Everything hurt. My legs hurt, my arms hurt, my feet hurt. It felt hundred times worse than my most painful hangover.

It felt horrible.

My head felt heavy as if I was carrying something huge and heavy.

I opened my eyes slowly and close them back again because of the blinding lights. After a few seconds―I open my eyes again, squinting a bit.

Everything was white.

I hate white.

BEEP!

Heart monitor.

I was at a hospital.

"You are awake. Good." A voice speaks from the other side and I see a blonde nurse.

"How is my family? Is my sister okay?" I ask the nurse remembering the accident.

She nods her head and pulls a screen away from the middle and reveals Keagon sleeping on a bed.

"The kid's okay, nothing major." The nurse says.

Thank god.

I could never forgive myself if anything happened to my sister.

"And how are my parents? And my boyfriend? And where are they?" I ask the nurse as I grab a glass and pour myself some water from the jug.

"Your boyfriend has some major bruises and injury, he will be going through surgery in an hour."

Surgery.

It will be fine. I know Kyle is brave, he will be fine.

I know he will be okay, he has to.

"But we couldn't save your parents."

The glass from my hand slips and falls down on the floor breaking into a thousand tiny pieces.

My eyes blur up as I look up at the nurse.

"W-what?" My voice was low, lower than a whisper.

"Your mom, she was very thin and petite. When the crash happened, the air bags were activated automatically and it choked her. She passed away before the ambulance could reach there. We didn't even have a chance. And your dad-he passed away a few minutes ago."

A tear slips by my eyes and I wipe it away. There was a bullet lodged into my chest. It felt like someone was ripping my heart out.

It was all because of a dog.

Dad was driving, mom was eating chips, my boyfriend-Kyle and my sister-Keagon were playing some word game. And I was happy. I was content.

I worked hard through high school, was the best cheerleader, the cuttest guy in class was my boyfriend. And I got into my dream University with my boyfriend.

It was perfect. Kyle had proposed and I said 'yes.' I was so happy. We hadn't told my parents yet. We were going to tell them at the family gala.

We would have a small, nice, beach wedding. And we were going to spend a month in Bora Bora for our honeymoon, just like Kyle wanted.

It would've been perfect.

But then the dog came in the middle, dad tried to put the brakes but it seemed like the brakes weren't working. Dad swerved the car into a tree and mom screamed. Kyle wrapped his arms around little Keagon to protect her. It all happened so fast.

I could do nothing.

The fucking dog ruined my life.

"And I am not supposed to say this," The nurse's voice brings me out of my thoughts. "The doctors predict you have less than an hour."

"I am going to die too?" I ask. I didn't feel sad that I was going to die, I felt numb.

It's okay, my parents died.

What does it matter if I am alive or not?

But I'll be brave no matter what.

The door opens and a doctor enters. He thrusts his hand out to me. "Hello Ms Eaton. I am Dr Hall, the chief doctor here." He says and I shake his hand gingerly.

"You may leave Meredith." He says and the nurse leaves.

"Your dad, he hit his head hard and his body went into brain dead stage," Dr Hall says. "And at the same time, a businessman has a coronary heart disease and needed a heart transplantation. Your father's heart matched. The business man's wife wants to speak to you."

The door opens and a sophisticated lady walks in. She gives me a small smile and the doctor leaves.

In an hour, the lady managed to make me sign the contract.

"Thank you." She says before leaving.

I was satisfied.

Keagon was going to be okay, after all.

I sigh as I get comfortable in the sheets and close my eyes to sleep, never to wake up again.
