I grimaced at my reflection and groaned. I touched the nasty dark color bruise that was on my rib caged and it was like I just got hit again, "Shit.", I groaned.

I got cuts and gross greenish and purple bruises all over my torso. They'll go away real quickly soon, but right now, my body looks gross. Damn, they beat me hard. I'm amazed I didn't break any bones.

Luckily the cuts on my face already healed. I ran one hand threw my hair and held the back of my neck as I sighed, "You look like shit.", I said to my reflection. I rolled my eyes and put my shirt back on. I need a shower and a long run. I can't let Travis see me like this or he'll flip. And I'll just feel much better after a run and being in my wolf form.

Makenna:

I smiled up at the waiter, "Thanks.", I said, taking the plate of fries and my cheese burger from him.

"No problem.", he said and placed the burger and fries in front of Dylan.

"Thanks.", he said and the waiter nodded and left. Dylan looked awkward around the Friendly restaurant, "I can't believe I let you drag me into this place.",

I took a sip of my Sprite soda, "You said anywhere and I have loved this place since I was eleven.", I said. He asked me where I wanted to eat and I said Friendly's. Sure, the restaurant a little kiddish, but I have some good memories here with my mom and...Jackson. "Mom said I should come here just to real like the little girl she wants me to be again. She says I'm growing up to fast.", I said as I took a bit of my French frie.

He nodded his head, "These years do go by fast.",

We both took the top bun of our burger off and took the pickles and onions off. We noticed each other doing that and awkwardly put the bun back on.

Just so the awkward feeling would go away, I looked around, "So, how many...people in here are...like you?", I asked, though I regret it since it just made the awkward feeling worse.

He looked around, "About two fifth of the room. I don't need to be in wolf form for them to be wondering what the Alpha of Indiana doing with a high school girl.",

My cheeks blushed up, "Th-they wont think any thing wrong, will they?",

He shrugged, "Let them think what they want right now. Soon they'll figure out you're my daughter when you come to a gathering next week to-",

"Wait, wait, wait!", I said, waving a hand for him to stop. "A--a what? What are you talking about?",

He looked confused, "A gathering. It's like a big picnic at my house for most of the wolves to come around and just be themselves. Your mom and you will come over and we can be a family-",

"Whoa, where are you getting at, Dylan?",

"After you see the house and my people, you guys can move in with me and we'll be a family like how we we're suppose to be.", he said, looking at me confused. "Don't you think that sounds like a good idea? I mean, I am your father and we should be together.",

My mouth was hanging open, "Don't--don't you think that's a little fast? I mean, we just got back in each other lives.",

They was no way I'm moving with him! He lives in the next town and I'm not going to move! Even, I know nothing about this guy but he's my father and he owns a car dealer ship! And he's a freaking werewolf and a Alpha.

"Well," he said, taking the ketchup, "I never said you have to move in right away. I'm just making a suggesting. But you will have come over for everyone to meet you. You have a big family and I'm sure they'll love to meet you. You have three uncles and two aunts, so you have many cousins.",

My right side of my lips twitched up, "Like Hayden? No effence to your nephew, but he's a real jerk.",

He chuckled, "Yeah, Hayden has always been a pain the butt to take care of. My sister Cassidy always had a hard time taking care of him since he's the little rebel. He reminds me of myself though.",

"You were a annoying jerk in school?", I asked, taking a bit of my burger.

He shrugged, "I was many things. I wasn't really labeled since I was cool with everyone in High School...well, mostly everyone.",

I arched an eyebrow, "What do you mean?",

"Um, your mother friends and Jackson hated me. They hated me for hurting your mother.", he said. "She told everyone I broke up with her. Her excuse was that I only wanted one thing from her and that parentally I got it.", he said, rolling his eyes. "I was mad at her for a long time for telling the school that, but I gave her the pass she wanted.",

My mouth dropped, "My--my mom said that! How different was she back then?", I asked, shocked that I'm learning whole new things about my own mother!

He didn't speak for a moment, but said, "She wasn't that different, but she had a rough edge, an edge only I ever saw. She could be manipulation sometimes, but I still loved her no matter what. She got on my nerves all the time with her begging, but I still loved her.", he said. "She was great, though. People never thought bad of her and she was a nice artist. When we we're together, she told me everything and anything. Told me always how she feels and that I would make any girl happy, but at that time, she didn't know what I was and what she was to me.", he said, looking down at his food with a sad expression.

Ah, Hell.

"I'll come.", I said. He looked up at me confused, "The gathering...you know, I'll come. I think I should get to know my other side.", thought I had this feeling nervous of what they could think of me. I mean, I'm not like them. What if they don't like me?

He smiled, "Great. And don't worry, they'll just love you. They loved you mother, they'll defiantly love you.",

I was telling Dylan about my days in gymnastics as we walked passed some stores. We we're in a large outlet like complexes. I also was talking about other stuff like school and what I been doing it most of my life. I wanted to badly ask what it was like to be a wolf, but I also think I don't want to know.

I heard some low growling sound from a store. I looked up to see a sigh saying 'Angel's Pet Store". I looked in the window and saw a black and light brown miniature pinscher puppy and a black pug puppy playing around in a cage.

I couldn't help but I run up to the window and gush, "Aww, they're so cute!",

They stopped wrestling around with each other and took notice of me. They starting clawing at the window and whimpering and gave me huge puppy dog eyes.

My heart warmed up, "Aww! I wanna go in!", I said, not really looking at Dylan or waiting for his answer as I ran over to the door and went in. I want over to the cash register, "Hi, I was wondering if I could hold those two puppies?", I asked, pointing a the cage where to the adorable creatures are.

She gave me a confused look, "You mean Embry and Cody?",

I nodded as Dylan came into the store, "Yes, please.",

She shrugged, "Okay, come on.",

We walked over to the cage and she gave me a bottle of hand sanitizer. I squeezed some on my hand as she took them out of the cage. The two dogs wiggled in the lady hand to try to escape and I giggled at they're cuteness.

"They like you.", Dylan said next to me. I looked up at him confused, "I can hear what they're thinking. Wolves are also dogs to.", he whispered. "We're just larger.",

I fallowed the lady over to the back of the room where a fench with some fake grass are. I step in and sat down as she placed Embry and Cody down. They ran over to me and jumped on my lap and started licking my cheeks. I giggled more, "I want you guys!", I gushed, even though I shouldn't since I don't have the money for two expansive puppies.

They started wrestler on my lap as the lady said, "They're like brothers. They're always playing with each other.",

I picked Cody the pug up and held him in front of me face, "Aren't you the cutest pug I ever seen?", I said in a baby like voice. He licked my nose, but also nipped at it, "Oww!",

Embry ran over to the fence and jumped in front of Dylan. Dylan looked at the lady and she said, "Go ahead. He's fed from a bowl unlike that one.",

Dylan finally picked up Embry and just held in front of him, but Embry was trying to get closer this his ear, "Whoa!",

"Hmm, that's odd. He only ever try's to bite other dogs ears.", the lady said.

Dylan gave her a fake smile and moan, "Hmm.", he said and rolled his eyes at the dog. Only if they lady knew he is a dog. "You will stop that, now.",

Emby stopped trying to bite his ear. My eyes widen, "How you do that?",

He grinned at me, "I'm the big dog, remember?",

The lady just laugh, probably taking it as a joke, but I knew what he meant by that. He's an Alpha of wolves...and regular dogs.

Cody nipped at my cheek, but it didn't hurt, "I'm sorry for not paying attention to you, mister.", I said to him and he licked my cheek with his small pink tongue. Just out of curiosity, I asked, "How much are both?",

"We're having a sale. Cody here a hundred and seventy five dollars and Embry two hundred.", the lady said.

I frowned at the prices, but before I could groan, Dylan said, "We'll take them.",

My mouth dropped, "Wha-what? Dylan, that's to much money!",

"You do remember I have lots of money, do you?", he asked. "You do want them, don't you?", he asked.

"Will, yes, but I have to talk to my mom. I just can't bring home two dogs without her knowing.", I said in a very 'duh' way.

"Why? I came over with out her knowing.", he chuckled.

I rolled my eyes again, "Still.",

"Well how about this, it'll be a surprise for her.", he said. Right when I opened my mouth to argue, he cut me off, "Nope, don't want to hear it, Makenna. Let this be a gift for you--gift for all your birthdays I couldn't be there for you.", he said, placing Embry in one arm and he tried to bite Dylan ear again, but he just pulled his head away as he reached in the back of his pocket and pulled out a wallet and gave her a blue Visa card. "Both, please.",

She shrugged, "Yes, sir.", she said, taking them. "You both can go around looking for some stuff you'll need and want.",

He nodded and I gave him a grin, "My mom is going to kill you.", I chuckled and got up with my new pet, Cody the pug.

As we started looking around for dog collars, food, and toys, Dylan said, "You do know you have to take care of them. That means taking them for walks and playing with them.",

I rolled my eyes, "Of course I know. I have no problem with that. It'll get me out the house when I'm not working.",

He looked down at me confused, "I thought I told you, you weren't going to work anymore. You need to focus on school, Makenna.",

"I have no problem with working.", I said, picking up a red leash and held it in front of Cody, "You like this one?",

He tried biting the leash by stretching his neck out, but he couldn't reach it. I thought it was totally adorable. I got a blue one for Embry then.

"Do you think we should get cages?", I asked, walking up to a few cages for dogs. I grimace, "I don't like the idea of putting them in there, but I don't know if my mom would like them out at night for bed.",

"We're not getting cages. They're like an jail sentence to my kind. We'll get them one of those cushion things to sleep on at night for the living room. You mom can just deal and I think I can peruse her let that happen.", he said, putting on a big giant grin on his face and my face scrunched up in disgust, which he chuckled at.

When we walked out of the pet store, I got down on my knees and put the leash on Cody and I did the same for Embry to let them walk. God knows how long they been in there. Sure, they're puppies, but still.

"Makenna, I need to talk to you about Shawn.", Dylan said.

I looked up at him confused, "About?". Please don't tell me he's going to go all protective daddy on me and say I can't date him or something like that.

"Well, in all states, we have a pack. You already know I'm Alpha, but I'm Alpha of the entire state of Indiana. Young wolves like himself can either join or not. I want Shawn to be in.", he said.

I arched an eyebrows, "These 'pack' aren't like gangs or mafia stuff, right?",

He chuckled, "No, no. Packs are we're wolves can be together, know each other, and be like a whole big family. As my job as Alpha, I need to keep everyone in line and make sure our secret is safe from human who don't need to know about us. I make sure everyone safe and no harm comes to anyone.",

"Wow, that seems like a lot of responsibly.", I said.

He nodded, "It is. But that isn't the point right now. My point is that I need all the wolves in Indiana to join together and I need Shawn in it.",

"Why?", I asked. "What's going on?",

He put his hand behind my head and smiled, "Nothing for you to worry about. I got it handle, but I do need your help. Can you talk to Shawn about joining? It's really important.",

I bit down on my right side of my lower lip, "I don't know...Shawn kind of hot headed and stubborn.",

He just continued to smile down at me, "I know you can do it, Makenna.", he said, dropping his head. "It would be really important to have my pack population numbers grow. So, will you?",

"Um," I said, scratching the back of my head awkwardly. "I guess I can try.",

"Good.", he said.

I took out my phone to arrange that movie tonight with Shawn. Dylan actually sounded desperate to have Shawn in. It was a little weird to tell you the truth. There has to be something going that he isn't telling anymore and it has to be big.

Shawn:

I rolled the sleeve to my black long sleeve shirt up a little as I walked out of the bathroom. Travis was on the couch with a fox name Alexandria in his arm and they were talking and she was giggling.

"Going somewhere?", Travis asked.

I grinned down at him, "Date tonight with Makenna.",

"Is that what I smell.", Alexandria asked and waved her finger at me. "Funny, you found a mate before your brother.",

"I'm not complaining.", Travis said and kissed her neck. "If I had one, you wouldn't be here with me.",

She giggled, "Very true, so it's a good thing...for you.", she said, turning her head around and kissed him.

They started making out and I rolled my eyes at them and grabbed my keys off the table, "I'll be home when the movie done, kay?", I asked, even though I'm not sure if he'll answer me.

"Mh-hmm.", he moaned against the girl lips and waved his hand at me up and down for me to leave and I just rolled my eyes again.

I flipped my phone open with my thumb and checked the time, she was late. It was a little odd, actually. I sighed and closed the phone. She told me she would meet me here, but the movie already started ten minutes ago.

Where could she be?

I called her again for the forth time, but like before, her phone just ranged seven times and went to voice mail. I closed the phone and ran my hand threw my hair in frustration. She just stood me up...

No, she couldn't have. That isn't like Makenna just to do that.

I debated to myself weather or not I should go over to her house. But I'm to frustrated that I swear I'm going to shift any second, so I guess that's a no. I leaned up from the wall I was leaning on and left the movie theater.
