I was laying down on my side as the ground as Makenna laid her top body on top of my stomach as she ran her fingers threw my fur. We’ve been in the woods for about forty minutes and I was still in wolf form. I wanted to shift back, but my wolf side was comfortable being out right now and her rubbing and scratching him.

She rubbed her forehead on my side as I heard her yawn. It was eight o’clock in the morning and she did wake us up real early. She pulled her knees up as she laid her head on me and I lifted my head to see her eyes close. Her mouth slightly open as she breathed in and out her mouth softly.

I laid my head back down, deciding to take a nap. If anyone comes, I would hear it and wake up before they could even take another step and change back before they see us.

I moved my body a little to get comfortable and Makenna groaned as she stretched her arms around and held me, though her hand never met again since I am pretty huge.

When I closed my eyes, I herd a the dry autumn leave crackling as someone stepped on them and sticks breaking. My body jerk, waking Makenna up, “Wha-what happening?”, she asked, her voice filled with sleep. She leaned up as she rubbed her eyes. I quickly shifted back in human form. Her eyes widen and she hers flamed up like a lighter being lit as she look away.

I got up and grabbed my boxers and slid them on as I said, “I heard someone—“

I didn’t finish when I smelt it was another wolf coming—not a human. I turned my head torwards the direction it was coming from and smelt the familiar scent. Alpha Dylan. It smelt like he wasn’t alone either. He was with his Beta and another wolf I didn’t recognize.

“What’s going on?”, Makenna asked, a concern look on her face.

“It’s Alpha Dylan.”, I said, watching in the forest for him to come.

“Dylan?”, she questioned. “What is he doing out here?”, she asked, looking around.

“I don’t know. He’s not close enough to hear his thoughts.”, I told her, wincing as I saw three figures running up near our direction. When they were at least a dozen yards away, they slowed down into a quick walk.

Makenna jerked as her eyes widen as she looked at the three wolves. Alpha Dylan was a dark brown almost black wolf. His Beta Zackary was a brick red and brown wolf. And the last one was another dark brown wolf.

What in hell are you guys doing out here?, I herd in my head Alpha Dylan voice.

I shrugged, “Nothing.”,

Makenna kept looking back and forth at me and Alpha Dylan wolf, “What are they saying?”,

“He wants to know why were out here.”, I said, not taking my eyes off Alpha Dylan.

Tell her to go home, he said, bopping his head at Makenna. It’s dangerous out here.

“What are you talking about?”, I asked. “I’m here with her, nothing will happen.”,

He snorted, You wouldn’t be able to stand up to them.

“Who?”,

Before he could speak, Makenna stepped forward, “Dylan?”, she questioned. He looked at her as she went up to him. She nervously reached out and touched the top of his head. She smiled at him, “Wow. My life just keeps getting weirder and weirder by the seconds.”, she said as she chuckled and rubbed the top of his head.

Alpha Dylan put his head next to her hip and pushed her aside, Tell her to go home.

“Why?”, I asked. “She’s fine and she wanted to come out here.”,

He growled at me, Just do as you told, brat.

I grimaced at him, “See, this is why I wont join your pack! I hate being told what to do and you just snapping at me isn’t helping! Tell me why you want us out of the woods and we’ll go.”,

You don’t have the right to know. I only tell my pack members. Ask your brother if you want to know badly. But don’t bring her out here again, he thought.

I stepped forward, “Why do you want me so badly in it? What’s going on? If you tell me,” I cut myself off, not sure if I want to say this. I never wanted to be part of something as a pack. I have always bin a loner even as a human and I don’t want someone who I barley know telling me what to do like I’m some doormat or something. It’s why I always refuse to be part of one. I sighed, “I’ll join your pack if you tell me.”,

He stared at me for a few seconds, studying me if I was serious. There's a war happening. The Nike Alpha of New York wanted to be in control of all of northern part of United States.

Ah, Hell.

My mouth dropped open, “You have got to be kidding me.”,

He shook his head, No. That’s why I want everyone in Indiana to join. If he brings this war down to Indiana, I want everyone together. I wont let him hurt anyone. If we largen the pack, he’ll back down from taking us. He already took Vermont and Maine. I’m not liking him take over Indiana like how he runs New York. That place is like Ancient Rome all over.

“So, no one safe?”, I asked, rasing an eyebrow. “Why didn’t you just say that before!”, I yelled, getting frustrated now.

Cause right now, your not my responsibility. I have no say in what you do and I have no rights to protect you or tell you anything,

“Why would Travis keep something like this from me?”, I asked, raising an eyebrow.

He hasn’t told you?,

“Tell me what?”, I asked.

“Shawn, what’s going on?”, Makenna finally asked. “What is he saying that has that look on your face?”,

He’s going to make you move back with your mother in Michigan, Alpha Dylan told me.

My mouth dropped again, but in anger. “What the hell are you talking about?”, I yelled. “I’m not going back there! Anyways, Michigan just above Indiana! It’s still the northern part.”,

Michigan already fought with Nike, it’s safe there. Travis said if you wont agree, he’s sending you back for your safety,

I stepped forwardly dangerously, feeling my wolf side crawling to come out. He wasn’t happy and really, neither am I. He has to be lying to me. Travis wouldn’t want me to move back with my mom and James. He’s hated James and her so much. Alpha Dylan has to be lying cause Travis would have told me sooner.

“Your lying.”, I said threw my teeth.

“Shawn, what’s wrong?”, Makenna asked seriously now. “Your—your eyes are changing to yellow color.”,

Alpha Dylan also stepped forward and bared his sharp teeth at me, You better back down, little boy. I am three times stronger then you. You’ll be down before you could blink.

“I’m not leaving Indiana.”, I said.

“What?”, Makenna asked, her eyebrows forwarding together.

“Travis can’t make me go back.”, I said.

“Go back where?”, Makenna asked, stepping forward, but Alpha Dylan just pushed her back with his head.

Yes Travis can if you don’t join the pack. The pack a family where everyone comes together and protects each other family. If Travis has to send you back when ever Clyde wants to attacks, he doesn’t want you here when it happens. Alpha Clyde wont hesitate to kill you, Alpha Dylan told me.

“I’m not leaving Makenna here.”, I told him. Finally, I sighed and ran my hands down my face, giving up. “Fine, I’ll join your pack. If that’s what it take to be in Indiana, I will.”,

Good. Come to the gathering next weekend. Makenna and her moms coming and you can be joined that day when mostly everyone together. Do you understand me, Shawn?,

I nodded, “Yeah, I understand. Next weekend.”,

He nodded his head, Now, get Makenna home. I don’t care if Clyde will tell us when he attacks. I don’t trust him and I don’t want humans—especially my daughter out here.

I ran my fingers threw my hair, “Okay.”, I said. As I got dressed, Makenna finally was able to come up to me.

“What is happening?”, she whispered to me.

I looked over at Alpha Dylan and he shook his head. I looked back at her, “Sorry, Makenna. It’s not my job to tell you that.”,

“But—“

I shook my head, “No. I’m sorry.”. I threw my shirt on and took her hand, “Come on, we have to leave the forest.”,

Makenna decided she didn’t want to go home so we went to the dinner. She was behind the counter stirring a spoon in her hot cup of tea. I told her about Travis wanting me to leave. I called him and told him to come here so we could talk about it. I just hope we don’t end up biting at each other necks.

“I don’t want you to leave, Shawn.”, Makenna said as she looked down at her cup of tea and her cheeks pinked up.

I reached out and took one of her hands, “I’m not, Makenna. I’m going to join the pack and be here with you.”,

She looked back up at me, “Do you really want to join?”, she asked.

I hesitated, but nodded, “Yeah, I guess I do. I want to be here with you and Travis. I can’t go back home and watch my step-father beat my mom and her not giving a care about stopping it.”,

She gave me a one side smile, but she looked nervous as she said, “I—I love you, Shawn.”,

I gave her a one side grin, “I love you to.”, I said as I leaned forward and kissed her. Her lips tasted just like green tea, that's the kind of tea she was drinking. My new favorite kind of drink.

I heard someone clear they throat and we pulled about to see a light blonde curly hair lady who looked to be in her early twenties. She had that southern bell look. Blonde natural hair and I could tell from her eyebrows being light. She had dark blue eyes and pink cheeks. Cute pink and white sundress with white sandals.

She smiled, “Hi.”, she said with a Tennessee accent. “I was wondering if ya both go to Ravenwood High?”,

Makenna nodded, “Yes?”,

She smiled bigger, “Great. I’m going in tomorrow for a student-teacher program for a week. I just moved here and didn’t know where the school was. I was wondering if you could tell me the direction. I’m teaching Sophomore English.”,

“Really?”, Makenna asked. “We’re both Sophomore.”,

She looked at me confused, “You’re a sophomore?”,

I shrugged, “I work out.”,

“Ah,” she said and nodding. “Well, it’ll be nice of ya’ll if ya both could help me. I just arrived today and don’t want to be strolling around town looking lost like Carol Henderson at prom.”, she said and giggled.

Mekanna and I looked at each other and raised an eyebrow. Carol Henderson? “Who?”, we both asked.

She looked taken back, “Oh, um, sorry.”, she said and smiled, but her cheeks flamed up behind her blush powered. “Nevermind. Can ya’ll both just—“

She didn’t get to finish when the bell of the diner rang and the door open and Travis walked in mad, “Shawn, what the hell was with the voicemail you sent—“

He didn’t even finish when he walked up to us, but froze when he looked down at the lady. His face dropped from the scrunched up anger to a shock look. He wasn’t doing anything, but the way his eyes lit up gave it away as he stared down at the five-six height lady.

I rolled my eyes, “Oh, jeez.”,

Makenna leaned in, “What happen to him?”, she whispered to me.

“Take a wild guess. That was the same look I gave you the first night.”, I said.

She looked confused for a second, then her eyes widen and her mouth opened slightly, “Oooh.”,

I just nodded.

The girl cheek pinked up and she bit one side of her lower lip, “H-hi.”, she stuttered, looking up at Travis with the same lit up eyes. She held up her hand, “I’m Renee.”,

Travis woke up and blinked a few time. He lifted is hand into her and grinned, “Travis.”,

She smiled up at him, “It’s nice to meet ya, Travis.”,

“You have an adorable accent.”, he complimented.

Her cheek rose up more, but she giggled, “Why thank you. I’m from Nashville and just moved here. You live around here?”,

He nodded, “Yeah. About two miles away.”,

I cleared my throat, but they never left each other throat. Okay, I don’t need Travis all gaga righ now. I want to snap at him for never telling me about how he was going to send me. I did it again, but they ignored me. “Travis,” I said, loud enough for him to hear me.

“What?”, he spat, but never left Renee.

“Can we talk about why I wanted you to come down here for.”, I said, not really making it a question.

He waved me off, “We can talk later, little brother.”,

“Oh.”, Renee said. “He’s your bother?”,

He nodded, “Yeah. Why? What did he do?”, he asked, scowling at me now, which I returned for many reason.

“Nothing!”, she said quickly, making him bring his attention back to her. “It’s just…you two don’t look alike but your eyes almost and nose. You both are very…handsome.”, she hesitantly and nervously said.

I felt Makenna nails dig into my hand and I grinned at her, “Down, kitty.”,

She grimaced at me, but kept quite.

“So, let me guess.”, Travis said, grinning down at her bigger. “A pretty lady like yourself already has a boyfriend.”,

She shook her head, “No, I don’t. Last one was a mean as a cow.”,

I saw Travis lip twitch, but switched the subject, “Well, do you think I can take a pretty lady like yourself out for coffee? They’re a café called Melanie around the corner and have the best hot chocolate.”,

Renee giggled, “Sure, I would love that.”. She frowned now and smacked her head, “Oh, look at me! I forgot what I came over here for. I need to find Ravenwood High. I’m going to the student-teacher program and need to find it before tomorrow.”,

“Well, I could show you.”, Travis said. “But first I want that hot chocolate with you.”,

She giggled again, “Okay, sure. I’ll take you up on that offer, Mr Strong Man.”, she said as she started to walk, but grab on to his bicep. “Yup, strong.”, she said and walked over to the door, her hips moving side to side.

Travis groaned as he watched, “She’s going to end up killing me by suffocation in my jeans.”,

Makenna chuckled and rolled her eyes, “Guys.”, she said as she grabbed her cup and went in the kitchen.
