Chapter 6

Faith?" Ann, her long lost mother spoke. "Is that really you!? She said as she ran downstairs.

Faiths mind could hardly process what was happening. She knew that she must of gone mad. Right now she pictured herself in a white padded room. She was probably locked away, strapped in a straight jacket making up versions of reality where she could be with her mother. She had one hell of a elaborate mind to make up all of this nonsense. It wasn't until her now teary eyed mother pulled her into a hug that she began to process that this were true. She were here. "Mom?" faith cried into her Ann's sholder. "I know honey," Ann said, rubbing her daughters back soothingly. Faith brought her arms up and rapped them around her mother tightly breathing her in. She had hopped for this moment for so long, and now it were here.

After a few moments Faith pulled away, tears overtaking her face. "We've never stopped wondering what happened to you!" Faith said. Ann's expression saddened at her words. "We" faith and her father, Ann's husband.
"I've been here." She sad sadly.
She then looked over her daughter. The small child she once held in her arms was now a woman. "When did you get so big!?" She questioned, a smile formed on her lips. "You look so much like your father." Ann said as she brushed lose strands of hair behind Faiths ears. Ann noticed the cuts on faiths face. She glanced over at Clare who motioned that she was alright.  "How is he?" Ann questioned, voice filled with pain. She missed him terribly.

Faith looked at her mother, not sure how to answer the question. How did she expect him to be? The reality was he was coping with her disappearance because he had to, but he was far from ok, they both were. "He's doing good." She answered in a attempt to cheer up her mother. "He's still teaching fencing."

Ann smiled. "Thats good."

"What happened to you?" Faith asked. She sounded much like the little girl who asked her father the same question again, and again.

"Can I just say that I am soooo out of the loop." Clare said in amazement.
Both Ann, and Faith forgot that she was even there. "I'm sorry. This is my daughter" Ann said stepping back from Faith. "You've mentioned her before," Clare said, looking at Faith. "Now it makes sense way she's here." She said to herself.

"Do you remember that night?" Ann asked. "The party?"

Faith couldn't help but laugh. Did she remember Beth's birthday party? The place where her mother went missing? The party that ruined her childhood, not to mention her life?  "Yes." She said.

"I stepped outside to make a call." Ann said. "A young man was on the porch. I didn't think anything of it because he was a child. Fifteen Mabye. But then I got the most horrible feeling, I can't begin to explain it." She said truthfully, reliving the moment as if it were yesterday. Faith understood that feeling completely. The blue eyed man had given her the same feeling. "Alex?" Faith asked turning her head towards Clare in realization. She nodded. Yes.

"His eyes glowed, and blue orbs surrounded me. The next thing I knew I was in the middle of the woods." She finished.

Faiths head hurt, all of today's events starting to take its toll. She still didn't understand anything, or how any of this was even possible. She stumbled forward before Ann cought her arm. "You need to sit darning." She said as she led her daughter to a near by wooden chair. Clare pulled up two more, and they all took a seat.
"Mom, what's going on? Why am I here? Why are you here? I don't understand."

"I'm so sorry darling. It wasn't supposed to be this way. You were supposed to find out about all of this gradually as you got older. This is all to much to discover at once." Ann spoke. Faith nodded for her to explain. "Your father doesn't know what we are. It's not his fault, I should've told him. I could've prepared him, I just thought I had more time."

"Mom, what are you taking about? What are we?" Faith asked, but already knew deep down where this conversation was headed.

"I'm a witch Faith. So is Clare. This is something that is passed down through the generations, but only in girls." Ann spoke softy, placing a hand on faiths. "You are one to, I'm sure by now something most have happened that you couldn't explain?" Ann asked.

"Something small of course." Clare added. "Mabye you brushed by someone, and saw a part of there life? Or touched a flower and it bloomed instantly. Witches in there core are very In touch with nature, and other people."

"Beth was in trouble." Faith said, leaving out the part about it being a drug deal. She didn't want to worry her mother. "I went to help her, and something very strange happened."

"What?" Her mother asked.

"The situation kind of backfired, and I was defenseless.. There was this pipe on the ground, I couldn't reach it, but then it was just in my hand. I don't know how it got there." Faith said, her hands trembling.

"That isn't possible." Clare said. "Your first magical experience couldn't have been on that high of a level?"

"It's rare." Ann responded to Clare. "it usually takes some practice to master willing objects, but obviously it was a highly successful situation, and of course my daughter is a natural." Ann finished with a smile.

"So, I'm a witch?" Faith asked through tears.

"Yes," both ann, and clare said in unison.

"If we have magic, why can't we get home?" Faith asked. Ann took a breath. All she wanted was to be home with her husband and daughter. "It's not that simple. Magic is not something that should be used at that multitude. It takes dark magic for that kind of spell."

"Dark magic?" Faith asked.

"We use magic from the earth. Its harmless. dark magic however comes from sacrifices,, human sacrifices." Clare answered. "Hence the word 'dark'."

"If you dabble in dark magic it will turn you horribly evil.. no matter how good your intentions are. I've seen it Faith, it's not a opinion." Ann said fearmly.

Faith could only imagine how tempting it must of been for her mother not to resort to it. If the situation was reversed, faith wasn't sure if she would be so strong.

"How did the hunter do it, alex? If he has magic doesn't that make him a witch to?" Faith asked in cunfusion. "Why did he send us here?"

Ann, and Clare shared a look. This wasn't a easy thing to explain. "Hunters have powers, but they do not draw it from the elements like we do. It comes from within them, passed down from father to son." Clare answered.

"They are a Abomination." Ann said matter of facty, Distaste filled her voice. "No one knows exactly when, but somewhere down the line a witch had a son. He came into his powers early at only fourteen."

"But you said witches only have daughters, and when they do have son's they possess no powers?" Faith said, turning to clare.

"Exactly" Clare answered. "The entire witch coven basically flipped out. He was a freak of nature."

A glitch in the matrix, Faith thought.

"They banished him, and sent him his own way. They were terrified of him, But that only backfired. On his own he leaned how to control his magic, and do endless amounts of spells. He was such a powerful warlock that he began to create his own spells without the help of a coven, or charm which is unheard of. Eventually when he blended with Society he married. He would experiment on his unborn children, bending his DNA to only bare boys. He wanted to get back at the witches for abandoning him, and boy did he." Clare said, fascinated herself by the story.

"He made his children his own type of being, what we call now as hunters. It is genetically imprinted on them to hunt witches. They are naturally stronger, faster, and more agile then your average black belt world champion. Unlike there warlock ancestor, they do not possess the ability to have magic themselfs, but Our powers do not have any affects on them. that is what makes it hard to protect ourselfs against them"

Faith shifted in her seat. "But isn't sending people back in time a power? Alex's eyes glowed. He had powers, I saw them?"

"Alex.." Clare started, but trailed off. Sadness over coming her once again.  "Somehow Alex is different."
