42. LIFE WITHOUT YOU
Jungkook approached the window and stood in front of the rain-glazed glass. He wanted to be in complete silence, just to stare at the raindrops running down the glass and not think about anything, but he couldn't stop. His thoughts kept coming back to the events of two days ago.
It was so recent, and sometimes it felt like forever. Each moment without V seemed to pull on mercilessly long. He had never missed someone this much before. Life without V was like a substitute for real life, like vegetation. Nothing made sense. He lacked everything. His smell, his deep voice, his laughter, which was one of the most beautiful sounds he heard. He missed the look of his eyes, the touch of his hands, the taste of his mouth, closeness to his body.
He took a deep breath, his throat tightening. He reached out and pointed with his fingertip, a rolling drop. The window was wet with rain, but he could still see a beautiful garden behind the glass. He remembered the impression it made when he first saw it. These beautiful bonsai trees, mini waterfall and gazebo, under which he wanted to sit. He could hardly stand this view now.
So he focused his dark eyes on the drops gliding over the smooth surface. It has been raining almost continuously since they parted. It seemed to him that nature reflected his feelings, almost like, in some romantic poem or movie. He was always amused that whenever things went wrong in the romantic books between the main characters, suddenly there were threatening clouds in the sky, almost as if nature felt the same way they did. But now he felt as if someone up there knew exactly what was going on in his soul, because since they parted, darkness had absorbed him.
For a moment he wondered when it was raining for the last time, and a slight smile crept over his lips. They were returning then from Yoongi's and Jimin's apartment. They were almost under the warehouse, when suddenly a huge downpour broke. It rained so hard that it took a moment, and both of them literally dripped with water. Jungkook jumped off the motorcycle like scalded as soon as V turned off the engine and started running towards the warehouse, trying to escape the incessant rain, but before he could run, V stopped him, stopping him in the best possible way.
He kissed him.
And maybe even the word "kissed" is not enough. He kissed him as if there was no tomorrow, stealing oxygen from his lungs. It was then that Jungkook understood why in all romantic films lovers are kissing in the rain. Not at all because the rain looks phenomenal in the frame, and the wet clothes hugging the athletic body are super sexy, but because this scene shows that lovers are able to go through everything together, even something as incomparable as nature. They show that their love will overcome anything, because love is an element.
The strongest element ever created.
And their love was just like that. Strong and invincible. It consumed them entirely without exception. It was a powerful element, tearing their hearts, but it was also timeless, able to survive everything. Now it was to decide their fate. It could destroy them or save them.
He remembered it as well as if it had only happened yesterday, as they stood in front of the warehouse entrance, soaking it in rain, showing each other tenderness. Jungkook was cold. He was so damn cold that he did not know whether he was shivering with cold or emotions, but nothing mattered except the warmth of V's lips, on his...
At this memory he licked his lips, wishing to taste the wonderful lips on them. He closed his eyes to recall his picture. Those immaculate blue eyes, looking at him with such love and that beautiful boxy smile.
Will V ever look at him that way again? Will he forgive him how much he hurt him?
Under his eyelids he saw a picture of his smooth, caramel skin, a sharp jaw line, a mouth worth every sin. He reached out, wanting to run his fingertips down his cheek, but the mara blurred as soon as it appeared.
- Don't tell me you think of him again. I need you focused, pretty boy! - a voice called suddenly behind him.
At the sound of that voice, Jungkook swallowed loudly, then licked his lips and put his hands in his pocket. He didn't want to show his weakness, although it probably was too late anyway.
- Would you believe if I told you I didn't? - he asked, still looking at the raindrops sliding down the glass.
- Ah, that's so naive. V is definitely fucking someone new by now - the blond man replied, rolling his eyes.
Jungkook gave him a scolding look over his shoulder. Baekhyun looked radiant and extremely fresh. He was wearing a white shirt and burgundy velvet pants. His lips adorned a smile. Seeing the joy in his amber eyes, he clenched his fists tightly.
- You don't know him at all... - he whispered.
- Sure I know him. Actually... Longer than you, pretty boy - Baekhyun said, approaching Jungkook. He stopped only when he was at his fingertips. He reached out and grabbed the boy by the chin, turning his face toward him. Their eyes met. - You have been awake for two days, your thoughts are still going back to him, you remember every gesture, every word... And you probably won't be able to forget about it for a long time, but do not be deluded that V will do the same. He will forget you sooner than you think. Vampires are always like that... Something that for you is worthy of pondering for many months, maybe even years in this case, for V will only be like a faint memory left by someone who once passed him on the street. Your relationship is like an insignificant blink of an eye to him.
Jungkook grabbed Baekhyun's hand and pulled it away from his face. The vampire knew what he was afraid of and was preying on his fear, but he didn't want to give him that satisfaction. He gave him a menacing look. The blond did not drop his smile, and Jungkook wanted to wipe it off with his fist. He clenched his hands tightly, feeling burning in the place where the nails stick into the skin.
- If vampires forget so easily, why didn't you forget about him? You can fuck with your little dancer, but you still think about him, aren't you? And you can't stand the thought that he can think of me.
Baekhyun laughed out loud and ruffled his hair with his hand, then turned on his heel and started toward the mini bar.
- Now we won't find out, will we? - he replied, reaching for the glass and filling it with some golden liquid, then took a few sips. - You'd better take a hold of yourself, because from today we are starting our plan. And I advise you not to think of make anything stupid. If at least I think you are trying to contact him, our contract is broken - he added and without waiting for his answer, he left the salon, leaving him alone. Jungkook clenched his hands and dug his nails into his skin so hard, until the pain was unbearable, and it wasn't even half as strong as the damn stinging in his heart every time he thought about what he had lost.

He listened to the monotonous signal on his phone, feeling like with each subsequent sound, his nerves increase. With a loud moan of disapproval, he pushed the phone away from his ear and looked at the display as if to urge his interlocutor to finally answer, and then pushed the cell phone to his ear again.
- Please, answer... - he said under his breath, tapping his fingers nervously on the table top.
He listened the signal for a moment, then hung up and looked at his boyfriend, who was now leaning against his car and watching him closely. One look was enough for Yoongi to know what he meant. He opened the passenger door in front of him and gestured for him to get in. Jimin slid into the seat, still holding the phone in his hand. He followed Yoongi with his eyes as he walked around the car and after a while he also took his place. The blond vampire settled in and looked at the younger man.
- I promise it will take literally a moment - Jimin said, making goo-goo eyes. - I've been calling them for two days. Jungkook's cell is still off, V is not answering... What if Jin...
Yoongi smiled gently and reached out his hand to stroke his boyfriend's cheek, then stole a quick, soft kiss. His lips tasted of cherry lip balm.
- I love how you care about everyone.
Jimin bit his lower lip and blushed slightly. Yoongi started the engine and carefully drove out of the garage. It was still raining outside. It was raining constantly for the third day, so the surface was slippery. They were going to visit Hobi today to help him with the young vampires who were still under his protection. The road would not take them much time. The red-haired house was not far from their apartment, but as soon as he left the road, he turned in a completely different direction, not the one leading to Hobi's, but the one leading to the warehouse in which V lived.
He saw Jimin calling Jungkook and V since the morning, but each time the effect was the same. They knew that Jin found out about Jungkook, so the total lack of contact was very disturbing. Yoongi did not want to say it out loud so as not to stress his boyfriend even more, but he also felt nervous. He drove as fast as the conditions on the road allowed, listening to the sound of the windscreen wipers sliding across the windshield and the noise of rain hitting the body of the car.
Jimin was sitting next to him, clutching the phone in his hands. His full lips were now narrowed. Small fingers banged on the casing of the cell. The vampire stared at the display for a moment, then, unable to resist, dialed V's number again and put the device to his ear. Hearing a long, monotonous signal on the other side, Yoongi's hand almost unknowingly sought out the smaller one and squeezed it slightly.
- We'll be there in about twenty minutes - he said in a protective voice, and Jimin smiled wanly at him.
They spent the rest of the road in silence, which was broken only by the same monotonous signal when Jimin dialed V's number again and again. He gave up only when Yoongi stopped the car in the driveway. Before the workshop there was no Jungkook's motorcycle, there was only a black Ducati, which was owned by V. The blond vampire parked the car and turned off the engine, then looked at the younger, trying to give him comfort with his warm look.
Jimin took a deep breath and closed his eyes. When oxygen left his lungs while breathing out slowly, he opened them again and met Yoongi's eyes. He nodded at him as a sign that he was ready and got out of the car. The rain was a bit smaller, but it still didn't stop raining, so he quickly ran towards the entrance and opened the door, waiting for Yoongi to join him. Only when they were together did they enter.
The training room was empty and looked as if nobody had been training here for at least a few days. Jimin looked around carefully, but there was no sign of any men's indifference, so he started up the stairs towards apartment. He knocked on the door, but as he expected, only silence answered him. The walls of the apartment were soundproof, so he couldn't hear if anyone was inside. He carefully put his hand on the door handle and pressed on it. Many times they came to V and without any notice they just came in without invitation. They had been friends for so long and knew each other so well that this magazine was almost like a second home for them. Before V and Jungkook moved in together, they were here much more often. They often sat here, talking on various topics, but since the relationship of the two became serious, they wanted to give them more freedom and time to enjoy each other properly, and not to enter during their idyll, they learned to knock before they enter inside.
Last time, when a similar situation occurred, when he could not contact either Jungkook or V and told Yoong to come to the warehouse and check if the blond was all right, his boyfriend found the two in an almost ambiguous situation. Then Yoongi was driving him nuts for at least a week swearing that he will never get involved into something like that again, but this time they both felt a strange anxiety about this sudden lack of contact. V told them what happened in the workshop. Jin learned the truth about Jungkook, knew that it was him who V loved and could want to hurt him at any time.
When Jimin opened the door, he saw that the interior of the apartment was embraced by the darkness. There was no activity anywhere. There was almost complete silence. Maybe they are still sleeping - he thought, moving uncertainly toward the stairs leading to the bedroom. It was also dark there, the windows were obscured by black curtains, preventing the rays of the sun from penetrating inside the room. Jimin knitted his eyebrows together, looking confused. There was an unpleasant smell of strong alcohol in the air. He turned on the light and blinked several times to accustom his eyes to the new lighting.
- J-Jungkook? - a deep hoarse voice said suddenly. At first Jimin didn't know who it belonged to. It sounded strange. He turned his face to the direction from where he was calling. - Koo, is that you? - the voice asked again. There was some desperation in it, but now he was sure who it belonged to.
V.
Jimin blinked quickly several times, almost rubbing his eyes in surprise, then combed his blond hair nervously and took a few steps forward, approaching the vampire.
- V? What are you doing? What's happening? - he asked, covering the distance between them.
The vampire was sitting in the empty hot tub, wearing a gray sweatshirt and black pants, his feet barefoot. Hair in total disarray, he looked as if he hadn't shaved in a few days, had shadows under his eyes, lips slightly chapped, as if he bit them often. In his hand was a bottle of transparent liquid that was almost empty. Jimin looked at the label and no longer had any doubts about the unpleasant smell of alcohol in the air. V raised his head and their eyes crossed. His eyes were a bit cloudy, evidently drunk alcohol did its job.
- V, where is Jungkook? - Jimin asked, surreptitiously glancing at Yoongi who was standing in the doorway of the room, watching them closely.
- H-he's not here... - V whispered.
Now Jimin knew why his voice sounded so strange before. The vampire was drunk. He crouched in front of the jacuzzi to lower himself to his friend's level and raised his chin gently, forcing V to look at him. His eyes were bloodshot, slightly swollen.
- Why is he not here? V, did... Did Jin do something to him? - he asked, feeling nervousness. Just saying the words out loud caused shivers on his body. Jungkook was his friend, he couldn't imagine anyone hurting him.
- H-he left me... He took... He took everything and... Lh-left... - V choked out finally, then buried his face in his hands.
Jimin looked at Yoongi and they exchanged knowing glances. The platinum blond approached him and stood next to him. Jimin brushed the matted blond hair from V's face and lifted his chin again.
- Why did he leave you? - he repeated with concern. - What happened? Did you two argue?
He had to admit that he was very surprised by his friend's confession. It was something he would never have expected. V and Jungkook were made for each other. When you looked at them, you wanted to experience the same thing they had. He and Yoongi loved each other very much, but even their feelings could not match the one they shared. Jimin has never seen anything like it. They were like two halves of the same apple, like one soul, in two bodies. They looked at each other with a love he had never seen before. There was something magical about them. And it wasn't about physical drive at all. It was obvious that they wanted each other in this less refined way, the more primitive, carnal, but what he saw, looking at them, was the depth of their feelings. Sometimes it seemed to him that maybe this two loved each other too much.
- Nh-no... He... I... I lost him...
Jimin looked at his boyfriend again and Yoongi nodded at him. He reached out his hand to him and helped him up. He wrapped his hand around his waist, placing his hand on his lower back, and brought his face closer to him to whisper something in his ear.
- Go to Hobi. We can't leave him alone with all this. I'll take care of him.
- Are you sure?
- I'm sure, honey - he replied, grabbing his hand and squeezing it gently. - And I will probably stay here overnight. I think it's better not to leave him alone now...
- Call me later and tell me how is he doing, alright? he asked and put their lips together in a short, soft kiss.
- I'll call you - he replied.
Jimin stroked his cheek tenderly, then headed for the stairs, and Yoongi followed him with his eyes until the boy disappeared from his line of sight. When they were alone with V, he approached the jacuzzi, in which the blond man sat and sat on the edge, slipping his legs inside. The vampire looked up and they stared at each other in complete silence. After a moment V lifted the bottle in his hand and put its neck to his mouth, pouring a few sips of alcohol into his throat. The unpleasant smell of vodka crept into Yoong's nostrils, and he winces slightly.
- V, what happened? - he asked.
There was concern in his voice, but no pity. He knew V hated pity. He knew him so well that he knew he was suffering really badly. V and Jimin knew each other much longer, before the change of Jimin and soon after they were lovers, but he and V were now closer. It was him who urged him to confess his feelings to Jungkook, and he supported him in the search for the boy when he was kidnapped, and he was now helping him find Jin. He saw how much he suffered going through all this, how he was afraid that he would lose the person he loves so much. Yoongi was determined to help him protect Jungkook.
He did not foresee, however, that Jungkook might want to leave...
- I lost him, Yoongs. This time I lost him for good... - he said, slightly dragging the words under the influence of the percentage that his body took.
- You were made to be together. Jungkook... He really loves you. It doesn't make any sense...
- He said... - V began, but paused when his voice refused to obey him.
He didn't know if it was the effect of alcohol or something else, but he felt a burning sensation under his eyelids just remembering what Jungkook had told him.
"I want to have a normal life. I want to be with someone who will not imprison me in four walls, who will not watch me at every step... I want to be with someone whom I can love without fearing for my own life."
- He said I made him a prisoner, he didn't want to live, still looking over his shoulder and fearing for his own life. And he... He... Yoongs, he is right...
- Oh V. That's not true. You didn't imprison him, you just want to protect him... You love him... - Yoongi protested, wanting to say something that would raise V's spirits.
At his words the blond man looked up and again looked his friend straight in the eye. He was as shattered as if his soul had fallen into the worst depths and shattered before his eyes into small pieces like Chinese porcelain. Yoongi saw the battlefield in his sad blue eyes and the footprints on his soul that had been torn apart and trampled without a trace of pity.
- Maybe that's my problem... That I love him too much... And I can't stop... I would like... - He paused again, as if the spoken words caused him physical pain. - I'd like to stop feeling anything... - he confessed, his eyes glazed like blue mirrors.
V looked away, as if he couldn't bear the friend's eager look, then put the bottle back to his mouth and took a few sips. Strong alcohol burned his esophagus, but he didn't even grimace. He wanted to get drunk to forget, although he knew that there was not enough alcohol in the world to forget those chocolate irises and raspberry lips. He didn't even know how long he sat here and how much alcohol he drank, but nothing helped. He still felt the pain and that terrible emptiness.
Nothing mattered without him.
Instinctively, he clenched his left hand and felt the cold of the object that he was squeezing in it. Reminding himself of this, he reached out and looked carefully at it. Seeing what V was holding, Yoongi visibly tensed.
- V-V... What are you doing? - he asked quickly.
There was nervousness in his voice, his muscles tensed visibly, as if he was getting ready to attack. He raised his hands gently and slowly began to extend them toward V, as if to take away what he was holding. The blond man looked at him.
- I got this dagger from Jungkook - he began to speak suddenly, looking at the shiny blade.
Yoongi followed his eyes uncertainly. He had to admit that the dagger was really beautiful. It was certainly hand-made, as he guessed, probably made of pure silver. It was small, just perfect to fit in the palm of your hand and to hide it behind a belt of pants, but the blade was razor sharp, he was sure of it. It was enough to look at its shiny surface. The handle was slightly bent, as was the blade itself, which made the whole shape resemble a slightly curved letter S. The dagger was reminiscent of an antique, decorated handjar, but Yoongi knew that Jungkook had made it. V told him about it some time ago, when he proudly showed him what brunet gave him.
The boy made this pure silver dagger for him to protect him, but now that V was sitting in the tub, drunk with vodka and sadness after losing the one he loved, Yoongi feared that it could become a deadly tool in his hands. He would like to take it from V's hand and hide it, but he could not afford such a gesture. After the torture V survived, the blond became strongly resistant to silver, but his skin would burn with live fire. The more his anxiety grew, as he watched how tenderly V watched the shimmering blade, holding the silver dagger in his hands, without the slightest sign of pain, though he knew he must have felt it.
- Ever since I realized I loved him, I wondered what would happen if I lost him. Human life is so fragile. Jungkook is a hybrid and maybe he is faster, stronger but he is also mortal. And you don't need a silver dagger to take his life. A moment of inattention would be enough... And I could lose him... And I couldn't imagine my life without him. All the more so now that I know what life with HIM tastes like. While I was thinking about it, I made a plan in my mind in case something happened to him...
- V... - Yoongi moaned, watching V slide his finger over the blade of the knife. It was so sharp that it took a moment, and the vampire's skin was crimson. The blond man smiled sadly and looked at him from under his long eyelashes, then put a finger to his lips and drank a drop of blood from it.
- You are right... - he whispered, confirming his friend's fears. - I decided not to live without him...
V fell silent and they both sat in silence for a few moments. His words hung heavily over their heads. The vampire was still staring at the dagger's blade. There was something strange in his eyes. Yoongi had the impression that he was looking at it with fascination, a kind of longing and anxiety. He felt dry mouth and licked his lips nervously.
- Now that Jungkook has disappeared... I thought about my resolution and... I took out the dagger... I wanted... - He fell silent, as if thinking about how to say it. - I wanted to end it...
- V... Don't do anything stupid...
- I sat with that dagger in my hand for several hours. It seemed so simple. It was enough to just swing and pierce my heart, but... I couldn't... I was thinking all the time about what Jungkook wrote to me in his goodbye letter... That he hopes that one day our paths will meet again... And the only thing, I could think of, and what if he comes back? If he... And I couldn't do it...
Yoongi approached him and grabbed his forearm to stop him from doing stupid things. He was afraid that V might want to hurt himself.
- Yoongi, I couldn't do it... - he repeated.
Words struggled through his throat. He felt like a coward. He wanted nothing more than to turn off his emotions, stop feeling and become numb to it all. He wanted the courage to drive this damn dagger into his heart, but he couldn't think of anything but that if he did, there would be no turning back. What if he pierced his heart and Jungkook comes back?
He felt that the dagger suddenly become much heavier and his hand began to tremble. Yoongi still held his wrist and stared straight into his eyes. He felt his eyes burn, his lower lip began to tremble. He hated crying. He didn't like being weak, but without him nothing made sense.
- Please, help me... - he whispered in a breaking voice, pulling the dagger towards his friend.
Hearing his request, Yoongi came closer, wrapped his arms around his arms and hugged him as hard as he could, wanting to show him that he still had someone to live for. After a moment, he felt V's body loosen slightly in his arms. V released the dagger and embraced him with his hands, and Yoongi let the vampire hide his face in the hollow of his neck and cry like a small baby.

Have you ever done something so surreal that you get the impression that it's a dream? When do you think the alarm clock will ring in a moment and wake you out of this dream? You wait and wait, but such a moment does not come. And the worst part is that you know this moment will not come.
Never.
Because what is really happening. No matter how much you desire it to not be real...
This is how Jungkook felt now, sitting in the passenger seat of the car and looking at the blond vampire who was next to him. The elder did not seem to notice him, but he knew he was watching him. He saw those furtive glances he was throwing through the mirror.
- You'll burn a hole in my head in a minute - he said suddenly, and Jungkook just rolled his eyes.
- If you told me where we're going, I wouldn't be staring like that.
- Are you always so impatient? Relax, you'll find out soon enough.
Jungkook sighed and turned back to the window. The rain continued, which made the air feel damp and the temperature dropped significantly. Instinctively, he put the hood of a black sweatshirt over his head and pulled the sleeve cuffs on his hands. He leaned his head against the glass and looked at the image that was blurring in front of his eyes.
He was wondering what V was doing now? Did he think about him? Did he find his letter? Will they ever see each other again?
He bit his lower lip, feeling emotions rising in him, like the Han River after rain. He could not imagine his life without V. He knew that it would be hard to stay away, but he did not think it would be so hard. He took a deep breath and the smell of V crept into his nostrils. He was wearing his sweatshirt. When he was packing, he took it with him. He wanted to have something that belonged to him, but now that he felt the wonderfully familiar smell, he felt tears welling up in his eyes and blinked quickly several times. After a while he pulled the hood tighter and focused his gaze on the raindrops shattering against the car window.
- When I lost V... - the vampire suddenly began.
Jungkook was surprised by his tone and the way he spoke. There was nostalgia in his voice. Brunet had lived with him for two days, but until now their conversations were limited to unpleasant exchanges of words or giving orders. Now the vampire sounded as if he wanted to help him in some way, and that made him feel twice as bad, because he was largely the culprit. Instinctively, he clenched his fists, but didn't even look at him, still staring at the blurry images behind the car window.
- At that time, I did everything to forget about him. I avoided the places we were together or which I somehow associated with him. I slept around with everyone who I liked and who didn't look like him. In the end I yelled to Europe and I created a new life there.
- See, that's how we differ. You lost him of your own free will and you did everything to forget about him, and I... I was forced to take this decision and I want to do everything to never forget about him... - Jungkook replied through clenched teeth, turning away suddenly towards the driver.
He felt anger and hatred for the vampire sitting next to him almost tearing his body apart. He wanted to tear him apart with his bare hands for what he forced him to do, but he remembered why he did it. V's life was more important than his broken heart. He had to deal with this pain and do his part. And if at the end of this story he will be still alive, he will do everything to get him back...
- You only keep torturing yourself by thinking of someone who will never be yours again...
- I have to admit that you came up with a great plan, Baek - Jungkook replied. For a moment their eyes met. His gaze was hard, burning with all the hatred he carried. - You couldn't get him back, so you came up with a good way to get rid of me, didn't you? - he asked.
He had this question at the tip of his tongue since Baekhyun had offered him cooperation. At first, he was glad when Baek told him that he would help them get Jin, but his happiness did not last long. It was enough for him to meet his gaze and see that gentle smile playing on his lips to know that there was a condition. He has already learned that in the case of Baekhyun nothing it's free. And he was right. The vampire came up with the price he had to pay for V's freedom. He should have expected him to ask for such a thing, but still hearing his words, he felt as if someone was giving him a strong blow straight in the stomach.
The vampire laughed out loud, then pulled off the road and parked the car. He took his hands off the steering wheel and pulled on the hand, then turned toward him.
- Oh Jungkookie, don't dramatize. We both know that V would soon get bored with you. You don't think he would be with you in ten years, do you? You may be handsome, I can't deny it, but your charms will pass. In a few years, V would find someone equally attractive who would be ten years younger than you, and would leave you as a child leaves an old, worn toy... You should thank me for helping you leave before it happens. Isn't it better to leave before someone abandons us?
- You know it's not true and that's why you made this deal with me... You can lie as much as you want, but you won't fool me, Baek. You can't stand the fact that V loves me... - he said sharply, after a while he opened his mouth to add something, when suddenly Baekhyun reached out his hand and grabbed his throat, clenching his bony fingers tightly around his larynx. - Aaah!
- From now on, I add another point to our contract. Keep that damn mouth shut, because if you keep on talking, I will kill you before you can even look at Jin! - he snarled furiously. His hand tightened even more, almost crushing his windpipe. Jungkook clenched his jaw tightly, wincing in pain. He was convinced that Baekhyun's fingers left blue marks on his milky skin. - Are we understand each other? - he drawled through his teeth. Brunet nodded slightly, still wincing in pain, and in response, the vampire's grip just squeezed more. - I didn't hear it! Are we understand each other?! - he growled.
- Yh-yes! - he choked out with difficulty.
- I'm glad - Baekhyun said.
His lips formed a beautiful smile, and the hand released its grip, additionally slightly pushing Jungkook back so that he fell on the back of the seat. Brunet almost instinctively touched his neck with his hand, massaging gently red skin. Leaning against the backrest, he felt the cold of his silver dagger, which he slipped into his belt when they left Baek's house. If he could, he would pull it out and joyfully pierced into the vampire's heart, but he knew he couldn't do it. Baekhyun was the only person who knew where Jin was. He had come so far that he could not back down now.
The blond vampire adjusted his suit and looked into the upper mirror, smoothing his blond hair, then glanced quickly at Jungkook. He saw the tension in his body and how the boy clenched his fists. He was sure the younger hated him, but that didn't bother him in the slightest. All he wanted was to protect V and get rid of this boy out of the vampire's life, and he was on his way to achieve it. Without thinking about it, he grabbed the umbrella and opened the car door.
- If you care about protecting V at least a little, get over it and come. We don't have much time and we are already late... - he said and got out, slamming the door firmly.
Jungkook let out a breath and looked at his hands, which were now trembling with anger. He knew that working with Baekhyun would not be easy, but he had to remember why he did it. He closed his eyes and brought up V's face in his mind. His beautiful eyes, shiny and flawless blue, caramel skin, lips cut with the artist's chisel.
He opened the door and also got out of the car. Under the influence of constant rainfall the temperature was only a few degrees, which gave him an unpleasant shiver. He took a deep breath, drawing in the cold air into his lungs, and when he released it again, his breath formed into a small white cloud. He pulled the hood of the sweatshirt more tightly over his head and sleeves so that it covered his hands and followed in the footsteps of the blond vampire, who walked slowly proudly a few meters in front of him.
The vampires didn't feel cold. Baekhyun looked great in his hand-tailored suit, which perfectly matched his figure, in his right hand he held an umbrella that protected him from the rain. When Jungkook ran up to him, he gave him a furtive glance. For a moment he watched as the boy cradled his shoulders gently under the influence of cold and as he bowed his head slightly so that raindrops would stop on the hood of his black sweatshirt. Still, a few dark strands of his hair slipped out from under the soft fabric and were now completely wet. He watched for a moment as the rain drops glide over these strands and like the lower lip brunet trembles slightly from the cold.
The more he watched him, the better he understood why V liked Jungkook. He had to admit that the boy was really attractive. Perhaps he did not want to admit it before, blinded by jealousy, but he could not deny how endearing was the fact that the boy didn't even have to try to look sexy. Even now, when he crouched, hiding from the rain, he looked very manly. The leather jacket emphasized his broad shoulders, he had black, tight jeans on his legs, which emphasized long, athletic legs, heavy black shoes on his feet. His silhouette was almost perfect.
- Come on - he said shortly, then went without any explanation.
They were from one of the less populated districts of Seoul not far from the Han River. It was here that a large part of the magazines was located, but also here was the cradle of shady interests. Baekhyun has been a frequent visitor here lately. He headed towards one of the warehouses where his meeting was scheduled. As he walked, he felt the wet ground collapse beneath his elegant shoes, and looked disgusted as his favorite Prada shoes now covered by the mud. He'll probably have to throw them out, he thought, dissatisfied, and quickened his pace. He didn't turn back, but he heard Jungkook's heavy boots crush the gravel on the road. The boy slipped his frozen hands into his pants pockets and followed him without a word, just looking around from time to time.
When they reached the designated warehouse, Baekhyun saw that an old dark blue Skoda was standing in front of the warehouse, which meant that their interlocutor was already in place. Without knocking, he opened the door and looked over Jungkook's shoulder. The brunet's lips have turned a little bluer, probably due to the low temperature.
- Just remember, do not mess around with me - he warned. - If I see you are up to something, our contract is invalid - he added, then went inside.
Inside the light was on and it was slightly warmer, but it felt damp and musty. Jungkook slipped his wet hood off his head and brushed his hair with his hand. When Baekhyun looked at him, he noticed that rain was dripping from several of the front strands. One of them dripped on the boy's lower lip, and he licked it with his tongue, unaware that the vampire was watching him. Baekhyun looked away and moved deeper into the warehouse, where two amused voices came from.
Jungkook listened carefully to all the sounds coming, trying to catch the words as V taught him. After a while he managed to make the conversation of the two men seem clearer, as if it was reaching him from a short distance, although he did not approach them. The men were in a good mood, talking about some supplies, joking and laughing. When they approached them enough for Baekhyun to appear in their line of sight, they both fell silent but did not look nervous.
- Baek! - one of them shouted, smiling towards him, but the vampire only gave him a menacing look.
- Who is this? - he growled, frowning. - I told you that if we are to cooperate, you have to keep your mouth shut.
- Relax! - said the other, raising his hands in a defensive gesture. - It's just my cousin. He won't tell anyone anything.
Jungkook looked at him closely. There was something strange about the man. He was unnaturally excited, as if he were full of energy. For a moment he wondered if the man was under the influence of drugs.
- I said clearly that I will not cooperate with anyone else and that you are not to tell anyone. I don't give a shit if it's your cousin or the ass you fuck! - Baekhyun growled again, approaching the man's cousin.
The vampire was clearly nervous, which made Jungkook feel growing anxiety. He didn't know why they were here and what business Baekhyun did with this man, but if he wanted the vampire to lead him to Jin, he had to submit to him. So he stayed in his place and only watched the whole incident. The blond approached the man and took the bag from his shoulder, which he had just hung on it. The man grabbed it as if he were protecting something valuable, but when Baek looked at him with scolding eyes, he immediately took his hands away. The vampire put the bag on the table and unbuttoned it, revealing all its contents.
Vamptasy Vials.
Jungkook felt his pulse speed up. They must have been the dealers Baekhyun worked with. He did not know that the vampire also distributed Vamptasy outside of EXO. It seems that V and Yoongi did not know that either. The vampire grabbed the man's cousin under his chin and began to speak to him in a low, calm voice. Brunet was convinced that he was using his persuasion to achieve the intended effect.
- You will politely leave from here and forget about everything you saw here and what your cousin told you about me and about Vamptasy, do you understand? - his voice was low enough for his colleague to not hear, but loud enough for Jungkook to understand his words.
The short man nodded, then obediently moved to leave. Satisfied with his achievement, Baekhyun turned on his heel and looked again at the dealer with whom he cooperated.
- I told you not to tell anyone about me - he growled again.
The dealer laughed nervously, then looked at the bag Vamptasy was in and licked his lips. Jungkook could swear he hears his heart pounding in his chest.
- I came to settle accounts - Baekhyun continued in a calmer voice.
The man grabbed the suitcase and handed it to the vampire, who approached him and almost pulled it out of his hands. He opened the suitcase and briefly looked at its contents. The interior was filled with banknotes, Jungkook was convinced that there were at least several million won inside. He knew Vamptasy was very popular now and it was a hug amount of money, but the vampire didn't look pleased.
- Where's the rest!? - he asked, looking hard at the dealer, who now looked much more nervous. - Did you take something!? - he snarled after a moment. It was a question, but the vampire didn't ask. He knew the answer. He approached the man and gripped his dark brown jacket tightly, almost lifting him up. - Do you take Vamptasy instead of selling it to customers? - he asked again, in that characteristic, calm voice that the vampires used to use persuasion.
- Nh-no... - he lied, not knowing that this lie merely confirmed Baekhyun's assumptions.
Jungkook knew full well that only someone who was a vampire himself or took vampire blood would be able to resist persuasion. He saw Baekhyun's jaw clench under anger. He had the impression that the blond would hit the man soon, but he only turned to Jungkook and looked him up and down. His eyesight was so intense that he felt uncomfortable. After a while, however, Baekhyun straightened up, and all tension disappeared somewhere. The blond man released the man's jacket and dusted his hands, making a disgusted face as if he had just touched something dirty. He stepped away from the dealer and looked at Jungkook, taking a few steps toward him.
- Beat him up - he commanded.
Brunet's eyes widened in surprise. He wasn't sure he had heard the words that spoke the vampire's lips. He licked his lips nervously.
- Wh-what? - he asked.
- What you just heard. Beat him up! - he repeated.
As he spoke those words, his eyelid didn't even twitch. Jungkook laughed nervously and walked from foot to foot.
- Why should I do this? It has nothing to do with protecting V... - he began, but before he could finish his speech, Baekhyun interrupted him.
- I don't give a shit! If you want to live to see the day when you meet with Jin, you have to do what I'm telling you and you have to do it with a smile on your face, you understand or should I consider our contract just ended?! - his voice was hard and hostile.
The vampire almost screamed, his eyes darkened and that was enough for Jungkook to know that Baekhyun was not joking. He brushed his hair with his hand and approached the man. He heard their conversation, instinctively backed up a few steps, but the long legs of brunet quickly overcame their distance. The boy leaped over to the stranger and grabbed him strongly by the dark brown jacket. The man howled miserably, trying to pull away from his iron grip, but Jungkook used his increased strength to keep him in place.
He looked at the man's face. It was contorted slightly in a grimace of pain, his eyes unnaturally enlarged. Perhaps the man took Vamptasy, but it was probably long enough that his strength was disproportionate to the skill and strength of the hybrid. Jungkook, however, could not show Baekhyun that he was not an ordinary person, so he allowed the man to struggle in his embrace for a moment. After a while, he took a deep breath and punched him for the first time, which caused the man to moaned loudly.
It was not the first time when he was fighting. As a teenager, he often troubled and engaged in countless fights, for which his uncle always scolded him, but he never beat anyone with such premeditation. Now he had no choice. So he tightened his jaw harder and with all his strength hit him again and again...
His ears roared, he heard his own broken breath, felt the pain in his hand, and saw the man's face turn red with each successive blow, covering itself with crimson. Blood dripped from his nose and mouth, dripping down his chin, but he knew Baekhyun was still watching him, so he didn't stop. Ignoring the pain in his hand and burning under his eyelids, he dealt a blow after blow.
He didn't know how long it took. It was only when he felt that he couldn't breathe anymore, and the man almost lost consciousness, released his jacket and stepped away from him, falling to his knees. He was gasping for air. He felt his salty tears on his cheeks, his lower lip trembled, his hand burned with pain. When he looked at it, he saw that the skin on his knuckles was stripped to his blood. The man he had attacked was now unconscious on the ground in front of him, his face like a pulp. Jungkook stared at him, unable to move.
After a while, he heard the tapping of elegant shoes on the stone ground, and Prada's black shoes appeared. He looked up and met Baekhyun's amber eyes. He thought he saw something new in them. Some strange flash of excitement. The vampire smiled at him and gave him a white cloth so that he could wrap his bleeding hand with it. Jungkook hesitated for a moment, but finally took the delicate fabric from him and put it to his tattered hand, then looked at the vampire again, as if expecting him to explain why he ordered him to do it.
- Congratulations, Jungkook. You just got yourself the job of one of Jin's dealers - Baekhyun said, smiling broadly at him. - Get the hold of yourself, I'll wait in the car - he added, then turned on his heel and left the warehouse, taking with him a suitcase with money and the remaining vamptasy vials.
