't sound too good..." you half smiled as Liz walked off.

"Dude. She's here. Spider-Man up." Ned told Peter.

"No. I can't do this Ned. Spider-Man is not a party trick." Peter shook his head. "I'm just gonna relax and... be myself." Peter smiled at you. That made your heart melt. You smiled back nodding your head at his good decision.

"Peter. No one wants that." Ned huffed. Ouch. Not helping Ned.

"Dude." Peter looked at his friend hurt. He just walked to go and get some drinks. You followed him and Ned just tagged along.

"Penis Parker! What's up!?" Flash mocked Peter as he walked. "Hey where's your pal Spider-Man? Let me guess. In Canada with your imaginary girlfriend? That's not Spider-Man. That's Ned in a red shirt."

"Shut the hell up Flash!" You shouted defending Peter. "Hey speaking of which. How was your date with Black Widow? Or did that blow up like your life too?" You burned Flash everyone who heard 'ooooooed' Flash who just rolled his eyes and said,

"Oh there you go. Penis has got himself a girlfriend to protect him."

Peter looked really upset and hurt. That was the final straw for you.

"At least he in nice enough to actually have some friends who don't just use him for his reputation and money. He doesn't have to buy good friends like you Flash."

"Whatever y/n. We all know that Peter's just a liar. As far as I'm concerned, Spider-Man is not your friend." You hated Flash.

Peter walked off outside and you followed him.

"Hey Peter. Don't let Flash get under your skin. He is a loser with no life." You hugged him.

"Thanks y/n. You are seriously the coolest friend in the world." He hugged back.

"Are you gonna get changed into the suit?" You asked.

"Yeah..." Peter sighed. "I'm sorry I just-"

"It is ok. Just go for it ok?" You smiled.

"Thanks... umm... do you think that maybe Hunter could back me up?" Peter asked.

"Hell yeah I am so gonna burn Flash. That'll shut him up."

Peter laughed. You walk up onto the roof. You cracked your knuckles and became Hunter. Peter took of his shirt revealing the Spider-Man suit underneath. "God, this is stupid. What am I doing?" Peter huffed.

"You know that you do not have to do this Peter." You put a comforting hand on Peter's shoulder.

Then there was a massive explosion around one and a half kilometres away from you. You and Peter looked at each other and then back at where the explosion was.

"I didn't get a vision so no one is going to get hurt." You reassured Peter.

"Ok. But that didn't look like a normal explosion. Let's go and check it out." Peter swung off and you followed. There was a open field. Peter went to shoot a web to the other side but it didn't make it. He looked at you. You just shot a chained arrow at a tree on the other side and pulled on it making it pull you flying across the field leaving Peter.

"Seriously!?" He yelled after you.

"Try to keep up Spider boy!" You yelled as you reached the other side of the field.

"I seriously hate you sometimes." He started running across the field and then the sprinklers started. So Peter was getting wet. You were literally dying of laughter. "This sucks." Peter huffed as he finally reached you.

"Oh hey. Glad you decided to join." You mocked.

Peter just rolled his eyes and swung off across the trees. You followed. The two of you arrived at the place where you saw the explosion. There was three men talking. Two of them seemed to be dealers and the other looked like the guy who was buying.

"Let's see I got black hole grenades...anti-gravity climbers..."

"Climbers?" The buyer walked forwards to the van.

"Oh. This must be where the ATM robbers got their stuff." Peter concluded.

"Yeah..." you nodded. Then Peter's phone went off. On the screen showed a funny profile picture of Ned. That is what the three of you did as each other's profile pictures. Weird and funny faces.

The dealers heard the noise and pointed their guns at the buyer. "Did you set us up?" One accused.

You and Peter jumped down to stop them.

"Hey! Hey! Come on! If you're gonna shoot at someone shoot me!" Peter distracted the guys.

"Alright." They pointed their guns at you and Peter. Peter webbed one of them but the other fired. You quickly jumped in front of Peter and the bullet hit you and fell to the ground at your feet. You were once again unharmed.

"What the-?" One of the guys questioned but you knocked him out before he could finish.

Suddenly behind you, one of the guys had put on a weird shocking fist mechanism and punched Peter sending him flying.

"Spider-Man!" You ran over to him. You helped him up. He was clutching his sides.

"Ok. So that hurt." He half heartedly laughed.

"No s**t Sherlock." You were concerned. What the hell was that thing? It wasn't like anything you have ever seen.

"Language." Peter mimicked you but grunted to grasp his side.

While you were busy helping Peter, the dealers had started to drive off. The buyer had left during the fight.

Peter webbed a door and was pulled along with it. "Ah! Hunter! I could use a little help here!"

"Oh right." You shot a chain arrow at the other door and was pulled along with it. They set off driving through the streets. You and Peter with with.

The 'shocker' guy got a gun out and was firing at you two. He missed the first three times. The next two didn't. One hit Peter's web and the other hit your chain. The van hit a bump and the gun the shocker guy was holding fell out onto a lawn. You didn't notice this. You both tumbled uncontrollably having lost the force direction. You tumbled on top of Peter.

"Uh sorry..." you stood up and helped him up. You ran after the truck trying to catch up. Peter tried to web the other door but it broke off.

"Great. Guess we're gonna take a shortcut. He ran off. You didn't. Instead you jumped into the trees and climbed to the top and used your enhanced vision to see where the van was. You found it and shot and arrow at a building that was located in the direction they we going.

You flew across the houses and buildings. Where's Peter? You thought as you looked around for him. You land on the building and jumped into a nearby tree. Then you hear a crash, another crash, screaming and the sound of footsteps on rooftops. You look around and see 300 meters away, you saw Peter huffing as he ran and swung through the trees. He followed the truck on the roofs of houses and with your enhanced hearing, you could hear him panting.

"There you are. Thought you got away from me didn't cha?" He jumped of the roof and almost landed on the van yelling. "Surprise!" But before he could land a winged figure picked him up and flew off.

"Spider-Man!" You yelled after him. He heard your voice and looked at you.

"Hunter! Can you help me out here please!?" Even in times like this he keeps the mood light. Wow.

You didn't hesitate. You abandoned your chase on the van and shot an arrow at the bird guy. It hit one of his wings and he pulled you off your feet along with him.

"Let go you little brat!" You yelled at you.

"Let go of him!" You demanded.

"Fine!" He flew up into the sky. High in the sky. The air around you was getting a little harder to breath in. Then Peter's logo on his back lit up and a parashoot came out of it. The bird guy dropped him and he was sent falling uncontrollably back down to the ground.

"No!" You screamed after Peter but then you saw he landed in a lake. "Thank God." You smiled. You didn't notice that the bird guy was now plummeting towards the ground.

"I'll teach you a lesson!" He yelled at you. He was getting closer and closer to the ground. You knew what he was doing. He was going to pull up at the last second and let you take all the impact. You hardened your blood to protect yourself. You heard a loud and deep thump of your body hitting the ground. The guy soared off. He clearly thought you were dead. Sucker.

After you were sure he was out of sight range you stood up. Thank the lord for your vibranium blood! Or else you would so be dead right now. Literally...

You walked around and then realised that Peter had fallen into that lake halfway through your fight with the bird guy. We really need to change that name. The 'bird guy' isn't good enough... Vulture? That works. We'll just call him the Vulture. Oh! Right! Peter fell! You reminded yourself. You calculated his whereabouts to be at a lake near the park. You quickly ran there to find Peter and your dad's suit bickering. Then you saw your dad's suit turn away and fly off you slightly heard what they were saying at the end.

"Mr. Stark! I don't need to go to col-" Peter was cut off by F.R.I.D.A.Y.

"Mr. Stark is no longer connected." The suit then flew off. Lol. Burn. You smiled at yourself. You walked over to Peter.

"Hey Spidey! Are you alright? That was a bit of a fall..." You smiled.

"Y/N!!" Peter jumped off the climbing bars he was sitting on and ran over to you. He hugged you tight. "Far out I thought something bad happened to you! You scared the s**t out of me!"

"LANGUAGE!" You pulled away from the hug and hit Peter's arm. "And I am fine. Don't worry. It is literally impossible for someone to hurt me." You smiled reassuring Peter.

"I know but I still seriously care about you a lot." Peter smiled. His mask was already off from talking to your dad. Well your dad's suit anyway. You smiled slightly at his words. Peter then realised what he had just said and quickly retracted clearing his throat awkwardly. You could see even though it was dark that he was blushing. "So uh... what happened after I you know... sort of... 'left' the fight?..."

"Oh. Just a little more struggle. Then he sort of started plummeting towards the ground." You used your hand to resemble the Vulture plummeting down. "But then he pulled up at the last minute and so I hit the ground. Hard. He obviously thought that I was dead because you know, velocity plus friction times mass times a hard ground equals a dead normal person. You shrugged." You laughed at your equation but Peter just looked at you with worried and upset eyes this did not go unnoticed by you. "Peter." You comforted him. "It is ok. I am fine." You smiled.

"I know that... I just..." Peter trailed off not finishing his sentence. "I uh just you know, if you were normal that would be pretty bad!" He laughed half heartedly. You could easily tell that this was not what he was planning on saying before. You just shrugged the thought off. "We uh, should probably head back now... to the uh party."

"Oh yeah right. The party. Let's go." You started walking back. "Hey Pete?" Peter stiffened but then relaxed smiling subconsciously at the nickname you gave him.

"Yeah?" He asked smiling.

"What did my dad say to you before? You know, when you were on the swings?" You asked. You did notice that Peter looked a little annoyed at the conversation he was having with your dad. Well his suit anyway.

"He basically said that I was irresponsible, and that I should not fight those guys..." There was something else that he didn't tell you. You could sense it.

"Is that all...?" You pushed on the topic. Just a little because you knew that he was hiding something.

"Uh... yep. Yeah. That was pretty much it. Nothing else..." Wow. This kid sucks at lying. You thought to yourself shaking your head.

"Alright then." You shrugged. "Wait. What is that?" You stopped pointing down at a glowy thing on the ground.

"It's some weird glowy thingy." Peter picked it up. It had a bunch of stuff around it.

"It looks like one of the weapons those guys used." You looked at it. "It is definitely alien technology. We should look at it tomorrow. We have tech don't we?"

"Oh yeah. We can do it then." Peter agreed. Then his phone rang. It was Ned. You could tell once again by the funny profile picture.

"Oh, hey Ned. I was just on my way back." Peter sighed. You heard Ned reply.

"Actually, I was calling to say maybe you shouldn't come back... Listen." Ned put his phone on speaker. So did Peter so you could hear clearly.

"When I say Penis, you say Parker!" Flash's voice came through the speaker. "Penis..." the crowd replied. "Parker!" Flash teased again, "Penis." "Parker!"

"THAT SON OF A-" You were about to finish but Ned came in.

"Wait! WHAT IS Y/N DOING WITH YOU!?" Crap this is gonna look bad... "Wait! ARE YOU TWO SNEAKING OUT TO-"

"NO! NED! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOO!" Peter had put his mask back on but you could tell his face was tomato red. But then again so was yours. "NED! NO! WE ARE NOT! HELL NO!" Peter was frantically shutting down Ned's thoughts of you two being together. "No." Peter added one more no.

"Ok! Ok! Sorry... but why is she with you then?" Peter looked at you, you silently shook your head gesturing 'no.'

"Uh... she was... helping me..." Peter looked at you for help to come up with an excuse.

"I was helping him find out where these guys were. Long story we'll tell you tomorrow Ned." You concluded. You sighed impressed with your lie as Ned believed it.

"Wow. That hurts Peter. I cannot be your guy in the chair but y/n can help you of course." Ned was offended.

"Ned. I was just there at the time so he turned to me for help. Ok? He is not favouring me over you ok?" You calmed Ned.

"Ok... Well see you at school tomorrow y/n." Ned concluded. "Peter." Ned said goodbye but he said Peter's name in a different tone before hanging up.

"Ok. So that was definitely one of the weirdest conversation I have had in awhile..." You huffed pulling an awkward face.

"Yeah..." Peter scratched the back of his neck. "Well I guess that I'll just go home then..." He saluted you in farewell and swung off with the glowy thingy.

Something told you that this was not going to be the last you would see of the Vulture...

You were right.
