41. HOUSE OF CARDS
It was still quite dark in the room when V raised his heavy eyelids. He was sleepy. After the excitement of yesterday and sex with Jungkook, he was exhausted, and he slept like a baby. He did not wake up that night. It was only now that some strange noise woke him up. He rolled over, wanting to cuddle into the naked and hot body of the brunet, but when he did, he saw that he was lying in bed alone again. He pulled his eyebrows together. He also woke up alone in bed yesterday. He didn't like it. Instinctively, he reached out and put his hand in the place where his beloved should be. When he felt that the sheet still showed signs of warmth, he calmed down a bit.
Perhaps the boy was training again. He noticed that Jungkook had slept worse lately. He probably worried that Jin knew more and more about him. If he could, he would assure him every night that he would do anything to protect him, but it seemed that his assurances were not enough. Surely the boy knew that V would do anything to keep him safe, but perhaps this knowledge was making him sleepless. He knew well that the younger was as afraid of losing him as he was afraid that Jin would hurt Jungkook.
Perhaps this was what love was about? That you want to protect your loved one, even at the price of your own safety.
He rolled over and listened for a moment to the monotonous sound of rain coming through the ajar window. He could smell its fresh smell. The soft morning light, timidly burst through the curtains, illuminating the bedroom. For a moment he was wondering when it was raining for the last time. He liked to watch the raindrops glide over the glass, but whenever it rained he felt a strange anxiety. As if nature told him that something bad would happen. He also felt similar now. Some irrational fear was crawling under his skin, trying to get out.
Suddenly a strange noise reached his ears, as if someone had dropped something on the floor, then a muffled curse. That was enough, however, for his senses to work at its best. Resting on his hands, he rose to a sitting position and looked around the room. He was almost one hundred percent sure that the sound came from their wardrobe, which surprised him immensely. He lowered his bare feet to the floor and reached for his phone to check the time. It wasn't even six in the morning.
He got out of bed and wrapped a sheet around his hips, then slowly walked toward the wardrobe, trying to keep as quiet as possible. But when he got close enough to see what was going on inside, he saw Jungkook's figure. He breathed a sigh of relief at once. Brunet was wearing black sweatpants and his black hoodie, hair in disarray, as if he had just woken up. He stood sideways to him and apparently didn't even notice him, absorbed in what he was currently doing. V leaned his hip against the door and studied him for a moment.
The younger one looked for something in the wardrobe, quickly digging through a pile of clothes, then pulled out one of his hoodies and tossed it into a sports bag, with which he used to come to training. After a while, he did the same with his favorite pair of jeans, in which his legs looked like a gate to heaven and hell at the same time. He had such a focused expression on his face that V almost had to suppress his laughter on his lips. What did the boy do in their wardrobe at six in the morning?
V took a step forward, approaching him and wrapped his arms around the narrow waist of the boy, slipping his hands under the black hoodie and hiding his face in the hollow of Jungkook's neck, while putting a soft kiss on his skin. Brunet clearly tense under his touch. His stomach muscles tensed, his heart began to beat chaotically in his chest, bumping into his ribs, and his hands froze as he searched for another piece of clothing.
- V-V... - the boy suddenly said, clearly surprised by his presence.
Somewhat awkwardly, he freed himself from his arms and looked at him. V saw that circles under his eyes were darker than usual, as if he had not slept for several days, the whites of his eyes were slightly red. Did Jungkook cry? The vampire frowned slightly and opened his mouth to say something, but before any word came out of his mouth, the younger looked away and stroked his neck with his hand, laughing nervously.
- I'm sorry, I-I didn't want to wake you up. I-I was going to finish before you get up... - he explained and licked his slightly chapped lips.
There was something strange about him. Some strange nervousness, as if he was caught red-handed. V smiled gently at him.
- Don't worry, Baby Doll. I just woke up and saw you were gone. You know I don't like sleeping without you... - he explained.
He had nightmares for many years, Jungkook's presence drowned out his demons. He never felt as calm as holding him in his arms. It was enough for him to hear his heart beat to feel safe and happy.
- What are you actually doing? Cleaning? - he asked, laughing softly. - It's not even six o'clock yet...
The boy swallowed loudly, then looked away from his inquiring look. He reached out several of his T-shirts and also began to put them in the bag. He was silent. V saw that his hands began to move more nervously and instinctively put his hand on his shoulder. Feeling his touch, the boy froze.
- Baby Doll, what are you doing? - he asked, laughing a little more nervously. Looking at him, he felt a strange anxiety. - You can't sleep and instead of training, you decided to redecorate?
The younger did not respond to his words, he just grabbed another pair of pants and a sweatshirt, and also threw them into the bag. He zipped up the bag and flipped the bag over his shoulder. He stood back to V, as if afraid to look him in the eye. The vampire frowned and took a step forward. He stood so close that Jungkook could certainly feel the warmth of his body. He heard the younger heart speed up under the influence of his closeness. He put his hands on his shoulders and turned him towards him. The boy reluctantly allowed him to do so, but he didn't look up. V watched him closely, noticed that the boy's lower lip was trembling slightly, instinctively he put his hand under his chin and turned his face in his direction.
- Baby Do...
- Don't make it harder, V - Jungkook said, interrupting him and grabbing the vampire's hand, taking it from his face, then passed him walking out of the wardrobe.
- What should I not make harder? What are you doing? What's happening? - he asked nervously, following him.
Jungkook's heart was beating harder and faster, banging against his ribs like a tethered bird. His movements were fast and nervous. He felt the lump in his throat tighten so much that he couldn't breathe. He quickly approached the bedside table where he had left his phone and grabbed it, slipping it into the back pocket of his trousers, then turned to move toward the stairs, but saw V standing behind him.
- Ah... - an uncontrollable moan escaped his lips.
- What's going on, Doll? - V repeated, forcing brunet to look at him. His voice was hard and firm, yet full of tenderness.
Jungkook had the impression that he would fall apart into a million pieces under the gaze of his blue eyes. His breath was shallow and fast. His mouth was dry and he licked his lips nervously. He didn't want to wake V, he hoped he could leave before the vampire woke up. Perhaps he should have run out right after the phone call he made in the middle of the night, but he couldn't force himself to do it.
He couldn't leave him. Not yet.
So he returned to the bedroom, undressed himself, and slipped into the vampire's arms, which almost automatically wrapped around his waist. He did not sleep. Even for a moment. He was afraid that he would miss something that he wanted to remember. So he just lay in his arms and looked at him, absorbing everything related to him. His smell, the warmth of his body, the way that the vampire's naked body seemed to fit into his own so perfectly, the way his breath matched that V's, as his heart was beating in his chest, fueled by his blood.
Sleeping V was so calm, gentle. He allowed Morpheus to embrace him, without even being aware that when he wakes up, his whole world will crush down, thanks to no one else but the person he loves the most. Jungkook could not bear this thought. He took a deep breath into his clenched lungs and for the first time that morning looked him straight in the eye.
- I'm moving out - he managed to finally say.
He didn't know what reaction he should expect, but he certainly didn't expect V to start laughing. However, he did not miss the fact that the vampire's laughter did not sound as wonderful as usual. It was full of pain.
- What do you mean you're moving out? - he repeated after him as if he didn't understand the meaning of his words. - Baby Doll, don't fool around. This is not funny... - he added, Jungkook saw some uncertainty in his voice and his gestures.
V looked like he wanted to touch him, but he was afraid that when he did, the younger would fall apart in his hands like a castle made of sand. Brunet took another deep breath and nervously ran his hands over his dark curls. After a moment he fixed his gaze again on the blue eyes of the vampire.
- I'm leaving.
It was the only word he could choke out now. He felt the awful burning sensation under his eyelids again and blinked several times quickly to keep the tears from gathering in the corners of his eyes. He couldn't cry.
Not now. Not before him.
His throat was so tight that he felt almost physical pain. He couldn't breathe.
- Jungkook... - V finally whispered, using his name instead of the affectionate nickname he loved to call him so much, as if he was afraid that he could not now call him as he always did. - Please, let's just sit down and talk calmly - he offered, raising his hands up and taking a step forward.
The vampire moved as if he was afraid to frighten the wild animal. And Jungkook thought maybe it was like that. Instead of being a hunter, he became a game, backed into the corner. And he had no escape. Although he knew well that even if he had it, he couldn't escape. He had to pull himself together and face it. Now or never. He has already gone too far to retreat.
Perhaps his life would be easier if he never crossed the threshold of Sin City that night. If he didn't look in his direction and walk over to his table. If V hadn't looked at him with those damn blue eyes, then he wouldn't have kissed him so that the ground had almost slid from under his feet. If he hadn't fallen in love with him so much that at the very thought of it everything hurt.
If he didn't get in his way, now he wouldn't have to break his heart.
- Hon... - he began, but quickly fell silent again. He licked his chapped lips and clenched his fists so much that his knuckles went white. - V - he corrected himself. - We have nothing to talk about. I haven't been doing anything else for a few days but thinking about it over and over again... I'm thinking about us... And I...
Brunet took a deep breath, then lowered his eyes, as if he could not bear the look of blue eyes that never left his face. He looked like he was trying to sort out thoughts that created more and more chaos.
He arranged everything so thoroughly in his head, in case V woke up before he left, but now it all didn't seem so obvious and simple anymore. In training, he learned to control his emotions so that his enemy would not see his nervousness, but now all the lessons seemed to be in vain. His heart was pounding in his chest, his breathing was quick and paused, he felt his body almost tremble with emotion. He felt as if he would suffocate when his lungs refused to cooperate.
- I don't want to live like that - he finally said, and at his words V lowered his hands and let out a loud breath from his lungs.
At the sight of the pain in his face, Jungkook wanted to cancel everything he had said so far, but he knew he couldn't do it. He clenched his fists harder, digging his nails into the inside of his hands and let even more cruel words roll of his lips.
- Being a hybrid, I was forced to hide all the time and when we started to date... I thought... I thought it would eventually set me free, but it turns out that I changed one prison for another. When I go out alone, I still look over my shoulder. We can't even go on a date, and I... I want to go on dates. I want...
Jungkook spoke quickly, wanting to say everything he had set up before his courage had gone somewhere, but he did not expect it to be so difficult. He felt every word in his throat tighten more and more. He almost felt physical pain every time another cruel word rolled off his lips. He paused for a moment, then took a deep breath again.
- I want a normal life. I want to be with someone who will not imprison me in four walls, who will not watch me at every step... I want to be with someone whom I will be able to love without fearing for my own life.
When he finished, he let out a loud breath.
- Jungkook... - V whispered. He looked shattered and so damn hurt that the brunet could not bear his gaze. - I know... I know that what is happening is difficult and that I demand a lot from you... But... - He stopped for a moment, as if he wanted to find words that would convince him, but he knew that at the moment he can only rely on the truth, so he said what was the only truth he knew. - I love you like no one else and I know... - he said, reached out his hand and took Jungkook's without question. - And I know you love me too - he finished.
Hearing his words, Jungkook looked away. He couldn't stand his gaze, he felt that if he looked at him, he would fall apart, but he didn't take his hand away. V folded their fingers together. Their hands fit together as if they were made for each other. As if here was his place.
- I-I have to go now - he choked out and slid his hand out of this V's, but the vampire wasn't about to give up so easily. When Jungkook tried to pass him, he gripped his forearm tightly, forcing him to look at him again.
- And this night? Less than a few hours ago you said how much you love me. And I know you felt how much I love you... - saying so, he took a step forward.
He stood so close now that he felt the warmth of his body, heard the boy's heart start beating even harder. And he wasn't going to stop there. He leaned closer to him and gently moved his lips over the lips of the younger, feeling their trembling and that delicate, sweet smell of his breath.
- I love you, Baby Doll - he whispered and did the only thing that left for him to do, he left his wall before him, letting him feel the depth of his feelings, exposing his soul to him.
His feelings were like a powerful wave that flooded Jungkook, almost depriving him of breath. V let him feel his feelings more than once, but what he let him feel right now made him barely stand on his feet. The vampire loved him so much that the power of his feelings surpassed everything he knew. No man could love so infinitely. Brunet wanted to grab his lips with his and kiss him until his lungs refused to obey him, but he knew that he could not do it.
- I-I love you too, V - he replied, stroking his cheek gently.
- Then stay. If you love me, stay. We will go through all this together... - he said quietly, with slightly shaky voice. His pristine blue eyes filled with tears.
Without question, his lips stuck to those Jungkook's. Gently, as if he was afraid that the boy would move away, but he didn't do it. Their lips glided slightly. None of them deepened the kiss. They let their restless breaths blend into one. Brunet's heart was beating so loud and strong that V felt as if it was beating in him. As if they had one heart. Common.
- Stay... - he whispered in an almost pleading voice, and in response, Jungkook grabbed his neck and - pulling him tightly - kissed him like never before.
Firmly. Fondly. As if there was no tomorrow.
When he kissed him, V could feel the salty taste of his tears, and it was enough for him to know...
After a short while, Jungkook moved away sharply and looked him straight in the eye.
- Apparently, sometimes even love is not enough... - he said, allowing bitter tears to roll from his beautiful dark chocolate eyes, then grabbed his leather jacket and ran quickly down the stairs, leaving V alone in the bedroom.

V stood paralyzed. He couldn't breathe. He didn't know what had actually happened. His heart hadn't been pounding for years, but now it felt like it was falling apart into a million pieces. It is said that a broken heart hurts like nothing else but his whole body aches. Every cell of his body seemed to rush to Jungkook.
What if it always be like this? If this pain never stops?
He took a step forward, looking absently around the empty room. It was almost as if Jungkooka had never been here. His belongings were gone. The place on the right side of the bed where he always slept was also deserted. He was convinced that if he touched the sheet with his hand now, he wouldn't feel the warmth of his body anymore. Although he could smell his scent in the air.
Was it really over?
He wanted no one more than him, but he didn't know what to do. Jungkook was right. He loved him like no other, but made him a prisoner. Brunet verbalized all his greatest fears, and every word he uttered was in his heart, cut like scars of hot silver.
Ever since they started dating, he was afraid that he would not be good enough for him, that one day Jungkook would want something more. And he won't be able to give it to him.
Shouldn't he let him go if he loved him? Shouldn't he let him settle his life away from him? Wasn't trying to stop him too selfish?
Call him a fool, but he always believed that if you really love someone, you should fight for that love. He was convinced that love could overcome anything. However trivial it would sound.
And he loved Jungkook.
"I love you too, V" - he thought.
Hearing again Jungkook's words resounding in his head, he hurried toward the wardrobe. He tugged at the sheet that still wrapped around his hips and tossed it to the ground. As quickly as he could, he pulled black boxer shorts, and then one of his pants. He grabbed one of the gray sweatshirts and pulled it on top of his body, then put on his socks and shoes. He grabbed his cell phone and leather jacket and ran out of the apartment.
When he went outside, he realized that it was still raining, but fortunately the rain was not so strong. Running towards the motorcycle, he put on his leather jacket, then jumped on the saddle. He slipped the helmet over his head and started off abruptly. He drove as fast as the road conditions allowed him. Sometimes he felt the tires slip slightly on wet surfaces, but he wasn't going to slow down.
He had to find him.
If Jungkook loves him as he said. He had to meet his eyes at least once again. He couldn't just let him leave and disappear from his life, as if nothing had ever happened between them. He had been waiting for him for so many years. He always believed that if you care about someone, you can't just let him go.
And he won't let him.
He didn't want to live without him. Even if he has to sacrifice everything to be with him - he will. He would give everything to be able to at least once again grab him in his arms and kiss his delicate lips.
He clamped his hands on the grips and added the gas. He could have sworn he felt his heart pounding in his chest with nervousness, despite not beating for so many years, but now it was almost running to the only person who taught him to love again.
He couldn't let him go like that.
He was so lost in thought that he hardly knew how fast he was going. He slowed down only when he saw the familiar sign on the horizon. He stopped at the intersection and looked impatiently at the red light, tapping his fingers nervously. He was only one block away from the workshop. It was still early, so the street was almost empty. Seoul was just beginning to wake up.
The drizzle, which made everyone's day miserable, began to transform into increasingly larger, insistent drops, turning the streets into black mirrors. He could smell the moisture, and his ears caressed the sound of rain and distant traffic.
V looked up. The sky was getting more menacing, the clouds were coming from all sides, rising dangerously into black clouds, heralding an approaching storm. He could smell it in the humid air.
Once again he looked uneasily at the red light that seemed to test his patience and mercilessly stretch its reign. He tapped his fingers again and adjusted his feet.
- Come on! - he growled under his breath.
He was about to move on the red, not worrying about the rules, but luckily he saw a green light, indicating that he could continue driving. Without waiting a second, he shot ahead. After a while he was coming down to the workshop.
It was enough that he crossed the entrance gate, and to his eyes appeared Jungkook's motorcycle. The vehicle was parked at the back of the building and he could not see it in all its glory, but there was no doubt that it was a motorcycle belonging to the brunet. He stopped his black Ducati with impetus, pumping gravel into the air and almost jumped from the saddle on the run. He pulled off his helmet and, not even bothering to hang it properly, simply let it slip out of his hand, falling on the wet ground, and he run into the back of the building.
The rain was so intense that insistent drops easily wet his blond hair, which began to stick to his forehead and face. Looking around, he brushed them away with an impatient hand, scooping wet strands from his face. There was practically no one in the back. It was very early hour, the workshop was just beginning to function. In one of the hangars, he saw two mechanics in navy blue dresses, looking through some tools, but no trace of who he wanted to see so much.
Without waiting any longer, he jerked at the door that led in and ran quickly. He looked around, but he didn't see the boy anywhere. He felt his throat tighten, his body trembling. He was soaked, he felt his black pants stick tightly to his thighs, and drops of water ran down his hair.
- Jungkook! - he called and headed for the office, where Suran always sat.
He thought he heard a male voice coming from this room, but he was so nervous that he couldn't even focus on it. The words melted into one chaotic gibberish. He tugged at the door handle and briskly opened the door, running inside without asking.
- Jungkook?!
His shoulders dropped at the sight of Suran and a stranger in a suit who looked at him with surprise painted on their faces. The brunette blinked several times, stunned by such a sudden intrusion. V, seeing that Jungkook was not inside, only turned on his heel and headed towards the attic, where the raven haired boy had lived until now.
As he ran upstairs, he heard Suran apologize to the man and follow him, calling his name, but he couldn't stop. His body was acting out of his mind. His legs carried him towards Jungkook's apartment. He could smell his perfume in the air, the scent of his body. He was sure the boy was definitely here. At the back of the workshop, there was still his motorcycle, so he too had to be here.
- Jungkook! - he called again and without waiting for an answer, opened the apartment door.
The boy's apartment looked exactly as he remembered the last time he was here, but it was obvious that no one had come here for a long time. He did not smell his scent here either, which meant that wherever the boy was, he certainly did not come here. He turned abruptly and saw Suran standing in the doorway of the apartment. She looked at him anxiously, as if she were seeing some madman who had escaped from a psychiatrist. And maybe that's how it was. He was going out of his mind. He felt that if he did not find Jungkook in a moment, he would lose his mind.
He quickly took a few steps toward her, reducing the distance between them, and looked her straight in the eye. He licked his slightly chapped lips and let out a breath he wasn't even aware he was holding.
- Where is he? - he finally asked. - Please, Suran, tell me where is he? - There was desperation in his voice, but he didn't care.
He was desperate. He didn't care anymore what someone thinks about him. He always tried to be strong and calm. He did not show his weaknesses for fear that someone might use them against him, but he could not hide now how much he is afraid that he lost him forever, because Jungkook was everything to him.
- Jungkook? - she asked confused, as if surprised by the fact that he was asking her about his boyfriend. - He's not here...
- Please, Suran, don't lie to me... - V began, then stretched out his hands and put them on the shoulders of the girl.
The pupils of his eyes widened and he immediately saw the change on the brunette's face. She was looking at him now hypnotized. He didn't like to use his vampire abilities. All the more on his friends. But he had no choice. If Suran was hiding anything from him, he must have known. Whatever it may be.
- Where is Jungkook? - he repeated using his persuasion.
- He was here a while ago, but he has already gone. He came to leave the papers and his motorcycle - the girl replied, staring straight into his eyes.
- What papers? - he inquired.
What the girl said did not make sense. Why would Jungkook come here to leave the motorcycle. V was almost convinced he would find him here. The boy had no family. Suran was like a sister to him and was the only substitute of the family he had since his uncle's death. Brunet had nowhere to go. It was the only place where he could stay.
- Jungkook left me all the authorizations. He told me that you have family problems and that you both leave the city. He wasn't sure when he would come back. This man in the office is a lawyer who prepared all the documents so that I could decide about the workshop in Jungkook's absence.
- What did he say when you saw each other yesterday? He was at your place, right? With such handsome, short blond... - he continued, feeling his nerves grow.
The girl looked surprised by his question. She blinked several times and pulled her eyebrows together, then put her hair behind her ear in embarrassment.
- I didn't see Jungkook yesterday - she said confidently. - He was here today and only for a moment. From what I understood, he met with a lawyer yesterday to prepare documents.
At her words, V exhaled a heavy breath again, which he held back without realizing it. He saw the girl move her lips, saying something else to him, but he was unable to hear her words. He could only hear the hands of the clock hanging on the wall counting the time that inevitably flew through his fingers. He felt pain in his chest. The feeling of loss was so strong that he was afraid that his heart would not stand it and would fall into millions of pieces. And maybe it has already fallen apart. That's how he felt. As if he had fallen apart into a million pieces and each of them hurt. He hurt so much that he couldn't stand it.
Jungkook was lying to him. God knows how long.
He didn't meet Suran yesterday. He didn't meet Jimin either. Now suddenly everything made sense. That the boy did not sleep well. That he was so odd yesterday. He answered with fee words and he was distant. Even sex was different. It was wonderful. Each time with Jungkook was wonderful, but the way the boy touched him, as if he was trying to remember every curve of his body, how he kissed him, as if to remember his taste. Even the way he looked at him, without taking his eyes off even for a second, as if he was afraid that he would not see him in a moment...
And suddenly it hit him...
Brunet knew.
He knew that when he woke up in the morning he would leave him.
It was his way to say godbye.
He knew he would break his heart and yet he did it.
And now he stood in his apartment, searching for him and wanting nothing more than to take him into his arms again. Jungkook broke his heart, but he still loved him with every single bit.

Namjoon entered the kitchen and approached the cupboard with the coffee machine. It was early in the morning and he felt tired as if he had been working all night. Perhaps it is a matter of the fact that he went to bed late last night. In the evening they again had several cases of teenagers going wild after taking Vamptasy, and he tried to keep up with anything related to vampires. This case with Vamptasy and this strange vampire called Jin almost literally gave him sleepless nights.
He poured a few spoonfuls of ground beans into the filter, filled the tank and set up the coffee machine. Waiting for the coffee to be ready, he grabbed one of the bagels and stuffed the piece into his mouth. He leaned against the cabinet top and ran a hand through his hair, waiting impatiently for the black liquid to finally fill his cup.
After a while, with another bite of a bagel in his mouth and hot, black liquid in his favorite red mug, he headed to his office. A pile of documents and reports were waiting for him on his desk. God, how he hated paperwork. Being in the field was what he loved. Since childhood, he has dreamed of being a detective and helping others. He followed in the footsteps of his father, who devoted his whole life to working in the police.
He opened the door, pressing his shoulder against it, and went inside. It was enough for him to cross the threshold, when suddenly a slim figure of a tall man appeared in front of him showing up out of nowhere.
- Oh, fuck! - he cursed, almost jumping in surprise.
His pulse sped up, his heart pounding in his chest. He did not expect anyone's presence, so when he noticed that someone had crept into his office, he almost spilled the coffee he was holding. He quickly set the mug down on his desk and turned toward the man.
- Jesus Christ, V! You can't sneak in here like that, I almost got a heart attack! - he moaned, still chewing on the remainder of the bagel.
He swallowed hard what he had in his mouth and looked carefully at the vampire. V looked completely different than usual. Usually, when he saw him, the vampire dazzled with his beauty. And even now he was dazzling, but this time there was something in his appearance that almost gripped his heart. The boy was soaked, his blond hair was tousled, raindrops were still dripping from wet strands. His wonderful caramel skin seemed to lose its natural glow, he was more pale, his lips slightly bluish, as if he were very cold.
- H-how did you get here? - he asked surprised by his presence.
- Teleportation - V replied in a serious tone, and at his words Namjoon's eyes widened in shock.
- T-the vampires can... Can they teleport? - he choked out with difficulty, at which V laughed out loud.
- Of course not. I asked one of your subordinates to let me in here - he explained, amused. - But regret not having seen your face.
- Very funny - Namjoon said, approaching the door again, looked out into the corridor to check that nobody was around, and then closed it so that nobody would interrupt their conversation. - What brings you here? I assume it's important since you're here in person. You have never come here before...
V ran his hand through his wet hair, then licked his lips. He felt nervous. He felt an almost irrational fear of this conversation. He was afraid that Namjoon would only confirm his biggest fears.
- Yesterday, when you talked to Jungkook... D-did he tell you something about his plans? Maybe he mentioned something that he was leaving?
Namjoon pulled his perfect eyebrows together, looking at V from above the coffee mug. He swallowed hard the sip of black liquid, as if he were almost choking on his question. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, then straightened up and looked closely at V.
- V... I haven't seen Jungkook.
- Listen, I know it could be some super secret information that you shouldn't share with me, but I need to know... What did you talk to Jungkook about? - he repeated, a note of desperation in his voice. - I just need to know...
- V, I haven't really seen him. The last time I saw him it was in the workshop - he interjected.
- And what about filling out documents? You didn't need his signatures? He owns the workshop...
- No, V. We completed all the formalities at once. We agreed that it was a burglary, nothing was stolen... There was not much to explain.
V let out a loud breath, feeling a strange burning sensation under his eyelids. He blinked several times to keep tears from forming at the corners of his eyes. Uncovering Jungkook's next lie, he felt as if the ground was moving away from under his feet.
What else did the boy hide from him? Why did he lie to him?
Apparently, Namjoon noticed his embarrassment, because he immediately put the coffee mug on the desk and took a few steps towards him, raising his hands slightly upwards, as if to show him that he was coming with good intentions.
- V, are you all right? Are you terribly pale? - the policeman began, still approaching him cautiously.
V stood still for a moment, breathing heavily, as if someone was pushing against his chest, not letting him breathe. Namjoon has never seen him like this. He didn't understand what was going on. He wanted to help him somehow, but he didn't know much about vampires. He took another step forward, calling V by name, but the vampire only raised his hands in a defensive gesture, showing him not to approach him. The policeman stopped and just watched him closely.
- I-I have to get out of here - V finally choked out, then without waiting for Namjoon's reaction, he just turned on his heel and left the office.
Leaving the police station, he passed several uniformed men who looked at him in surprise, but did not even look at them. It felt like everything was spinning. Their conversations boomed in his ears, causing almost physical pain, he felt sick. He walked down the hall, leaning against the wall as if he was drunk. One of the policewomen came up to him, asking if he was all right, but he only pushed her lightly and almost ran out the main door.
It was still raining outside so he was consumed by rain, but he didn't care. He was already soaked to the bone. Only when he felt cold drops on his face did his breathing calm down a little. He turned his face to the sky, closed his eyes and let the raindrops wash his face. After a few minutes his breathing calmed down enough for him to move.
There was another place he had to check.
He got on his motorcycle and headed for the hill where he and Jungkook sat. He used to go there to be alone and organize his thoughts, and then showed this place to him. Since then, this has been their place. Their patch of heaven that no one else knew about.
The access was not long, although he had to slow down a bit, feeling that the motorcycle was not holding wet grip. The rain was relentless, the streets glistened, looking like black mirrors. When he arrived, he knew Jungkook was probably not here. He couldn't see any other vehicle parked nearby, but he still had to check it out. So he moved quickly toward the clearing, feeling the wet ground suck around his feet. He couldn't remember the last time it had rained so much. It felt as if the weather matched what he felt. His interior was filled with darkness and despair.
As expected, the clearing was empty. Although he did not expect to find Jungkook here, he felt another strong pressure in his heart at the sight. He approached the cliff and looked down at Seoul, absorbed in the rain.
It was over.
There was no other place to look for him. Jungkook is gone. He left him, as he had feared. Somewhere in the back of the head, he knew that this moment would come. He deserved more. Much more than he could give him, but he deluded himself that his love would be enough. It was the hardest of all this. To lose him, although all he tried to do was show him how much he loved him.
"Apparently sometimes even love is not enough."
Perhaps Jungkook was right. Perhaps the fact that they love each other is not enough to be together. Perhaps he should let him go the way he wanted. Perhaps the love he offered him was not enough to keep him.
He approached the cliff and stood on the very edge. He stood there for a moment, staring at the city bathed in rain.
Maybe he should throw himself ahead and let the black abyss devour him? Perhaps he should end it here and now?
He did not know why, but suddenly this thought seemed extremely tempting to him. He thought a lot about what would happen if the younger got sick or just died of old age, leaving him alone. He had a well-planned plan for this eventuality, but he did not foresee Jungkook leaving him.
Shouldn't he let him go if he loved him? Should he not desire his happiness, even if it meant that they would not be together?
He took another step forward and accidentally hit a pile of stones with his leg, several of which rolled down the precipice. V looked surprised at the strange tower. He was convinced that it had not been here before. Intrigued, he took a few steps back and crouched down to get a better look at it.
It certainly wasn't something that nature would create. Someone had to arrange these stones specially.
But what for?
He reached out and grabbed one of the stones, then tossed it aside. Instinctively, he grabbed another and another, feeling a sudden surge of adrenaline.
Suddenly a small card appeared in his eyes. V grabbed it quickly, then began to develop it with trembling hands. One look was enough to recognize Jungkook's handwriting. He took a deep breath and instinctively covered his mouth with his hand, then began to read.
"Honey,
I don't even know if I can still call you that...
I probably shouldn't have after I broke your heart, though I swear it was the last thing I was going to do. I couldn't stand the look of your eyes knowing that I had hurt you so much. Now I can only hope that you may forgive me someday.
Perhaps someday you'll understand...
You don't even know how strange it is to be here without you now.
This was our place.
And now I'm sitting here alone, knowing that when I get home I have to say goodbye to you. It's probably the hardest thing I've ever done and I may regret it for the rest of my life...
Apparently, if someone is destined for somebody, despite the fact that life gets complicated, they will eventually find each other. Do you believe in it? You once told me that you believe that we are meant to be together, that I am in your DNA, that we are like two pieces of the same puzzle.
I really want to believe it.
I want to believe that we will find each other again. I hope that one day I will walk down the street and meet the most handsome man I have ever seen, and he will look at me with his immaculate blue eyes in which I could drown and smile at me with the greatest of his smiles and my heart will beat again so strong just like when you first told me how much you love me...
And I believe that then you will hold my hand, intertwine our hands together and you will never let me go again...
I love you,
Always. "
V stared at this torn piece of paper as if it were his most precious treasure. He didn't understand much of it all. He didn't know why Jungkook decided to leave, but this letter... These few words gave him the hope that maybe someday they would find each other again.
He rolled up the note and put it in his pocket. He looked around again, but found nothing more. Resigned, he returned to the place where he parked and got on his motorcycle.
He was sure of one. As a hybrid and hunter, Jungkook mastered one thing to perfection - escape. If he doesn't want V to find him.
He won't find him.
He got on the motorcycle and started forward. He did not know what to do and where to go.
He just wanted to forget.
He stopped at a gas station and slid off his seat. He ran to the entrance and went inside. It was a small store. At that hour it was completely empty, only a young man stood behind the cash register. V didn't even look at him. He headed straight for the alcohol department. He must have had something to drink. Numb everything he felt. He had to forget. At least for a short while...
He grabbed the bottle with the transparent drink and looked at it for a moment, then simply unscrewed the cap and put it to his mouth, taking a few large sips. Strong alcohol burned his throat, but he forced himself to take a few more sips. He could feel burning under his eyelids and salty tears rolling down his cheeks.
- Hey! You! What are you doing?! You can't just drink alcohol in the store! - a voice called suddenly behind him.
V turned away, disregarding his words and took a few more sips. Suddenly, however, he felt someone's hand on his shoulder.
- Hey! Pay for it and get out or I'll call the cops! - the man threatened.
V turned to him sharply. He felt he was on the verge of self-control. His fangs pressed against his gums. He took a step forward and quickly grabbed the stranger by the throat, gripping him strongly, clenching his hand like a vise.
- My whole life has just fallen apart like a house of cards, if you value your own at least a little, shut up and hand me two more bottles of vodka - he growled, pressing firmly on the man's throat.
The man nodded that he understood, so V released his grip. The guy handed him two more bottles, and the vampire threw a few thick bills on the counter, grabbed the bottles of alcohol and left the shop, slamming the door. He leaned his back against the wall, then slumped to the ground, sipping his own tears.

Ayashee:
How's your impression?
I admit that this chapter was a big challenge for me.
I wanted it to be very emotional and I hope I succeeded, at least to a small extent.
I got used to these characters strongly and describing such scenes my heart hurts and tears come to my eyes.
What do you think lies behind Jungkook's decision?
Did he tell V the truth?
What will V do now?
What will happen to Jungkook?
Thank you for all the stars and comments! ❤️
