A scream escapes my throat as the bullet runs through my head and I collapse on the ground, Unmoving. I jump up from the bed drenched in sweat. Ruby's head pops up from her pillow across the room. "What's wrong Flame?" She asks me. "Just a nightmare. I'm ok." I reply. I jump out of bed in shorts and an old T-Shirt and sit beside her. "I miss mom and dad." she whispers. "I do too." I say quietly. Today is the reaping so put a pot of water on the stove for a warm bath for Ruby and take mine cold. After I finish I put my hair up with a pale blue ribbon and slip a blue dress over my body. I dump the water from the pot into the tub and tell Ruby the bath water is ready. In 10 short minutes were both walking to the reaping. I stand in a group of 14 Year olds and look at the stage. The mayor says our dull speech but I'm not listening. In no time at all Effie Trinket is pulling a name from the girl's glass orb. 'Our girl tribute is....' She yells Happily. "Flame Simmons!"
