The Betrayal

It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills.
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.

Dark Thoughts

Two girls was sleeping few weeks before in a small tent near the the southern slops of the Red Mountains

They both appeared asleep.
But only the one was actually sleeping this hour so late in the night.

One of them was red haired with green eyes and the other brunette with smooth chocolate skin.

The brunette was probably from the southern cities of Vaishali near the desert very far from there.

It was mystery how she ended up there.

She was dressed wormly like her companion with white downy coats perfectly made for the harsh northern winter.

Her small boots made from snow foxes fur was left aside near the entrance of the small awning.

Her friend with the deep auburn hair from the other hand had white complexion like milk.

She looked like as if she was from the tribes of the Northern Ocean.

There the winters were long and the nights even longer lasting even for months at times.

But she was also very far from her homeland and it was mystery what fate led them here now at the end of this winter.

Suddenly the ginger girl oppened her large eyes and listened for a while.

She turned her head towards her friend who layed still in the mattress next to her.

She was sleeping lightly.

Then she lift herself up ,slowly to avoid making any noise that could awake her.

Earlene cold green eyes was looking directly towards her sleeping friend now.
There was something strange about them this night.

She  approached her barefooted and silently.

The young woman carefully placed her feet between the foxes furs that covered the earth beneath them.

The black knife in her hand was shining from the deem moonlight.

The light was coming from a small opening in the top of the tent.

Something dark was in her mind.

Something that she was planning for days.

She was ready to do it.

The woman had already placed the knife near her unwary friend neck.

She was looking so innocent ...

Earlene felt that she could listen her heart beating more alive than ever this moments ...

"I am sorry ... " she whispered but she couldn't finish with her name.

Then darkness.

The sudden scream of Diya voice choking from her own blood and Earlene red hands holding the shinning knife was the last image that she remembered.

She couldn't look at her as Diya  held her bleeding neck and whispered for help with her name.

She woke up shivering from sweat and agony.

Earlene started sobbing hiding her pretty face with her pale white hands.

The salty tears was rolling down her cheeks and fell in the soft animal furs where she was sleeping.

She never wanted to become a murderer.

No-one who looked at her stunning emerald eyes could guess that she was capable of such a terrible thing.

Something made her to do it again but she believed that she had done everything to avoid it.

But she became a monster, a devil, and not for the first time.

She lived this scenes again and again in her mind ever since.

They were living together for three years  during the long summer in the southern Terai Valleys.

The girls worked together in their rich  lords houses until this fateful night when she convinced her to start a quest that was about to change their lives for ever.

Earlene always wanted to search for the ancient artifact that her parents died for ,ten years before , in order to protect it ...

It was her life purpose and her one and only obsession.

She stole some expensive jewels from her rich lady to find money for this adventure but the things went wrong ...

Someone saw her.

She was forced , as she believed, to poison her lord twelve years old daughter who was unlucky enough to see her hid the jewels in hidden place under the wooden floor.

Earlene was her handmaid and didn't hate the girl.

But she didn't want anything to stop her and she was determined to do whatever she needed to achieved her goal.

So she did it.

After that terrible crime she convincing the one of the girls to join her in this dangerous journey to the north.

The girls  always trusted one another but she didn't tell her what she just did to find the money for their journey.

However Diya and her didn't know each other at all , as they believed.

They both had their own dark secrets and soon the evil came crawling in their lifes like a serpent in the night and bit them one after the other ...
