I was walking down a street, close to the woods now. I looked up at the moon and sighed heavily. My mom just had to go there; I felt like I could attack anyone who got in my way. She’s just lucky I got out of there before I could attack her! Travis would have bin so mad at me if I did that.

I smelt a wolf scent close to me, but before I could turn around, I felt someone grabbed me and pulled me into the alley way. I smelt four other wolf scents and I was thrown against the brick wall.

Now, I’m pissed. Some wolves are really trying to jump me? I looked up to see Beta Kaleb punch me in the stomach real hard. I gasped and squeezed my eyes shut as I clenched over and put my hand over my stomach. I heard the other wolves chuckling.

“This is really the fool that tried to fight with you?”, one of them asked.

My hands balled up in a fist as I looked up, “What the fuck? What are you doing here?”, I asked Beta Kaleb.

He grabbed a fist full of my hair and I winced, “Teaching your punk ass who not to mess with again.”, he said, punching me in the face.

I fell down on my side and before I could do anything, he kicked me in the stomach. I let a sharp intake of breath and my eyes budged open. I reached out and grabbed his ankle, but only to distract him. I leaned up and tackled him down on the ground. I punched him in the face a good three times, but two guys grabbed my arms and slammed me against the brick wall.

Beta Kaleb got up and rubbed the blood from his mouth, “Good shot, but you got me really pissed off now.”,

For some reason, I found that really funny, “Well, hey, sorry for ruining that pretty face. I’m sure your daddy can but you a new one.”,

“Well, I don’t think Makenna would mind.”, he smirked and I breathed out my nose heavily. My wolf growled and it came out of my mouth as I scowled at him. “Now I see that got your attention. Now Shawn,” he said, stepping forward to me and I tried to get out of the hold, but it was no use, they were stronger then me. “I just need a wife who wont bug me ever and Makenna seems like that type. She’s stay out of my way and I’ll stay out of hers until mating seaon comes to have pups. I get what I want as you already know and what I want is that small raven haired green eye beauty of yours.”,

I growled at him, “She’s mine! I marked her already so your luck is out!”, I yelled.

“Hmm,” he said, looking away for a second as he went into thought. “Not if your dead and the mark wouldn’t matter.”,

Is this prick serious? I tried to escape again, but they just pushed me against the wall again. I could feel my wolf side crawling to get out, but I can’t shift here, I can only in the woods. It’s to public out here.

“You really think killing me is a way of getting her? Alpha Dylan wouldn’t let you go near her the first time! What makes your think he’ll let you now—especially if you kill me!?”, I snapped.

They all chuckled, “Oh, I wont have to worry about him soon. My dad going to take care of him soon.”,

“Huh?”, I asked. What does that mean? He can’t be talking about Alpha Clyde…killing Alpha Dylan, right? Shit! I have to get out of here. I really tried to get out they’re grips now! Well, I could try something I saw in a movie. I smacked my head against the guy on my right head and he was in so much shock, he let go of me. I quickly punched the other guy in the face and he let go of me.

Another one of his stupid friend tried to get me, but my anger and frustration was so built up, I grabbed him by the neck and slammed him down on the ground by his throat. When I let go of him, I was tackled by his last friend standing and I felt something painful stab in to my side. “Ahh!”, I yelled in pain. The guy got up, sliding the knife out of my waste.

“Good job, Riven.”, Beta Kaleb said, slapping the guy who stabbed me a high five.

I went on my side as I tired to get up, but Beta Kaleb kicked me in the ribs and his foot also hit the stab womb, making me yell again in pain.

The guys I got down got up and joined as they started beating me. A few moments later, Beta Kaleb called them off me. I was on my stomach and I spit some blood out my mouth. I felt so much in pain and actually a little numb some places. I felt to weak to even try to get up.

“You know Shawn, I really do hate to do this to a young wolf like yourself. But I’ll get over it. I’ll tell Makenna you said you loved her if that’ll mean anything to you.”, he chuckled. He put his feet on both side of me and bent down and wrapped one arm around my neck. The dickhead really is going to kill me!

I tried to move his arm, but I was to weak. I tried to get arm down my throat, but he was squeezing to tight. I blinked real hard to try and stay away, but everything started to feel dizzy.

“Please…don’t…”, I begged.

“Hey! What going on?”, I heard someone yell.

“Shit!”, Bets Kaleb yelled and I felt his arm slip from my neck. I sucked in some air and it felt like haven when the air filled my lungs. I heard all them running away and someone bend down next to me and asked if I was okay before my eyes rolled back and I passed out….

“She’ll be here any moment.”, I heard Alpha Dylan whisper. “I told her not to come, but she wouldn’t listen.”,

“I’m going to kill that little brat.”, Travis hissed.

“Slow your role, Travis.”, Alpha Dylan said. “You know you can’t kill him. One, you would go to jail. And second, you really think Clyde wouldn’t come after you since Kaleb next in line to become Alpha?”,

“I don’t care. He almost killed my brother.”, Travis said. “You really think I’m not going to do anything?”,

“And you really think I want a dead wolf on my plate right now?”, Alpha Dylan hissed. “Just calm you ass down, Travis.”,

A cough came up my throat as I opened my eyes and I groaned, my throat feeling slightly sore. I looked around and saw I was in a hospital room. I leaned up a little, feeling sore everywhere.

“What’s going on?”, I asked, looking at Travis and Alpha Dylan who were at the end of the bed. “What happen to Beta Kaleb?”,

“The punk ran off when the guy saw them.”, Travis said. “God, are you alright, Shawn?”, he asked.

“Well, I’m still here.”, I sarcastically said.

“Yeah, he’s fine.”, Travis said and rolled his eyes.

The door flew open and I saw Makenna at the door. Her eyes went wide when she saw me. I probably look as terrible as I felt. I lifted my hand up, “Hey, Mak—ow, ow,” I said when she attacked me by hugging me and I moved her. “I am sensitive right now.”, I said and chuckled when she blushed.

She sat down on the bed next to me, “What the heck happened to you? I had this weird feeling inside that you could breathe and you were hurt.”,

I raised an eyebrow and looked at Alpha Dylan, “You didn’t tell her?”,

“I didn’t want her to worry.”, he said.

“Tell me what?”, Makenan asked, looking at Alpha Dylan.

He sighed, “Shawn got jumped and almost killed…by Beta Kaleb.”,

“Beta Kaleb? That guy that came here with Alpha Clyde?”, she asked and we all nodded. “Why?”, she asked, putting her hand on my shoulder.

“Because he wants you.”, I said, my nose scrunching up and I wanted to growl and break things so bad. It’s in my nature, don’t blame me. “I rather get beat a thousand times before I let his hands touch Makenna.”,

“Why does he still want me? I’m marked.”, she asked confused.

“He doesn’t care.”, I said, getting up to stretch my muscles. I ran my hand down the white t-shirt I was in and looked down at her. “He wanted to kill me so the mark can’t mean anything and then he’ll mark you as his own.”,

“Can he just do that?”, she asked, looking at Alpha Dylan and me.

“He shouldn’t, but he can.”, he answered her.

“Why the heck does he want me so bad?”, she asked. “There are many Alpha daughters out there who would want him.”,

“He wants the daughter of the Alpha of Indiana, the second largest pack in the Northern states. And our bloodline is very strong when it comes to giving birth to pups.”, he said.

“And he think you’ll make a suitable house wife who wont bug him ever unless it comes to time to have pups.”, I finish and snorted.

She let an outtake of annoyed breathe, “What is this? The sixteen century where guys still they can own women like they were nothing and only say the women have are when they taking care of the children? How sexist.”, she said, getting up. “I am not object to be own and control by.”,

“Wooow,” I said, grinning at her. The more she lets her bold side out, the more I think we’re going to end up conceive my pups.

“She really is your daughter.”, Travis said, hitting Alpha Dylan stomach and he scowled at Travis for hitting him that hard. Travis came over to me and pointing at the bed, “You get back down on that bed, I’m going to go get a nurse—”,

My door opened and I saw my mom walk in. I raised an eyebrow, “Mom?”,

She gave me a smile, “Hey, Shawn.”, she said, walking in and noticing Makenna and Alpha Dylan. “Oh, hello. It’s nice to see you again, Makenna.”, she said, holding her hand out toward Makenna and Makenna put her hand in my mom and they shook hands. She smiled at Alpha Dylan and held her hand towards him, “Hi, I’m Stacy Gates, Shawn and Travis mother.”,

Alpha Dylan shook her hand, “Dylan, Makenna dad. I’m really good friends with Travis though.”,

“Oh, well it’s very nice to meet you.”, she said, giving him a flirty smile and Makenna, Travis, and I exchanged looked and scrunched up our noses.

Alpha Dylan chuckled, but it ended awkwardly, “Well anyways, Shawn we will talk later about what happened.”, he said, pointing at me serious and I nodded before he walked out. I know there somethingI have to tell him, butI can't seem to remember it.

Makenna got up from the bed and kissed me on the cheek, “See you tomorrow, Shawn.”,

I nodded and smiled, “Okay. Love you.”,

She gave me a small smile, “Love you, too.”, she said and waved goodbye to Travis and my mom before leaving.

My mom sat down at the end of the bed with a smile on her face and I raised an eyebrow at her for being so smiley-miley for some reason. “What?”, I asked.

She waved me off and chuckled, “Nothing. I like her, a lot.”,

I looked her questionably, “I thought you said we wouldn’t last.”,

“That’s before,” she said, getting up. “I knew my boys were wolves and this whole mating things.”,

My eyes widen and I looked up at Travis and he shrugged, “She’s our mom, she had the right to know.”,

“Why?”, I asked.

“She did something good for once.”, he answered and getting more confused, I looked at her.

She grinned, “I’m leaving James. When he woke up, I sent him on his merry little way back to Michigan. I’m going to get the divorce papers and I’m going to move to Indiana and go back to college and get my life straighten out. I’m sorry to the both of you that I was a horrible mother. I really want to be here for you both now, though.”,

Is she serious? I’m having my hesitation about believing her about that. I guess I’ll find out.

I didn’t say anything, but nodded my head. She put her hand on my cheek and kissed it, “I’m going to do better, Shawn. I’m actually going to be here for you boys now. No more men for a long time now.”, she said, waving off in the air. “I mean, that Dylan guy looked really cute, though—”,

“He’s mated.”, Travis and I both said and she had this bummed out look, but quickly changed it.

“Anyways, Travis and I are going to go back to Michigan tonight to grab some of my stuff and we’ll be back tomorrow to take you home.”,

“Wait! Your going to be living with us?”, I asked, scowling at Travis.

She shrugged, “Yeah. I’m going to be sleeping on the couch until I can get a loan to get my own apartment and get a job.”,

I just gave her an awkward smile. Oh great, I thought I got rid of living with my mother. Damnit
