Chapter Twenty-three
On a bright morning,
Angelique stretched her arms with a happy sigh. "It's a nice day, isn't it, Pannya?"
"Pannya..!" The cat agreed while walking next to her.
A few days had passed since the day of Visual Prison. Everything seemed to have returned to normal. From the guys, she learned that Lost Eden and Eclipse had helped Guiltia by giving away their Scarlet Tears. She felt even more gratitude towards the two groups swelling in her chest.
Guiltia had also regained his health. But one can never be too cautious. She had joined Eve to silently watch over his health. Though he hadn't experienced any pain after that, the scars that had appeared all over his body were still present. It would take time for him to heal fully.
As she was passing by a bookstore, something on the rack managed to catch her eye. She stopped in her tracks and looked at the magazine curiously. Pannya followed her suit.
Saotome Academy entrance exam.... If I'm correct, it's a school for aspiring musicians. Unable to hold her curiosity, she picked up the magazine. The school nurtures singers and composers alike for one year and helps them to debut, huh...
Pannya quietly watched the girl enter the store and come out just as swiftly.
.....In the end, I bought the magazine. I felt a strange urge to learn more about it.. Angelique entered home with Pannya at her toes.
"Ah..." Just as she entered, she found Guiltia exiting the bathroom, a towel hanging around his neck. "Good morning, Guil-san!"
"Good morning." He greeted her. "Where did you go so early?"
"Well, it's not that early for me." Vampires did tend to wake up later than humans. Guiltia was the first to awaken among the vampires.
"I went out for groceries with Pannya." She showed him the plastic bag she held in her right hand.
"I see." He noticed something different in her gestures. Looking closely, he discovered her holding a magazine behind her back.
Though it hadn't happened before which made him somewhat curious, he wasn't going to meddle in her business. A girl can have a magazine for many reasons. It might be another item of her fangirling collection.
Quietly, he made his way to the kitchen to prepare his morning coffee. Angelique, having realised his objective, gasped. Quickly putting down the magazine, she followed him.
"Wait, Guil-san, you shouldn't be moving around! You should be at rest now."
"I'm all right. This much is nothing."
She watched him expertly brew his coffee. "But, your injuries, don't they hurt?" She referred to the red cracks that were on his body.
"Not anymore." With a weak smile, he took the grocery bag out of her hands. "I might as well help you prepare breakfast."
Before she could stop him, he cut her off. "I'd prefer it if you stop treating me like a sick person."
But you ARE sick! She mentally protested. When she saw how he wouldn't budge from his decision, she sighed in defeat. "...Fine."
"Good." He sipped his coffee when she stood next to him, emptying the grocery bag. Placing his cup down, he claimed, "There's something I would like to tell everyone today."
She looked up at him when she heard his serious voice. When he saw her curious eyes, he smirked. He might as well tell her.
"I'm thinking of reopening this cafe."
. . . Reopen. . . this cafe. . She understood what he was talking about. Eyes widening, she grinned. "That's a big news!"
. . . . . . .
As he said earlier, Guiltia decided to declare his plan to the rest of the vampires that morning. Of course, they were very surprised to hear it. Nonetheless, everyone seemed excited at the idea.
However, no sooner had everyone digested the new information than he had assigned them their chores. Guiltia didn't want to delay any moment to materialise his plans so he asked everyone to start preparing right away. How very typical of him.
The first step was naming their cafe.
"How about 'Nyan Cafe'?" Robin proposed confidently. "The 'Nya' comes from Pannya, who will be our cafe's mascot."
"No." Guiltia immediately shot down the idea. If they were to name their cafe that, then they would have to opt to create a cat cafe instead of an usual cafe.
"Then..." Eve racked his brain to come up with a suitable name when it was his turn to throw an idea. "....'Cafe Brion' since it's Guil's idea to reopen the cafe."
"Rejected." The blonde didn't hesitate to shoot his idea down. He'd rather not have his name be the cafe's name. "What about you, Ange?"
"Umm...I'd be happy with anything everyone has chosen together." The boy shifted to sit more comfortably. "But if I had to pick one then....... 'Musical cafe'?"
Guiltia smiled at his adorableness. But he still shook his head. "That's somewhat of a plain name, I'm afraid."
The final one to announce her idea was Angelique. She had come upon a suitable name long ago. She scanned each of the four vampires before opening her mouth. Cafe Ikemen!
Those words were at the tip of her tongue but couldn't escape her mouth because she knew it would receive immediate disapproval.
".....Pannya and coffee." She spoke aloud the name she saw fit. Of course, it was met with Guiltia's rejection.
How in the world did Pannya even get mixed up in all these?
In the end, after a long discussion of two hours, they settled on the name 'Cafe Prism' and Guiltia was mentally exhausted.
The next thing on the to-do list was coming up with food items. While they hadn't decided on what to include in the menu, they had a vague idea. There wasn't any need for discussion to decide what their trademarked item will be; that is; Guiltia's coffee.
Now, the five of them went out in groups to buy various ingredients for their menu. The plan was to prepare lots of dishes and pick the best ones for the menu. Eve, Ange and Angelique were in one group while Guiltia and Robin were in another.
We've got eggs, flour, milk, chocolates, sugar and...... what more do we need? Angelique cross-checked the list in her hand.
"Did we get everything?" Eve settled the grocery bags in his hands. Since he was the strongest, he took the heavy bags and let Ange carry the lighter ones. The two males let Angelique do the shopping since she was the most knowledgeable in this aspect.
"I think so..." She mumbled. "Shall we meet up with others?"
"Mm." The brunette nodded. "I was thinking..." He started when they began walking. "How about we make foods from Guil's homeland, France? We can also make snacks from different countries. Won't that be so cool?"
"It's certainly a great idea but I think it'll be hard to do that in the beginning..." She smiled.
"Imagine," Eve had an amused and playful smile on face, "a handsome French gentleman serving you French toast. I'm sure it'll bring us lots of customers."
The twins giggled. Guil-san will gain a large number of fans then. "But I think just having the four of you serving in the cafe will attract customers. It's not often that a cafe has such beautiful staff."
Eve smiled, "Your treats are bound to attract many customers as well." Her cuteness might also bring a handful of male customers. But he'd rather not display their shy friend for this.
"Your cooking is great as well, Eve-san!" She smiled.
"Oh!" Ange exclaimed. He suddenly remembered something very important. With a sense of urgency, he reminded the two, "We can't let Robin in the kitchen."
On the other hand, with Guiltia and Robin,
"Achoo!" Robin sneezed all of a sudden.
"Are you cold, Robin?" The older male asked.
The former sniffed. "I don't think so. Maybe someone is talking about me."
Guiltia sighed. "What mischief did you cause this time?"
"Jeez, Guil-san. Do you really think I'm that much of a mischievous kid?"
"Yes." With a blank face, he answered solemnly.
"Ouch."
. . . . . . .
"Everyone's amazing, aren't they, Pannya?" At the call of its name, the cat looked up and gently swayed its tail, "Pannya."
"They all have their own goal and they're working towards it. That's pretty amazing." She spoke, mostly to herself than the cat.
"Everyone's moving forward.... Except me... It seems like I'm the only one without a definite goal." A sigh escaped from her lips.
Without speaking for some moments, she continued to brush the cat on her lap; who only sighed in contentment despite the girl's troubles.
Saotome Academy... She drifted off within her thoughts. If I want to become a full fledged composer, the best road for me is to pass from a prestigious academy like this one.
She sighed again, deeply this time. "What am I thinking? There's no way I can do that..." Her hands paused, making the cat look up at her.
I do want to become a composer....but I've never thought of the road to become one. At this rate, can I even-
She shook her head. "No, that won't do. I shouldn't be so negative."
"Pannya. Pannya." Sensing her distress, the cat leaned towards her more. When she held it closer, Pannya licked her cheek in an affectionate way.
Angelique giggled. "Are you trying to comfort me, Pannya? That's so sweet of you, little one."
"Pannya."
"But what do you think I should do, Pannya?" She stared at Pannya. "How can I fulfil my dream?"
"What are you talking about with Pannya?"
Before the cat could answer something that she wouldn't actually understand, Robin appeared.
"Wah, Robin!" The said male sat down next to her on the couch. When he tried to pet the cat, it growled at him. Even if Angelique didn't understand Pannya, he interrupted their conversation.
"Geez Pannya, why are you only cold towards me?" He didn't receive any reply though.
"So, what were you talking about?" He faced the raven with an easy smile.
She pondered for a second if she should tell him her internal conflicts. No, maybe he's the right person to ask for advice. He came all the way to Japan with a single goal in mind.
"Robin, can you dedicate your everything to a dream that's hard to achieve?" She tilted her head to look him in the eye.
"That's pretty sudden..." Robin placed a finger under his chin to think. "There's not much to think about actually. I think I'll do it."
"Even if the road is very tough?"
"Yeah." He smiled brightly. "I mean, we're talking about a dream that's really important to me, right? If it's that important, then I'll keep trying my best to achieve it."
Those words seemed to knock some sense in her head. Drifting her attention from his green eyes, she looked at Pannya. "That's right."
It's not about whether I can do it or not... I can't give up without even trying. She reaffirmed her feelings. I want to be a composer. It's the first dream I found. I'll have to do everything I can to make it come true!
The corner of her lips stretched upwarwards. Even if I don't succeed this time, I'll just have to keep trying. I can't give up!
She snapped her head towards Robin and grinned. "Thanks, Robin! I now know what to do."
"Uh..." Robin was confused at the sudden change of her mood. "I'm not really sure what I did but sure?"
. . . . . . .
"EH!? You're applying for a boarding school!?!" Ange, Robin and Eve burst out. It was as if they had received the world's most unexpected news that morning.
"Yes." Contrary to their shocked expressions, Angelique smiled happily. "I've thought about this really hard and thought to give it a try."
"What caused you to suddenly make this decision?" Even if Guiltia looked calm, it was true that he hadn't expected to hear her announcement.
"I want to make my dream come true. Isn't that a reason enough to take the first step?" She stole a quick and knowing glance at Robin.
Robin's eyes widened. He finally caught on; which made a proud smile appear on his face.
Guiltia smiled, satisfied with her answer. "If that's what your heart wants."
"You're going to a boarding school..." Ange mumbled. If she went there then they would have to be apart from each other. And they have literally never been apart. He's going to miss her so much.
But that won't stop him from cheering her on when she worked towards her dream. She found her dream after so long. He'll be sure to protect his sister's dream and happiness!
He smiled his most angelic smile, "I'll always support you, Angelique!"
"Me too." Eve recovered from the initial shock and smiled back. To him, it seemed like she was growing up so fast.
"You can do it!" Robin cheered. Guiltia nodded as a silent cheer.
"Everyone, thank you!" Her heart suddenly felt a lot warmer, just like the morning sun. "I'll still have to pass the entrance exams which are said to be really tough. Still, it won't stop me. I'll work really, really hard!"
Her grey orbs seemed to shine with an unknown sparkle, making her look radiant. Guiltia felt a strange feeling swirl inside him. He had watched her more closely than the rest did. She really did grow up from a hesitant girl without a goal to a determined girl making her dream come true.
"If I can't make it this time then I'll find another path to become a composer. But I will definitely become a composer," she proclaimed. "Just as one of my dreams was fulfilled, I'll make this one come true as well."
Come to think of it, she did say she had found another dream. But she never told him what it was and kept it a secret from him. So what was the dream that came true in the meantime?
"Another dream? I've never heard of it," said Ange. "What is it?"
The dazzling smile accompanied by the faint blush on her cheeks made the heart of a certain blonde skip hard. "It was for OZ to sing a song that I composed."
To be continued...
No, the actual Saotome Academy has nothing to do with this story. I just needed a name for a music boarding school and this school came to my mind.
Anyways, I've decided to keep the two chapters per week (Tuesday/ Saturday) update schedule from now on.
Thanks for your support!
