Leo
Leo didn't want to eat three pies. It just happened. It was like when he was possessed, he couldn't control himself. It wasn't the Eidolons, it was Annabeth and Percy. They decided to send him a blueberry pie, mostly as a "Congrats, you're alive" kinda thing. The Hunters decided to stay at Camp for a while considering the death of many of their "kin." Two stray girls were found wandering around near of the camp's location after the 'war.' They were lost and confused, but luckily Thalia found them and took them into camp, finding out that they were demigods. Thalia took interest in the taller girl whose name she claimed, was Andromeda, later called Ana. She was confused at the thought of Greek gods, but soon caught on. She didn't know who she was, considering her parentage, because her friend was all she cared for as family. The other, shorter demigod, insisted that she just happened to end up at that camp with Ana somehow and is named Gabriela, but wouldn't answer unless she was called Gabby. Ana was isolated from most people because she was skeptical to the mythology life. Gabby, however, was loved by many demigods, and found out fairly quickly that she was a daughter of Apollo. She, being bubbly and spritely, was greatly welcomed into the life of a demigod at Camp. They both heard his story about his death and saving the world, and decided to also make him pies as well. Ana made him apple and Gabby made him cherry; he ate at least half of each pie plus most of the blueberry. He had no idea how he could eat so much.
As Leo shoved in another piece of the blueberry pie in his mouth, he thought back to the absence of Calypso. She was missing now for weeks and so was his heart. Gods, when did he suddenly become so pessimistic, he thought to himself. The gods didn't even show any effort in finding her, just because of an old grudge they had against Calypso because of her father. She wasn't on Ogygia or Leo would have found her ages ago. It was almost as if she was taken off the face of the Earth. All the efforts Leo had tried to pull off in search of her remained futile. So, this is what it was like when Annabeth was searching for her beloved Seaweed Brain. How depressing.
"Leo... where did you leave the rest of the blueberry pie?" asked Piper as she walked into Bunker Nine with a skeptical expression written on her face.
"What pie? I mean, yeah, we got pie, but I used a machine that did magic tricks. See, it's gone! Oh, and there's apple and cherry pie left," Leo exclaimed, trying anything to not show the evidence of blue juice plastered on his face. Piper sighed in annoyance, but smiled at him.
"We're going to play capture the flag, are you gonna join?" asked Piper.
"Ah, Pipes, don't you think I'm too good for that game? I mean, I would win within seconds because of how hot I am," Leo replied, lighting his arms on fire, trying to smile. Piper shook her head and slammed the door behind her, leaving Leo alone once again, with his thoughts. Truth was, he was too concerned of Calypso and he was too busy to do anything that would otherwise be fun. He literally had all of the latest odd occurrences that might've been an inference as to Calypso's whereabouts. Leo felt so close, yet so far. Most likely more further than closer because he didn't have any evidence of her whereabouts. The machine he found that seemed to be connected to Calypso's crystal still refused to ever work. A knock sounded from the door. Leo clicked a button on his remote that sat beside him. The door opened automatically to reveal Jason in his Camp Half Blood t-shirt and jeans.
"Wanna play capture the flag?" Jason asked, clearly not informed by Piper that he was too good for that kind of game. Leo considered that for a moment. Well, most likely, Calypso wouldn't just appear in a poof and say "Sorry, honey, went to do some shopping in Greece. I got you your Greek oil!" Not only that, but he didn't want to be so engulfed in his research that he would just become insane and start eating pies till the end of his days.
"Alright Sparky, but first, I gotta bring some toys with me," Leo replied with a sly grin.
...
"Because of all the events occurring recently, we have not been able to have a game of capture the flag, our little tradition, for the newcomers," Chiron announced, glancing at Gabby and Ana as he said it. "And of course, the Hunters are welcome to join." A few yelps were heard from the crowd, probably from the Hunters.
"All magical tools, abilities, or anything else I haven't mentioned are allowed. Now, play fairly!" added Chiron.
"Yeah, whatever, I got fifty years left of this anyway," Mr. D muttered. Leo did a quick check that all his tools were in order and marched off to meet with the rest of the demigods, who were all crowded together by the woods. There were less than it was before the whole war-Gaea-camp rival thing and that made everyone's spirits lower. Ana and Gabby each took up a bow, and Ana also grabbed a Celestial Bronze knife from the "shed of weapons" as Leo and the Stolls liked to call it. Leo took out a hammer from his belt and smiled as he approached.
"Okay, I think we should have a surprise attack awaited here," Jason explained, drawing in the dirt with a stick.
"What have I missed Professor Grace?" Leo asked. Jason looked up from his roughly done map.
"We're gonna hold a surprise attack at our end of the woods and once we have attacked, the offense group will separate and try to get to the flag," Jason finished confidently. Simple, just the way Leo liked it or possibly, he would've just losed focus within ten seconds due to his ADHD.
"Should I be part of the offensive group?" Leo asked.
"Sure, man," Jason replied. Sweet, Leo thought. Leo rushed into position, slightly out of breath, thanks to his scrawny shape, he doesn't have the metabolism to run very fast. As he stood in position, he noticed a spark of light illuminating past the branches, but dismissed it for a figment. Suddenly, somewhere in the distance, a conch horn was blown. All Hades broke loose from there. Apparently, the Hunters had anticipated their attack and rushed passed them. No way were they gonna get passed Leo Valdez, the great demigod who had saved the world, while ending his own life...sorta. In three seconds, Leo formulated a plan crazy enough to work. Leo shoved his hammer back into his belt, turned towards the demigod's flag, and pulled out a long piece of rope with a hook attached on the other end. He lassoed the hook, miraculously onto a branch and swung himself forward like Tarzan. Finally, when he reached over towards where the Hunters were, he let go and ran to keep in pace with them. He raced, trying to get ahead of them, but was still low on that metabolism to sprint past any of them. Gods, they were fast!
He noticed Ana looking longingly at the Hunters, and he beckoned her to join him in the chase. She understood, and she caught up to him in a flash, her dark brown hair flowing behind her. She ran with Leo and she was running as fast as the Hunters. While Gabby was looking as if she was about to collapse right then and there far behind them. Ana was looking back at Leo, and he got an idea. Her skills of archery were still unknown to him, so he signaled her to shoot at the branch that the Hunters were about to run past. Without hesitation, she strung her arrow and shot at the large branch. With perfect aim, she sliced through the branch and cut the Hunters in their path. They looked behind them, puzzled, and Leo looked at Ana in awe and she just brushed her hair out of her face and ran towards Gabby to help her. Out of breath, Gabby half jogged, half trudged towards Ana while she ran with ease to her friend.
"Nice...aim," Gabby breathed out.
"Thanks, but the flag is that way," she said without losing focus to the game at hand. Gabby sighed and Leo followed the girls towards the Hunters' flag. Leo could tell she was competitive, but she had a beauty to it. She was different from the other demigods, but got along with them anyhow. She still had trouble with making friends, so Leo had helped her out in the way he thought he should. Gabby was completely different in the way that she was always happy and cheerful, she became loved almost instantly. His help wasn't needed to find her friends considering she already was friends with most of the camp. It was funny how they were like sisters, going through life together, which Leo learned through their stories. Gabby's parentage was obvious, even before she was claimed. Daughter of Apollo, easy. She could make up a song or poem in three seconds flat while shooting an arrow into the bullseye of a target. Ana, however, was hard to figure out because she was shy, funny when you got to know her, was an amazing archer, and had a very smart mind. She was mysterious too, and some Ares guys thought she was a daughter of Aphrodite, but she wasn't spending every ounce of her time flipping through beauty magazines like Drew. She didn't seem to have Charmspeak either like Piper, so it was unlikely she was Aphrodite's daughter.
When they finally got to the Hunters' silver flag, symbolizing the moon, something happened that Leo was not prepared for. A little blue hologram image appeared when Leo touched the flag. It was easy to recognize who was floating on the table, and Leo's heart skipped a beat and seemed to stop. He gasped and let go of the flag instantly. He fell backwards when the hologram started to speak.
"Leo, I know you can hear me. I'm lost, and scared," said the familiar silky voice. "Leo, I don't have much time. I need your help! I am a place you are very familiar with, a place of heat like your fire and familiarity like the back of your hand. Please hurry!" Calypso screamed as the hologram disappeared. Ana looked shocked and confused trying to help Leo off the ground. Gabby was dumbfounded, she looked at Leo and then came to her senses and tried to help him up. Leo felt as if he was about to cry, Calypso was not only missing, but was in trouble. Despite his efforts to play the hologram again from what he realized was a miniscule device that sat by the flag, all he got in return was disappointment. Ana rubbed his back in pity, knowing who the girl was because of her close friendship to Leo. Gabby also tried to help cheer him up, and Ana explained about who Calypso was and of her long absence. Leo stole a glance back at the place the hologram was that had just shown him a glimpse of his beloved Calypso, scared and helpless, the opposite of how strong she was on Ogygia.
...
Hazel found them all huddled up in a pity circle, she called out for Frank and Piper to help out. Piper helped calm him down, and Frank took the flag back to their base, flying away with it as an eagle. Leo, now fully focused at his original goal, asked everyone to leave him alone so he could think and plan what he would do next.
