Chapter 10

Sarah

Finally out of the car or actually I fell out of the car and on to the ground. Car rides with a bunch of myths are not fun. Devil and Maxina have to sit next to each other to balance each other's powers out. They don't like that at all. Then there is the little goblin boy Matthew, he plays jokes on everyone. Like throwing random stuff at people.

Anyway it was not pleasant. Mik got out of the car and saw me.

"You look hot with your face in the mud," he said. Such a strange compliment.

Vanessa got out of the car and stood on me. I groaned as she walked off so I got up and dusted myself off. I took a deep breath in, I smelt the salt water in the air and shivered.

Poseidon...

I will not go in the water. My mother told me that if I went into the ocean Poseidon would pull me under the water and drown me. I cried myself to sleep that night because I loved the beach but I didn't go ocean ever again. I'm not going to go in now.

Maxina

The ocean... I saw in on the horizon. So beautiful, so much water. My powers grew stronger as I smelt the salty air.

Heather got out of the car and looked at me "It makes your powers stronger doesn't it?"

I nodded "yeah, I love it."

"It's strange how nature can influence magic like that."

"I don't think it's strange, I'm a water witch!" I exclaimed making my hair turn to water then flicking it fabulously.

She smiled at me "You're still so inexperienced Maxina."

"Maybe...." I trailed off "I'll get stronger."

"I could always help you."

"But you're an electric witch..."

"It doesn't matter, I can still help you improve."

"I'll think about it," I told her and she walked off.

It is true that I'm not as strong as her or a lot of other witches but my magic will get stronger. I know it will. I just need more practise that's all. Water magic is a fairly common magic so it's not meant to be that hard to master. It's just the stronger spells that I struggle with. Maybe this trip will help improve my magic.

Sarah

We were staying at a human's motel. I am in a room with Maxina and Natasha. Natasha looked at the room and asked "How long do you think it will take Devil to destroy this place?"

"I'll give her two hours," I said then heard an explosion "maybe one."

"She destroys too much if you ask me," said Maxina.

"We didn't," I said.

Natasha giggled. "Anyway, are you turtly ready to go to the beach!" shouted Maxina.

"I guess," said Natasha.

"I've got the cutest new bikini!" Maxina screamed and clicked her fingers. Her clothes disappeared and a bikini appeared on her body. She began modelling it doing stupid poses.

"Maxina you do know I could die from going into the water?" I asked Maxina but she was too busy modelling to hear me. Mostly doing her emu pose. She puts one hand on her hip and the other in the air in the shape of a bird's beak. She then goes around a pecks people. I don't know why she does it but then again I don't know a lot of things that go around in that crazy head of hers but I'm guessing there would be a lot of blue.

I stepped on to the beach; I was wearing a purple bikini that had black hibiscus flowers printed on the left side of them. Mik looked at me "wow," he said.

I rolled my eyes and kept walking down the beach. I could see the white mark on above Mik's shoulder. He said that was a bullet mark from when someone shot him. He didn't say who though ... he doesn't say anything about his past. At the hotel it's considered rude to ask about people's past. In fact it's even rude to ask their last name.

Anyway, I could see Maxina playing in the water with Friday. I sat down next to Nicoletta, Natasha, Flo and Niya. Nicoletta was putting sun screen on Niya who was staring off into the distance. "Can't she put on her own sun screen?" I asked Nicoletta.

"No, she keeps eating it," explained Nicoletta. I rolled my eyes; that sounds like a thing that Niya would do. I squirted some sun screen on to my hand and began rubbing it on my arm. I smelt dog behind me. "Mik what do you want?" I asked as I turned to see him.

"Do you want me to help you with your sun screen?" he asked trying but failing to do puppy dog eyes.

"No," I said simply.

He looked kind of disappointed but then said "I won't take no for an answer."

He grabbed the bottle of sun screen and squirted a lot of sun screen into his hand. I was not going to let him put that on me so I ran. Now this is what sets Mik apart from the other boys, if I had ran away from them they would have gotten the message but not Mik he got up and chased me. We ran all over the beach Devil and Noah were laughing their heads off at me.

Devil and Noah sat well away from the water. They did that because if Devil went into the water she could die.

Anyway I was running from Mik. I knew if I kept running he would tire but that could take a while and I don't want to spend the whole day running from Mik. "Nicoletta can you help me?" I called out.

"Sure, I'm done with Niya," she said as she got up and let Niya go. She shifted into her Tasmanian devil and chased after Mik. He saw her and ran faster because he knows what she can do with those powerful jaws but he could not outrun her. After a while of running Nicoletta caught up to him and caught him using her mouth. I stopped running and walked over to them.

"Tell her to let me go!" pleaded Mik.

"If she lets me go you will chase me again," I said.

"True," he said.

I took the bottle of sunscreen from his hand and squirted some out. I covered my entire body with it before telling Nicoletta "let him go."

After all that I just want to curl up in the warm sand and go to sleep. So that's what I did.

Natasha

I dipped my toe into the water. "That's cold!" I exclaimed.

Nicoletta who was beside me looked at me, "Yeah, how is Maxina swimming around in it?"

"That girl loves the cold remember," we both looked at her splashing around in the water.

"Crazy girl," Nicoletta whispered.

I giggled and put my whole foot into the ice cold water. It made my foot feel numb. Oh well I'll get used to it. A wave came towards me and splashed water onto my ankle, I shivered and started to walk into the water.

"Natasha!," I looked back at her "Wait for me!"

Nicoletta followed me, she too was shivering.

We got about waist deep and Jayson came up to us "Hello girls."

"Hi," I muttered glumly.

"You look cold," He said.

"I wonder why that is," I growled.

He smiled and splashed me. The icy water hit my face and I screamed "Not funny!"

He laughed at me. How dare he! Time for revenge. I splashed him back then he splashed me. Then it started a splash war between us. Nicoletta edged away from us, obviously not wanting to get any more water on her than she had. We turned on her and made her the focus of our attacks.

She splashed us back using her were-Tazmanian devil strength to create a massive wave. It swept me off my feet but Jayson grabbed my arm.

"Thanks," I told him and he nodded.

Sarah

I woke up to a pain in my arm. My eyes flicked open. There was a chunk taken out of my left arm. I looked around to see who had done this but all I saw was a seal going into the water. That is so weird.

Devil came running up to me. "Are you ok?" she asked "that seal just attacked you."

"I'm fine apart from this," I answered showing her left arm.

"How does a seal do that to a werecat?" asked Devil.

"I don't know maybe it's a monster," I answered "but I should get Jayson to look at this."

Devil nodded. I walked over to where Jayson was sitting with John. Jayson looked like he had been in the water recently but John was dry.

"Whoa what happened to you," John asked as I came near. I realized it was bleeding quite a bit as there was blood all down my arm.

"A seal attacked me," I replied feeling a little embarrassed.

"Didn't you see it coming they aren't exactly the fastest animals?" asked Jayson.

"I was asleep ok. Now are you going to help me or just ask questions?" I asked.

"Fine sit down next to me and let me take a look at your arm," Jayson told me.

I did as he said. He looked at my arm for a while then took some bandages out from his bag and started wrapping up my arm. He came prepared and with this lot he ought to be. Once he had finished wrapping it up he placed his hand over on it and closed his eyes. I don't know why he does that but it seems to make things heal faster. Once he had opened his eyes he said "That should heal quickly because you are a werecat but you should still go back to the hotel and get some rest."

I nodded and walked off. At least now I can get away from the beach.

When I got back and opened the door I could see little dragon; Moon Light sitting on my bed. She gave me a dragon smile which doesn't look very smile-ish to a normal person. "You're not supposed to be here, no pets allowed," I scolded her.

I'm not a pet I'm a dragon

"Same thing Moon Light," I told her.

It is not and you need to learn that. A dragon can be as smart as any human in fact they are usually smarter.

"Ok but how would you know if dragons are smarter than humans if you not know anything of your heritage?" I asked.

She just snorted and looked at me. It took me a little while to realise that she was saying that she was smarter than me. "Hey," I yelled when I realised.

Your timing just proved my point.

What a cheeky dragon I have, we should have fun together. I smiled at her and said "Come on let's read Eragon."

Maxina

The ocean's water made me strong. I made the water swirl around me and lift up into the air forming a ring of water. It sparkled beautifully in the air as I gazed up at it.

"Your magic is beautiful," I heard someone say.

I turned to see Darrel standing there looking up at the ring of water. He was holding an umbrella to shield himself from the sun. It would burn him since he is a vampire.

"I know... I only wish I was this strong normally," I sighed.

"What do you mean?" he asked walking closer to me.

"Well, I'm not that strong...."

"You're way stronger than me."

I looked at him, he was a vampire but he wasn't good at fighting and he didn't have any special powers aside from being a vampire. I'd definitely beat him in a fight

"Sorry I really shouldn't be complaining to you," I said and felt myself weaken so I let down the ring of water. It splashed us both and I giggled.

He smiled at me "Don't worry about it, magic uses are meant to be strong aren't they?"

"Yeah we bend the rules of nature so... we are strong."

"That's cool, I don't really understand magic to be honest," He looked at the ground.

I splashed him "That's ok, I don't understand vampires. We can't know everything about every myth right?"

He smiled "Yeah you're right."

Sarah

We had to find a new motel to stay in because as you could probably guess Devil burnt it down. Maxina was being "annoying" so Devil went to hit her but Maxina ducked and Devil hit the wall. The fire from her fist caught and in burned down. Devil blames Maxina for it.

Right now we are on the street and Maxina is looking for new places we could stay. What I don't understand was why Maxina didn't put out the fires with her water magic. Maybe she was having a blonde moment or blue moment. Olivia leader of the element group and daughter of the fire goddess was screaming at Devil.

Even though Devil and Olivia are half sisters they hate each other. I don't like Olivia either she is so bossy and horrible. I saw Olivia flick her hair which the end of are always on fire at Devil. Devil shouted at her "That won't have any effect on me; we have the same powers, genius!"

I sighed and looked away. Maxina needs to find another motel fast.

We ended up in some little motel room that smelt of feet. I was with Devil, Natasha, Nicoletta and Olivia. Having Devil and Olivia in the same room was awkward. They were giving each other the silent treatment and glaring at each other. After a while I got to sleep with Moon Light curled up at the end of my bed like a cat.

Maxina

Somehow I ended up in the same room as Heather. There was an awkwardness between us as I still haven't told her whether or not I want her help. She is very powerful, even being in the same room as her I could feel her intense power. Maybe I should get her help.

She looked at me "You want my help?"

"Wha-"

"Maxina you leave you mind open to anyone, really you're all over the place. You need to use you soul to protect your mind. Anyone could come into it and destroy it. You're lucky that it was only me in your mind," He explained to me.

I nodded.

"But what is really the problem with your magic you are focusing too much on the light side of your soul when you cast spells, you need to use the dark side because that's where your magic is from. You're not going to get anywhere if you keep using the light side," She told me.

I blinked a few times "Dark side? How is water magic from the dark side of your soul?"

"Well your opposite is Fire and fire is your light half Maxina," She explained.

"But if I use my dark side I'll turn into an evil witch won't I?"

"No not at all, I have a lot to teach you," she smiled at me and her purple lipstick made me feel sick.

Sarah

Today I woke up to Niya staring at me from the end of my bed. I screamed, jumped and fell out of the bed. Niya just turned and walked out of the room.

"Thanks for waking me up," grunted Devil who had probably been woken up by my scream.

"Nnnn ... n... Niya was here," I stammered.

"She isn't here now," said Olivia rubbing her eyes.

"I said WAS and you know how Niya is...."

"Yeah she is pretty creepy," said Natasha who was curled up in her covers.

Devil looked over at Nicoletta who was still sleeping peacefully. Devil gave me an evil look and whispered menacingly "lets draw on her face."

I rolled my eyes and got up off the floor. Devil snuck up on Nicoletta with a Sharpie, even though she was asleep. Before Devil could get close to Nicoletta, Natasha popped up out of nowhere in front of Devil and said "Don't even think about it."

"Hey no using powers," complained Devil.

"Says the girl who burnt down the last motel," said Olivia.

Devil turned to Olivia and yelled "That was Maxina's fault!"

Everyone sighed including Nicoletta, who had just been woken up by Devil's loudness.

"If she had taken the blow like a man the motel would still be standing," Devil explained.

"Maxina is a girl, you do know what a girl is do you Devil," explained Olivia speaking lowly like she would to a child.

"I know what a girl is," said Devil angrily her hair catching fire. When Devil's hair catches fire it means she is pretty angry but if you can see fire in her eyes then you have seconds to live.

"Oh is the little girl mad," said Olivia in a baby voice.

Devil didn't take any more of this; she jumped and tackled Olivia to the ground. Olivia kicked Devil off and had just enough time to stand up before Devil kicked her with fire surrounding her leg. That sent Olivia through the wall of the motel, Devil jumped through the hole after her. I looked away embarrassed.

Maxina

I had stayed up pretty late with Heather practising new spells and ways to defend my mind. I was really tired... it took up a lot of energy.

I woke to a loud knock at the door and the scent of smoke in my nose. Still not opening my eyes I heard Heather walk to the door and open it.

"Yes?" She said sleepily.

"Devil burnt down the place again," I heard Sarah's voice say and I sat up quickly.

"Again?" I looked over at them.

"Yeah... so we have to leave."

Sarah

"Seriously Devil!" yelled Friday "Another motel!"

"It was Olivia's fault," muttered Devil who had her head down in shame.

"Yeah right," yelled Olivia.

I couldn't let them do this to Devil just because she gets easily annoyed. So I decided to step in; "Don't worry Devil they are just jealous of your powers and strength."

"I have the same powers as her, idiot," said Olivia.

"Maybe but you can't use them like Devil can and I said strength too, let's face it you're weak," I told Olivia.

"I am not weak!" yelled Olivia.

"Says the girl who got beaten by Devil when Devil wasn't even trying," I replied.

"Whatever," said Olivia in a mean tone.

"You'll never be as strong as Devil so stop giving her a hard time about it," I said in a strong voice.

Olivia flicked her hair in my face and walked off.

"Thanks Sarah," said Devil.

"It's ok I know that we need strong people in the hotel like you, others need to learn that they can't always the most powerful," I replied and rubbed the soot of my face.

"Thanks but I don't think I am the strongest, Heather could beat me easily," muttered Devil.

"Magic is cheating without it you could be the strongest in the world," I replied.

Devil smiled at me. She never really smiles so if you get a smile from her you know that she likes and trusts you. I like Devil more as a friend than an enemy.
