Chapter 6: Home

Pyria slowly opened her eyes and she found herself in a large bed in a fancy room. She looked around as she got up and went to the door.

She widened her eyes when she saw a large form standing by the door. But she quickly recognized it as a wyrm.

She had dark red scales and pink wings. She looked at her and she squeaked with a jump. She nearly fell backwards in fear and surprise.

"Ah! I'm sorry for scaring you, dearest!" The female wyrm exclaimed, "are you alright? How did you sleep? Are you hungry?"

'Wait... what?' Pyria thought, confused. She slowly got up and dusted herself off before she looked at the wyrm.

"Um... I'm okay," Pyria said, "er... who are you?"

"I'm Kasula Farzorwyn!" She said, "his highness told me to be your personal maid today."

Pyria frowned in confusion before she remembered the night that dragon saved her from Voron and his guards. She looked around for a moment before she looked up at Kasula.

"Um... a dragon saved me," she said, "who was he?" "Oh! That was Zhoron Herric. He's one of King Elion's best guards," Kasula said with a smile.

For a wyrm, she was certainly chipper.

"Can... can you show me around?" Pyria asked. Kasula smiled and nodded and she carefully scooped the girl up and placed her on her shoulder before she started walking.

Pyria could see dragons, drakes, amphitheres, sea serpents and wyverns all around. But she didn't see Elion or Zhoron.

Some of them saw her and they bowed. Some whispered excitedly.

"It's the princess." "Thank the gods. She's safe." "I hope those pathetic elves did not taint her."

Pyria frowned slightly but she chose to ignore them. A part of her would miss Elisen but she was still upset at the fact that her whole life was spent being lied to about her true parents.

She sighed softly. Kalusa looked at her, "are you alright, princess?"

"Hm? Oh yes. I'm fine," she replied quickly, "I'm just thinking. This is... a lot."

"I can imagine that it is," Kalusa chuckled, a slight smile on her lips, "but... that is the beauty of our kind."

Pyria nodded slightly. "What... exactly are the powers of a dragon?"

"Well dragons control fire, drakes control earth, sea serpents control water, wyrms, wyverns and amphitheres control air," Kalusa said.

Pyria furrowed a brow. "I can control earth, fire and water."

Kalusa's eyes lit up and her wings fluttered with excitement.

"That's good! Just like your...!" She paused before her smile widened, "I'm sure the air element will come to you soon. You just need the right teacher."

Pyria nodded and she fidgeted nervously. Kalusa carried her to a large castle. It was very different from the one in the Elven Castles she had seen during her childhood.

It was even larger than she thought.

Kalusa walked into the castle and made her way down the hall. Pyria was amazed by how shiny everything looked. There were tapestries of dragons and humans.

Pyria hummed softly. She looked at Kalusa. The dragoness walked up to a very large door and Pyria looked at it. There was a emblem of a dragon on it.

She swallowed nervously and Kalusa pushed it open. Pyria looked ahead and she blinked.

There was a very large dragon sitting on where the throne chairs would be. He opened his eyes and smiled.

"Hello, Pyria," he said. Kalusa bowed and Pyria climbed down from her back. She looked up at the dragon nervously. This was him. Her father, Elion Fengwyn. The King of Dragons.

"H-hello... father," she said, smiling nervously. Elion chuckled as he stood up and he walked up to her. He carefully and gently brushed the side of her face with a claw.

"Look at you," he said, "you have certainly grown. And in the care of those... elves. I have to commend Elisen. Perhaps she did the right thing in raising you."

Pyria took a small step back, "w-wait... you... you knew she was raising me?"

"I did," Elion said calmly, "but that does not matter right now. Leave us, Kalusa."

"Yes, my king," Kalusa nodded before she walked out of the room. Elion looked down at Pyria, "you look so much like me."

"I... what makes you so sure?" Pyria asked nervously, "I thought you would have wanted to take a new mate and have new sons or daughters."

Elion chuckled, "I had that urge before I met your mother. After all, that was the duty of my being king. Just like all my predecessors before me."

Pyria looked away, "I see." "Oh come now, my dear," he said, gently lifting her head, "you are here now and that is all that matters to me. Now come. I have so much to show you."

Pyria hesitated before she climbed onto his shoulder. Elion smiled as he walked out of the throne room. The sunlight greeted the two and Pyria tried not to flinch.

As Elion walked through the town, dragons of all kinds bowed in his direction. Pyria looked around and she felt immediately uneasy. She didn't know why she had this feeling.

She felt like she didn't belong here. She couldn't remember how long it had been since this feeling started.

Maybe when she was with the Elves?

That feeling had remained with her since she was young. But this feeling felt... different. It felt foreign.

Maybe it was because of the fact that she was the daughter of a dragon.

She closed her eyes and rubbed her face. She could feel her hands shaking.

"Pyria?"

She opened her eyes and she looked up at Elion. "Are you alright, little one?" He asked.

She stared at him for a moment before she smiled, "I... I'm fine, father."

Elion's eyes softened and he gently nuzzled her, surprising her.

"I know it is a lot," he said, "but you will adjust. You are home now. And you are safe."

Pyria didn't say anything at first before she buried her face into his neck.

Elion smiled softly before it faded and his eyes glinted.

'And no one will ever take you away from me again.'
