Chapter 14
It was quiet. The only sounds in the dark cell was the clatter of chains or the sigh that came every so often.
Applejack was racking her brain for a plan. But her mind kept wandering.
I wonder where she is. If she's okay.
Applejack leaned her head back against the brick wall of the large dungeon cell. She looked out at the entrance. Torches on the wall gave the only in the dim area of the castle.
"This sucks".
Applejack turned her head. Sugarbelle looked at her.
"Tell me about it".
"Oh C'mon".
Applejack looked across the cell at Twilight and Pinkie Pie.
"You're Applejack", Twilight said. "The greatest hunter in Equestria and the smartest person I know. You've gotten us out of the stickiest situations before and you can do it again".
Applejack smiled. Twilight was a great motivator. She always raised their spirits when it was needed and right now, Applejack was starting to doubt even herself. Twilight looked at her seriously.
"Now. Rainbow needs you and we've gotta get out of here. Now think".
Applejack sat back. Everyone stared at the blonde, waiting for the famous words to come out of her mouth. Applejack looked around the room.
"Hmm".
Everyone looked at eachother. Twilight and Pinkie watched their friend. It was dead silent. Applejack smirked, looking up at them.
"Ah've got an idea".
Pinkie and Twilight smiled brightly.
Twilight looked at the queen. Queen Eden raised an eyebrow. Twilight smile gently.
"Don't worry your majesty", she said. "Applejack's plans always work".
Queen Eden sighed. "It's not that I'm worried about", she said. "I'm worried about Rainbow".
Applejack frowned and looked at the woman. She was worried too.
"Us too", she said quietly. "Trust me. Ah still blame mahself fir all this. But we'll get her back. Ah know it".
The queen smiled. She looked exhausted. She coughed into her arm.
"No. YOU will get her back. She needs you more than me".
Applejack was quiet. Rainbow's mother knew that Applejack was the only one that could really save Rainbow Dash, wherever and whenever. The hunter felt a sense of honor and responsibility.
"Yeah", she said, looking around at the group. "Ah will. Now, here's the plan".
----------------
Twilight crossed her arms and smirked. The group looked down at the unconscious guard fairies. It wasn't that hard. Applejack couldn't believe her plan actually worked.
"Told you it would work", she said boastfully.
Applejack placed her sword into its holder, rolling her eyes. She looked up at her.
"Yeah. Yeah. Whatever".
Twilight smiled and looked at Queen Eden.
"See??. Applejack's plans always work".
The queen was rubbing her tired and bruised wrists. She smiled tiredly.
"I had no shred of doubt", she said.
Applejack turned and looked at one of the umconscious guards. She walked over to her and knelt down. There were a ring of keys on his belt.
She picked it up and stood.
Applejack swung the keys on her finger, a smile on her face. The keys clanked in her grip.
"Bingo".
She walked over to the cell the others were in. Peering inside the room, she saw the king and a few of the guards inside with him. Applejack smirked.
"Well. Ready fir an escape??".
The men looked up at her. They smiled.
"Applejack", the king said, smiling. "You did it".
Applejack unlocked the cell, careful not to make too much noise when the cell door swung open. The girls walked in. Queen Eden knelt down beside her husband. The king coughed into his sleeve.
"Are you alright, my darling??", King Lightning asked, worry in his voice.
The queen smiled tiredly. They all were tired.
"I'm fine, dear. Just a bit under the weather".
Once they were all free, everyone turned and looked at Applejack.
"What's our next move AJ??", Pinkie asked.
Applejack brought a hand up to her chin, thinking.
"Hmm. Let's have a look around ta see what's goin round here".
Applejack looked at the girls.
"We find a way out of here".
---------------------
It was dead silent as they made their around each corner of the dungeon, their feet silent and stealthy. Noone spoke a word, not knowing what or who could be around each corner.
Applejack led the group, Twilight and Pinkie right behind her. The glow emitting from the fairies was enough to light their way. All three girls had their swords in their hands. They had stolen them from the unconscious gaurds.
The group walked quietly along, completely on edge and alert. Applejack stopped suddenly when she heard something. She immediately put a hand up and the others stopped. Applejack listened intensely. She heard sound. Footsteps. It was getting louder.
"Hide", she whispered, turning around.
They scattered. They all hid wherever they could.
Applejack, Twilight, and Pinkie Pie hid behind a large hanging flag, pressing against the wall. The flag all the way to the floor. Applejack thought it was ironic how the last time they were in a dungeon, they had hid in the same place. She smiled at the memory. The smiled was wiped off her face when Applejack heard footsteps nearby. She and the girls held their breaths, completely frozen.
The footsteps passed them. Applejack looked at the girls. She put a finger to her lips. She peeked out from behind the large banner flag. She looked both ways and saw noone. She didn't hear anything either. The coast was clear.
"Let's go", she whispered to the girls.
The three came out of their hiding places.
Applejack looked around, her heart poinding. That was a close one.
"Come on out you guys", she called quietly.
The others came out of hiding. The king and queen and the gaurds were up in the ceiling, hiding in large spaces in the wall. They had been well hidden. The fairies came down.
"That was close", Pinkie said.
Applejack nodded. "Yup. C'mon. Let's go".
"Hey", one of the guards said from afar.
Everyone turned and looked at him. The gaurd was looking at something at the end of the hall. They all walked over to him.
"What is it??", Applejack asked.
The guard smiled. "I think I found our way out", he said, pointing.
Applejack turned her head. She smiled when she saw an doorway a few feet away. An exit. Placing a hand in her hip, she looked at the gaurd.
"Nice goin", she said. She turned and looked at the others. "C'mon ya'll. We're gett'n out of here".
The group made their way out of the dungeon. Applejack looked around. It was much darker in the castle than it usually was. She suddenly spotted a window out of the corner of her eyes and turned towards it. Applejack saw that it was daytime but there was a weird color in the sky.
Her eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
"What the...".
That shouldn't be like that but she'd have to worry about that later. First they had to find a way out of the castle. The huntress turned and looked back at the King.
"Alright your highness", she said. "You know this castle better than we do. Which way do we go??".
King Lightning walked up to her. The king looked exhausted. Applejack remembered that he was sick. Hopefully he and the queen would make it through the journey to goodness knows where they had to go. The king looked around the empty halls, his wings fluttering slightly from time to time.
"Well", he said. "We should head to the East wing. That's where they'll least expect us to go. And it's there an exit there. Follow me".
And off they went, into the dark halls. Only Celestia knew what was waiting for them. But they had to try. Applejack followed closely behind. She was tired, hungry, and angry. But she had to keep going. For Rainbow Dash.
Hold on Rainbow. We're coming.
I'm so sorry!! I don't know why I didn't update for so long. But this week, I'll make it up to you guys. So yeah. I'm back. Let me know what cha think and I hope you enjoy this :)
