the fire
Weeks had passed and nothing had seemed to get better. She hadn't even looked at me, not once did she acknowledge me. I wanted to introduce myself, just to speak to her, shake her hand, anything would be good. But nothing, she didn't know I existed.
However, she did know my older cousin existed. He was, of course, a volunteer coach here but he interacted with Sakura often. Too often for my own comfort, especially knowing his history. That made my heart sting, it felt like someone was tugging through the different veins to get at it.
I recently heard she was flirting with Rock Lee, and as well as he treated her, she is leagues ahead of him. She deserves a powerful man, not like Rock Lee or Obito, especially not Obito. But if it kept her away from my cousin, then that's good enough for now.
It was then when the bell rang for my fourth period class, it was gym and we were splitting in groups. They usually have it so girls and guys are separated, but with our new gym 'teacher' he said that it was unfair, so now I see Sakura three out of the four classes I have.
When we were grouping up I noticed that she was alone, so I walked over to her to ask if she wanted to be partners, she looked at me. She had looked at me, I didn't show that it made me happy, but it did.
Sakura smiled, "I'd love to."
I wanted this moment to last forever, I had felt something so warm for once I didn't know what to say. I saw her color, it was gorgeous. She's the one to save me, I just know she is.
And then I heard Naruto stomping over, "Hey! Sasuke! You're supposed to be my partner, Hinata isn't here ya jerk!"
"Go away."
"Hey now, there's no need to be so mean to me, I just miss my best friend," Naruto whined.
Sakura looked at the ground sheepishly, not really knowing what to say or how to react. I noticed and was about to say something before Obito came by with a smile, "Sorry guys! We can't have a group of three. Sakura, you can work with me for now, let's go."
Sakura nodded, and began to follow after. I turned to look at Naruto with a glare that could scare the principal, "You fucking idiot, why would you do that?"
Naruto was confused, "Do what? I was just trying to hangout with you."
I sighed, "Whatever I guess.."
I layed out my own yoga mat and started doing my stretches while listening to Naruto ramble about the different types of food he wanted to eat when Hinata and him go on their next date. I was doing a plank, and we were seeing who could go on longer. He went on and on for about thirty minutes before I looked to the side, and there she was.
I didn't like what else I saw. She looked uncomfortable, and Obito had that stupid sheepish look on his face. I couldn't do anything now, I'd get in trouble with my father for attacking someone in the family. But when his hands were on her lower back, holding her hips into place it felt as though my heart was getting chopped into little pieces.
I wanted to slam his face into a wall.
Another few minutes passed as I watched him, and Naruto finally noticed, "Do you like her or something?"
I lost my grip on the mat and my arms slipped down, I looked up towards him with a bored look, "Her? We both know she isn't my type, Naruto. Why ask dumb questions?"
"I dunno, she looks nice.. And after your last erm, breakup, I think you've grown enough to be in a healthy relationship. I'm really proud of you for getting better.. Especially after.."
I shot up, and walked to the locker room. I heard Naruto groan followed by an almost inaudible, "maybe he hasn't gotten over her," and a sigh. When I got into the locker room I punched the stupid door to my locker, and now it was jammed and I couldn't open it. My phone was in there.
The others came in, and were getting ready for it to be the end of the day. I realized that if I waited too long I wouldn't be able to get my phone and father would be furious. Hurriedly I exited the locker room, and headed to the assistant P.E. teachers office. I was about to knock, but I heard voices from the inside.
"O-Obito, this isn't appropriate. You're my teacher," a soft voice said. I couldn't make out too much of it, only picking up a few words.
It didn't help that when he finally started talking back, the bell rang. Students came rushing out of the classrooms so I couldn't hear anything. I chose to hide in the bathroom until the crowd died down.
I stood by the sink, the water running through my fingers as I stared down. I heard a voice speaking but I couldn't recognize their voice or language. I couldn't pull my eyes away. The water was hypnotizing and it had me in it's trance. I stared down until I felt like the earth beneath me crumbled, it felt like an earthquake only affecting the ground under my feet.
I crumbled down, my arms flung out to catch something and there she was. She grabbed my arm and stared back at me. Our eyes were locked and it felt like an eternity. I watched her lips part to start speaking.
"Can I get a kiss?"
That's when everything seemed to go in reverse, and there I was. Standing in front of the sink again. My hands now red from the hot water pouring down on them. I looked up and it was just me there. I turned off the sink, god who would actually love me enough to save me?
"Nobody, nobody wants me," I whispered.
The loud humming of the air dryers was distracting enough to get me out of my thoughts and I looked at my watch, it had been thirty minutes already. I rush out of the bathroom, back to Obitio's office. I run into Sakura on my way though, almost crashing into her. She looked up at me confused, but she had tears in my eyes.
"Why are you still in your gym uniform?" She asked, her voice sounded frail.
"Why are you crying?" I ask in return.
She didn't like that. Her frown turned from something that was sad, into something that was annoyed, "That isn't your business."
"Okay okay, but uh.. Can I have your number? Or uh, can I give you mine? I don't have my phone right now." I awkwardly say, she looked kind of hurt by this. I didn't understand why.
"Yeah.. sure, what was your name again?" That hurt, but it was my own fault. I never introduced myself.
"Sasuke, Sasuke Uchiha," I say as she hands me her phone, her fingers were so small and thin. I put my number in hers. I never noticed how much taller I was, I had to look down to see her.
"Well Sasuke, I hope you have a nice night," and with that she walked away from me, and I walked forward. Too embarrassed to look back, but it wasn't like she would look back for me.
I knocked on Obito's door, he said a quick come in and when I opened the door I frowned.
It smelt like fuck.
"My uh, locker got jammed. I need help getting it opened sir."
"Now Sasuke, you know we're family. You can talk to me normally," he said in a happy, but passive aggressive tone, "why don't we go get that so you can hurry home. It's almost five, your mother must be worried sick."
I frowned but nodded, "Yeah, you're right."
As he stood up, I noticed him put something red in a drawer, but didn't think much of it. We exited the room, and that was it for the day.
If only I had been there earlier, I would've known that he hurt you and kept a trophy.
