Vision from the airport

Samantha stops as she steps down the stairs of her jet, she has a gesture of defense she doesn't know why. She sees her, looking as flawless as ever, time hasn't changed her even a little bit. She is sticking to her oversized glasses, her face still doesn't hold a slight of empathy and she glares as she always does. Cassidy is here, she is as stylish as ever, she is walking down her jet right in front of Samantha.

Cassidy does not realise at first. She can't process, can not think about what this means. In fact, it really just means one thing: the woman she has loved and will love endlessly until probably the end of her life is standing in front of her. A woman whom she used to hang out with everyday and whom she had not seen in more than a year and a half. This is the same woman that walked out her house a year ago in tears, the same woman that changed her life forever. The woman that she broke because she refused to open up in the first place too. She still looks radiant as always, always smiling and bubbly. It's Samantha.
All the feelings in the editor jump out again, she feels the knot form at the base of her stomach and the fluttery feeling of anticipation.
From where she's standing she sees Samantha talking to a young redhead, her cap is off and her hair has fallen down. The redhead then reaches up and for a brief second and brushes Samantha's lips with her own. Samantha can't stop it because she doesn't realize it's coming, she can't stop it although she has already seen the other jet and the passenger get down. Cassidy turns sharply as a Range Rover drives up in the distance to meet her.
Samantha quickly pulls the young redhead aside and runs softly to the older woman.
« Cassidy! » She calls her name, her voice filled with joy and anticipation.
It feels good to her to call this name again out loud, to see the older woman reacting and turning around to meet her gaze with her deep emerald eyes, those eyes Samantha could never get tired of.
She doesn't know why she has ran to meet her, she knows they are not in really good terms but she tends to follow her heart more than to think with her brain first. Her heart has spoke for itself, it still belongs to the older woman and that is why she is running towards her right now in high Louboutin heels.
« Samantha. » Cassidy breathes as the car pulls up.
Samantha feels butterfly as she hears that voice pronouncing her name.
« It's not what it looks like. » She explains as she points out the ginger because it is the first thing that come out her mouth.
Cassidy doesn't smile, she just frowns and puts her hand on the car's door, ready to open it.
« What? » She asks quietly.
Samantha turns around to Sally who is waiting for her close to the jet. Cassidy understands Samantha is seeing someone else, she feels hurt but also she knows she is not allowed to say a thing because she is the one who ended their relationship more than a year ago. And if that girl makes her happy, then she is happy.
« We haven't talked in months Samantha, you don't owe me an explanation. » She says coldly as she opens the door of the car and steps in.
Samantha feels the sudden urge to stop her from closing the door, she is afraid she will go away and she doesn't want this to be their last conversation. She needs more, she needs to have a real serious conversation with her. She's been wanting this since she left her in tears the last time.
« Cassidy, wait. » She stops the door from closing with her hand, Cassidy looks up to her and takes off her glasses to contemplate her with teary eyes.
« What? » She sighs.
She just wants to go away as she feels the tears coming, she doesn't want the younger woman to see her crying like she is weak. She is far from weak.
« You're probably here for work so I don't want to steal your time, but I just want to tell you that I am still in love with you, I told you I would always be, it doesn't matter who kisses me I will never love someone else because it is not you. » She drops without thinking, she wants the editor to know everything now. « Cassidy, why are we apart like this? We could be so happy. » She breathes in a dramatic tone.
Cassidy doesn't want to but she smiles and the tears that were holding finally fall down her cheek.
« I have a meeting right now and you're ruining my makeup. » Cassidy chuckles.
Samantha laughs softly with wet eyes too.
« I'm sorry. » She says through a laugh.
Cassidy quickly wipes a tear and places her hand under her ex girlfriend's chin.
« I will have to go soon Samantha. » She whispers as she caresses her chin. Her soft skin is electrifying.
Samantha takes Cassidy's hand off her chin and hold it tight in her hand, remembering the woman's soft and loving touch on her skin that she never really forgot because her touch never went off.
« Please, we have a lot to discuss about. Please don't go away, tell me you still love me. » The younger woman practically beg her to stay, squeezing her hand. Samantha's eyes look so desperate and vulnerable, Cassidy wants to hold her tight and reassure her like she should have done a year ago.
« We can discuss it later, what do you say? » Cassidy nods in a reassuring tone.
There is hope in Samantha's eyes, her blue eyes that are completely unique to her. It is as if the ocean and the sky existed in her, light blue and sparks of cobalt mixed together in the creators palate.
« For how long are you staying in Milan? »
Cassidy keeps herself from answering that she will be staying as long as she wants her to.
« A full week. We can discuss it this week. » She whispers with a smile.
The words Cassidy breathe are a whisper on her ear as Samantha interlaces their fingers and brings them to her lips to kiss them slowly in a loving kiss.
We often say that airports see more sincere kisses that wedding halls. In this case it has never been more true.
« I'll call you, I promise. » Samantha whispers. « Now go or you'll be late. »

« I'm calling your doctor as soon as we have arrived. » Samantha's personal agent says in the car.
« I don't need a doctor I'm just anxious, it'll pass. » She answers as she pours herself a glass of water, she is really in need of it.
She is heading to a photo shoot in her car for the day.
« Why are you anxious? » The woman with brown hair asks.
« I have an important call to make. » Samantha answers.
She has promised she'd call Cassidy before the end of the week, and she will do so, but she is anxious the older woman changed her mind about all this. She plans on calling her tonight to fix an hour and a place to meet before the end of the week, before Cassidy goes back to New York and before that last chance might blow up.
Her agent says things to reassure her and then she changes the subject and explain what she'll have to do for the Valentino photoshoot she is heading to. Samantha's not paying attention to what she's saying. She's running her hand through her white hair, as the breeze plays with it, she's admiring the beautiful rolling hills and houses that dot the landscape through the window. Here she is a different person, someone whom the Samantha back home would not recognize. She wonders about Cassidy every second, she wonders if she is waiting for her to call impatiently. She turns to ask her agent, whom is sitting by her side, when she is free during the week to plan to see Cassidy and discuss, and then that's a the moment she sees it.
She sees the semi-truck losing control on the crossway. She sees it in slow motion, yet it's too fast to stop the car, she hears the loud crash before she feels the impact. It's loud, louder than she's ever heard something crash. It sounds like drums are playing inside her ears, unstoppable drums.
The brakes reel and the tires burn against the pavement. The familiar smell of burning rubber still reaches her, and a blind, illustrious flash blinds her. She doesn't see her life flash before her eyes, she only feels panic and regrets wash over her, and all she can think about is the last few months until she can't think anymore.
It is a movie reel in reverse that she sees, from the moment they landed in Italy to the day she walked out of Cassidy's townhouse. The months in between have melancholy and nostalgia but full of so much she never knew she was missing. Milan has been a lesson in business. That is there, in Milan, that her career started. There she has got her first contract, her first photoshoot, everything had seemed to go too slow because she was impatient but now she has realized it went very quick, everything went too quickly. From the day she has stepped out of Cassidy's townhouse, everything went too quickly, from her first runway as a model to this accident. And those time she has learnt to deal with the press, learnt to trick them and to hide from them, from the unstoppable paparazzis. Those time where Agatha would help her escape from them, it's in Milan she met Agatha as well. They had met at work, it just started with a joke from Agatha, and then a conversation, and then a lunch together to two very good friends. There was once a time where her father visited her in Milan with her cousin whom she had not seen over many years. Blake Asher used to be home often during Samantha's childhood, as Sierra and Blake's mom were really close sisters, they were both very close but they got apart with time until Blake agreed to come visit with Frank. Blake was a really playful woman, who turned out to be fun and inviting, she freshly got out of college and graduated from law school.
« I wasn't expecting to see you so beautiful and stylish. And damn girl you got an ass! » She said laughing as she came out of the airport to hug her cousin.
Samantha had greeted her in a hug.
« So where are Beyonce and Kim Kardashian? » Blake had joked as she entered Samantha's house, rushing inside.
« Blake Asher is sincerely better than Beyonce and Kim Kardashian. » Samantha laughed. « So why did you suddenly decide to come visit me? » She asked as she leaned against the table in the kitchen to rest.
« Sierra said you weren't really willing to talk to her as I asked her about you on the phone and suggested me to come visit you myself to see how you are doing. » Blake explained, brushing her long brown curls with her fingers.
She looks like a typic Asher woman, she has dark hair and honey-colored eyes, just like Samantha's mother. Samantha sadly hasn't got her mother's feature and has got more of her father's; nobody would notice she is Sierra's daughter.
« Oh, well if you really want to know, I'm doing fine. As you see I got everything I always dreamed of. » She shrugged her shoulders.
« But are you really? Why are you so distant from your mom, then? » Blake asked sadly from the other side of the kitchen, she was just walking around to visit.
Samantha was hesitant.
« It's a long story. » Samantha mumbled.
« Try at least to think about it. »
And she did think about it for months, she was indeed figuring out if avoiding her mother was a good solution. Time had passed, things were not really forgotten but they could be forgiven. And it would be unfair to Sierra if Samantha had forgiven Cassidy but not her own mother too. Samantha was planning on calling her mom also, to talk about it all and try to arrange things.
« So when do I get to meet her? » Blake had asked a week later while they were eating at a little restaurant close to the mainland.
« Who? » Samantha asked, she coughed eating her vegetables.
« Your girlfriend. » She spitted out with a satisfied smile.
« How do you know I'm bis... »
« A bisexual? » She cuts her out. « The medias babe. I don't really trust them but I had to admit you've been carrying pride energy your whole life. »
Samantha coughed even more.
« Well I don't have a girlfriend anymore, it's written on the press I have been single for a long time now. » Samantha looked down, trying not to be too rude in her words though she didn't really like when people talked about girlfriends to her.
« I know you broke up with the older woman but are you sure you don't have someone else you're trying to hide from me? » Blake asked jokingly.
« There is no one else. » She said.
Of course there was no one else, it was always Cassidy.
And as she gets hit by that car in that accident, Cassidy is the only person she can think of before everything turns to black.
