Chapter Two

"Lost Eden," said Guiltia.

Angelique's jaw dropped. LOST EDEN!?!!?! THAT'S SAGA-SAMA, MIST-SAMA, JACK-KUN AND BETH-SAMA IN THE FLESH AND THEY'RE SO NEAR US!!! Her mind screamed.

"Hi, newbie! Welcome to Visual Prison!" Jack cried out. Eh?

"All the newbies have been trash lately, so we welcome you with open arms," Elizabeth declared.  Newbie, who?

"Hey, it's the weird guy from earlier and the girl with her." Jack pointed out.

"That boy's eyes...And..." Elizabeth stopped.

"What are you plotting, Guiltia?! Saga will obtain a great amount of power at the next Visual Prison! If you dare get in the way," Mist pulled out his sword like mic and pointed it at Guil, "Let's just say I'll get rid of you before Saga has to lay a finger." Umm...am I the only one confused? Is this some sort of musical rivalry?

No words would come out of her mouth. After all, her favourite Lost Eden was in front of them. Noticing that, Ange gave her hand that was holding his a squeeze and faced the quartet. "What the heck are you guys?"

"What are we?" Mist repeated.

"You'll need to be a little more specific," Guiltia answered in their stead.

"This is my first time seeing one myself," Elizabeth kept his gaze at Ange. "I can feel the power of the Scarlet Moon in your left eye. But your other eye is... human." A realisation suddenly struck the singer. "Are you actually a dhampir?"

A dhampir?

"What's that?" Jack asked Elizabeth.

"It means he's half vampire and half human."

"Huh?" Jack didn't seem to get the concept.

Angelique's mind blanked out. Half vampire...? Half human...? A... dhampir... Her brother looked as distraught as her.

Guiltia stepped in. "Your left eye and your fangs prove that you're one of us, Ange. Look up at the moon."

They both looked up at the moon. "It's red..." Ange answered.  . . . . But it's silver.

"Only vampires can see the Scarlet Moon."

"Vampires...?" Feather started falling from above.!!! Eclipse!?!!

"What a splendid day!" Dimitri announced. "In 300 years, I have never seen such a bizarre comrade like yourself. Brilliant! You have received the mark. To sing under the Scarlet Moon and the right to fight us!"

. . . Does that mean...

"You're also vampires?" Ange asked.

"That's clearly obvious," replied Hyde.

The young boy could sense his elder sister's growing confusion. "Wait, you're Eclipse, right? Like, you're world famous and super popular!"

Dimitri grinned. "What? Are you our little lamb, too? If you truly do not know, then I shall enlighten you. Vampires live in darkness under the Scarlet Moon. Our bodies are immortal, and our song has the power to change the world.

"Once a year," Hyde added, "the vampire to offer the most beautiful song to the Scarlet Moon will gain great power. We call it Visual Prison. You have gained the privilege to participate in this honoured competition."

"Visual Prison..."

"It's quite troublesome that you don't even realise that you're a vampire," Hyde commented. It all began making sense to Angelique.

Saga opened his mouth for the first time. "Who the hell cares about that twerp? This damn cage of a world...and that moon that ties us down... I'm going to destroy it all!" He glared at Guiltia. "And I'm going to kill you with my song."

On the contrary, Guiltia calmly stated, "Ange Yuki has been acknowledged by the Scarlet Moon. No one can change that fact."

"Well you heard him. What do you say, Ange?"

"Will you sing or will you not. Those are your only options."

Hearing Eclipse, Ange faced Guiltia. "Guil. Just like we did earlier...if we're able to-"

"I can't sing with you." Guiltia rejected him. "But you have a beautiful voice. Even though I lost my ability to sing, you had the power to let me dream for a moment again. This decision is yours to make, Ange."

"I'm..."

Angelique finally got the strength to speak. As soon as she opened her mouth, the spotlight of attention fell on her. "W-Wait.... what do you all mean..? What do you mean my brother is a vampire...?"

It was then when Guiltia, Lost Eden and Eclipse realised the error they had made. They had exposed her, an ignorant human, to the vampire society.

Guiltia ran his fingers through his hair and heaved a sigh. "I thought so..." He turned to the only female present there. "You didn't know Ange was a vampire, did you?"

Slowly, she shook her head. ". . Is he really a vampire?"

"He is."

"Wait..." Ange seemed to have caught up. "Angelique isn't a vampire?"

"No," Hyde replied. "Those eyes are that of a human's. There isn't a trace of a vampire's energy." He narrowed his eyes. "We seemed to have made a miscalculation."

"But if I'm a vampire then why isn't she one as well?" Ange questioned. "After all, we're twins!"

"That certainly is a wonder." Dimitri nodded. "It might be because only you got the vampire blood of your parents, Ange."

Hearing that, Ange looked down. He's a vampire and his only sister is a human. What will happen now? Thinking about it so hard, Ange's head was starting to hurt. He started feeling lightheaded. A soft hand grasped his right hand again.

Ange... maybe it's because we're twins that sometimes, I can clearly tell what you're thinking about.  With a reassuring smile, Angelique told him, "It doesn't matter if you're a vampire or a human, Ange. We will always be together."

It was the last thing Ange remembered hearing. He passed out but not before squeezing her hand back. The exhaustion of the day had caught up to him.

"Ange!?!" Before Ange could fall over, Guiltia caught him.

"He has fainted because of his newly awakened powers. Eve will take care of him."

"Eve-san?"

The said man appeared in her view. Soon after Angelique had gone to the roof, he felt the presence of  the other vampires. However, the commotion above had him worried so he came to check up on the two children. And he certainly did not expect to find Ange fall unconscious.

Eve took the boy in his arms and left as quickly as he had arrived in order to not receive any more attention; but not leaving before reassuring the girl that he's alright. She would've followed them if not for the voice calling her.

"Human girl, you can't stay together with the dhampir," Jack interjected.

"Huh?" Her eyes widened.

"It's a rule that we can't let humans know about the vampire society," explained Elizabeth.

"It's certainly a troublesome situation," Hyde commented.

"Saga, what is your order?" Mist asked.

Looking uninterested, the red haired man claimed, "It's none of our business. We weren't the one who created this stupid rule."

"Right," Elizabeth turned to Dimitri and Hyde. "It's because of you two that we're in this situation."

"Hey, why don't we just erase her memories?" Jack suggested. "She'll forget all about us and her brother."

"That's the best solution," Elizabeth nodded.

!!! Hearing that, Angelique took a step back. "No.... Not that...." Her eyes were suddenly filled with fear. "I-I can't lose Ange...." she whispered. "Please don't take my memories away."

Her vision got blurry with unspilled tears. "Ange is the only family I have. He is really important to me. I. . . I won't be able to live without him."

Her gaze fell on the floor as she hung her head. Her black bangs hid her tears from everyone's view. "......There's no point in living a life without him. . . all alone."

"Angelique." Guiltia felt bad for the young girl. He knew, better than anyone, how losing one's most treasured people felt like. Moving in front of her, he shielded the helpless female from the others. "Do you truly mean that? Tell me your real feelings."

Angelique looked up at the man. Tears were rolling down her pale cheeks. "I..." Her grey orbs looked into lavender ones. She parted her quivering lips. "Guil-san, I.... I don't want to live a life without Ange. Please, don't take him away from me."

With the barest hint of a smile, Guiltia spoke, "Very well. I'll make sure your wish comes true." He was even ready to accept the punishment. "You've been through a lot today. Now, go to sleep. I'll take care of the rest."

"Bu-" When Guiltia's gorgeous lavender pupils glowed red, Angelique felt a wave of weakness hit her. ...But, Guil-san. . . Her eyelids grew heavier and her consciousness started slipping away. But before she could completely fall in slumber, a pair of arms had lifted her. Later on, all she could feel was darkness.

.  . .  . . .  .

"Mmmm...." Angelique groggily lifted her eyelids to reveal her grey orbs. She was met with the sight of an unfamiliar ceiling. Where am I...?

She lifted her body to sit up on the large couch she was sleeping in. The blanket that was nicely draped over her fell on her lap. In front of her vision, she found two familiar men by the kitchen counter.

"Eve-san...? Guil-san..?"

At her quiet voice, Eve turned to find her sitting up. "Oh, you're awake." He walked towards the girl. "I was shocked when Guil carried you here yesterday. But he must've used more of his power than necessary for you to sleep long."

From behind the kitchen counter, Guil said back, "It had been a while since I used my powers on someone."

"Powers?. . . .Oh!" The memories of last night flooded inside her head. She brought a hand to her head. That's right. Last night.... The last thing I remember is Guil-san's eyes suddenly glowing red.

"...My memories!" She snapped her head towards Eve. "I still have my memories."

"That's because your memories didn't get erased," Guiltia informed.

"...they didn't?" She repeated. ...I have my memories of Ange...

"Wait, where's Ange?" She voiced her thought.

"I sent Ange out to meet Elizabeth."

"By Elizabeth..." Angelique blinked twice, "Do you mean Lost Eden's Beth-sama?!"

"Yes." He offered cheerfully. "Now Angelique, why don't you freshen up and have breakfast?"

Eve had let her use their bathroom. The cool shower helped her clear her mind. Good thing her backpack was always with her for she had her clothes there. When she arrived by the kitchen counter for a late breakfast, she saw Guiltia leaving the floor with a book in hand.

"Um, Guil-san!" She called out to him.

"What is it?" The tall man tilted his head to look at her.

"What exactly happened last night? Why did you use your powers on me?"

A sigh left his lips. "It's none of your concern. It'll be better if you forget everything about last night." Saying only that much, he turned around to leave.

"Guil-san!" She called out to him again to stop him, for receiving more answers but it failed as he headed to his room without looking back. Meanwhile, Eve sighed at his long-time friend's actions.

He placed her food in front of her once she sat down. "It's delicious!" Angelique exclaimed after the first bite,a warm blush spreading across her face. "It has been so long since I've eaten such delicious food."

"Is it? I'm glad." Looking at the girl's reactions, he broke out into a genuine smile. "There's something that I need to tell you, Angelique."

"Yes?"

"You and Ange will be staying here for a while."

"Eh? No! I can't intrude on you anymore than I already have."

"No." He shook his head sideways. "You have already come in contact with the vampire society. And last night, you told me that you were looking for a hotel to stay in while you're in Harajuku. I can't leave two young children alone."

"But..."

"Besides, it will be better if Ange stays here as he has yet to know how to control his powers." If it's for Ange then...

"But what about Guil-san? Will he agree to it?"

"Actually, I've already talked about this with Ange and both Guil and him have agreed."

"Oh...if that's the case then okay." Eve was happy to hear her answer.

"Pannya."

"...? That sound..." Right after she finished eating, the panda looking cat Ange and she had seen yesterday was behind her. "You're the one from yesterday."

"Pannya." The cat jumped on the seat next to her.

"Its name is Pannya. It's saying 'nice to meet you.' " Eve chuckled.

"Pannya." When it found the right opportunity, it jumped on her lap and decided to take a nap on the comfortable place.

"Oh..."

"That's rare. Pannya never warms up to anyone immediately but it seems Pannya likes you."

Hearing that, she grinned. "Is that so?" She looked back at the cat on her lap and beamed. "I like Pannya too!"

"Pannya."

.  . .  . . .  .

"Ange!" Angelique exclaimed at the sight of her brother entering the house. "Welcome home."

"Angelique! You're awake." Ange quickly walked up to her. "Guil said you didn't lose your memories. Do you really remember me?"

In answer, she beamed. "Yup! I remember everything we did since we were children."

The boy sighed in relief. "Thank goodness. . . I don't know what I would've done if you forgot about me."

"I won't ever forget about you, Ange. Remember? We promised to always be together."

"Mm!"

Eve, who had been happily watching the sibling's exchanges from the side lines, clapped his hands together, gaining him their attention. "Shall we show him his room now, Angelique?"

"Sure."

While Ange was away, Angelique helped Eve clean the whole house and arrange Ange and her shared room. She found it amazing how Eve single handedly kept the whole house neat and clean.

"This is the room you two will be staying in," Eve showed Ange.

"Thanks. Um,"the brunette looked at Eve. "I'll look for a job right away."

"That red thing was super expensive, wasn't it?" Red thing?

"I was given that by someone a long time ago and it was just collecting dust. I'm just glad it helped you out."

"What're you talking about?" Angelique asked, not being able to follow their conversation.

"Ah, right, you don't know. The red thing we're talking about is the 'Scarlet tear'. It symbolises your win in Visual Prison," The taller male explained.

Later on, he asked what Ange wanted to do and began explaining what Visual Prison was when her brother inquired about it.

"Eh!?! Guil-san, Dimitri-sama, Hyde-sama and Saga-sama used to be in the same unit!?!" Their names and voices are the same so I thought it's a coincidence...!

"Yes. Sometime later, they disbanded, and Dimitri and Hyde kept the Eclipse name."

"So, that's why they have the same name..." The twins also learned more about the Scarlet Tear, Eclipse and Lost Eden from Eve.

Once it was just the two of them left in the balcony, Angelique questioned, "Hey Ange, can you really see the Scarlet Moon?"

"Yes, but it's only through my left eye," he answered.

"Mhm...." she closed her eyes and leaned against him.

"What should I do, Angelique?"

"Mm?"

"Do you want me to sing?"

"Ange, it's your decision to make." She lifted her head and looked into his eyes. "...I want you to sing. I want to hear your song again. Your songs have a mysterious power, you know? They can make you feel really warm and happy inside. It's a really pure feeling."

"Angelique..."

"But, you can't force yourself to sing. It will only end up hurting you." Her serious face disappeared. "I'll wait until you sing again."

"I..." Ange closed his eyes and took a deep breath, and then opened his eyes in a new resolve. "Angelique, I have to meet Guil now."

She nodded. I hope talking with Guil-san gives you the confidence to sing.

To be continued...
