[ 1 ] the $80,000 vase
"This school has four libraries," Kennedy muttered to no one in particular. "You'd think one of them would be quiet."
Instead, the first year student decided to find an actual quiet place to study in. Kennedy roamed the hallways of Empire Academy, finally stopping at the end of the South hall, where there was an abandoned music room.
Pushing the door open, Kennedy was surprised to find the room wasn't abandoned after all. But it was occupied by The Host Club.
"Welcome." The handsome group of boys said in perfect unison.
When they noticed her appearance, their faces dropped. Kennedy had short hair, thick black rimmed glasses, and a poor excuse for a male uniform. All of them stayed quiet, but there was one who blurted out what they were all thinking. "Oh, its just some boy." He said in a bored tone.
Looking the freshman student over, clearly noticing what the other boys had not seen yet, Calum told his friend, "That's a bit rude of you, isn't it, Lou? I think this guy's in your class, am I right?"
Louis shrugged his shoulders, the bored expression remaining.
"I think I've seen him." Lou said, his eyes looking right at Kennedy. "But he's shy, doesn't really talk to anyone. So no one actually knows much about him. All I know for sure about him is that his name is Kennedy."
"Well Kennedy," A blonde haired boy with blue eyes began in an overly happy voice. "Welcome to the Host Club."
"Yes," Calum smiled knowingly. "Welcome to the Host Club, Mr. Honor Student."
"Oh." Luke gasped in amazement. "You're the honor student we've all heard so much about! You're Kennedy Lynn." He announced while Kennedy hurried to the door, trying to make her escape.
She turned slowly, a cold sweat breaking out across her nervous face. "How do you know my name...?"
"You're infamous around here." Calum explained. "Its not everyday that a commoner gets into our academy. You must have some nerve to be able to fight your way into such an elite school as an honor student."
Did he just call me a commoner? Kennedy thought.
"Thank you?" She said.
"You're welcome." The blonde haired boy strode over to her side, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "You are a hero to other poor people, Kennedy. You have shown the world that even a poor person can excell at an elite private academy. It must be hard on you." He said dramatically, "To be constantly be looked down upon by others."
She scooted away from him. "I think you're taking the poor thing a bit too far."
"Long live the poor!" The blonde boy grinned, his mates clapping for him like he'd just made an inspirational speech. But he still continued talking, "We welcome you, poor man, to our world of beauty."
"i'm just gonna go now." Kennedy said, heading for the door once more.
This time she was stopped by a different boy, "Hey, come back here Kennedy! You must be like a superhero or something, huh? That's so cool!"
This one, she noticed, had the appearance of a tough guy, with a bandana wrapped around his head and a flannel shirt instead of his school blazer, but by what he had just told her, he seemed to be dimwitted and childish.
"I'm not a hero, I'm an honor student." Kennedy corrected him.
"Who would have imagined that the famous scholar would be so openly gay?" The blue eyed boy wondered.
Kennedy turned to look at him. "What...?"
"So tell me what kind of guys you're into." He grinned.
Pointing to a brown haired, brown eyed boy who hadn't spoken yet, he asked, "Do you like the silent type?"
Next he pointed at the boy with the flannel and bandana. "The boysih type?"
"What about the athletic type?" His finger pointed in the direction of a raven haired boy with chocolate brown eyes and tanned skin.
"Or the artistic type?"
"We also have a mischievous type, a musician type, a gamer type, and a hungry type. Or..." He paused for a second, cutting the distance between him and Kennedy. Gripping Kennedy's chin with his thumb and index finger, he brought his face close to the freshman honor student. "Do you like a guy like me?"
Kennedy gulped nervously, pulling away from the handsome blonde boy in front of her. "I didn't come here for this. I was just looking for a quiet place to study."
She took several steps back until her back collided with something she assumed was a wall. But as she saw the blonde boy's eyes widen in terror, she looked back to see a vase fall off a pilar it was resting on.
Kennedy lunged forward, trying to catch the vase before it hit the ground, but the vase was just out of her reach.
It fell to the floor seconds later, shattering into a thousand pieces.
"Now you've done it, commoner." The one named Louis said, crossing his arms over his chest in annoyance.
A different one, a boy with chocolate brown curls and emerald green eyes added with the same level of annoyance. "That was a renaissance vase. We were going to showcase it at the cultural fair next weekend, and then it was going to get auctioned."
"Yeah," The boyish type host nodded, "The biddings were going to start at eighty thousand dollars."
"Eighty thousand...?" Kennedy repeated in shock. She added, "I'm gonna have to pay you back."
"With what money?" The gamer type host scoffed. "You don't even have money to buy yourself a proper school uniform."
"Yeah," The mischievous type agreed, "What's with that shitty outfit?"
Kennedy sighed, "I'll find a way to pay you back. Just give me some time."
"Of course you'll pay us back." The raven haired boy said, already making calculations in his head
"I know how you can pay us back." The blonde haired boy offered as an idea came to him. Kennedy noticed his attitude shift dramatically and his blue eyes darkened as he grinned. "You will pay us back with your body; slave labor to be exact."
"What do you mean?" Kennedy asked.
He replied, "Starting today, you are the Host Club's dog."
