Chapter 6
The next day, I spent my time enjoying the new luxuries that life had to offer; walking around in the healthy grass, climbing trees and spying on squirrels, and realizing that the world was suddenly bigger and that more light shone in the darkest corners. I was running in the fields of vibrant green when I ran smack into Lukas, who had walked out from behind a tree.
I did have something to tell him, so this was perfect timing. The only thing that wasn't perfect was that I was completely out of breath once I saw him.
"Lukas!" I exclaimed. "Hrana is so full of.. of life! Lukas, we could... the world!" I was having trouble putting my sentences together right, I was so deep into my daydreamed thoughts. I tried again. "Lukas, we can rebuild the world together. Plant by plant, animal by animal, reformed human by reformed human. It's our purpose now."
He watched me with a look I'd never seen before. It was kind of a confused wonder and amazement, and I was feeling exactly the same. There was nothing more breathtaking than realizing that I, just a measly human who had taken part in the destruction of the world along with her brothers and sisters, could take back almost everything my entire family had ever done to this planet, and make it all new and pure again. It was a beautiful feeling.
I could tell that Lukas had felt it too by the way his smile seemed to make the world even brighter with his happiness. So I shone with him, just us two ready to repair the world; one gift of kindness at a time. Kindness to the people who live with us, kindness to the animals who live around us, and kindness to the Earth who lets us live. The earth has gone through so much for our survival, it's time we did something to keep it alive. After the long road of suffering, there could finally be relief. As the saying goes, " No matter the length of the tunnel, there will always be light at the end."
