Toko Fukawa x Male Reader

I've been playing the first Danganronpa for the first time, and  I fell absolutely in love with Kyoko and Toko, so here's a chapter for her.

Kyoko will probably get one in the short future.

"Hey Makoto, who's that?" (Y/n) leaned over to his friend as he lightly gestured towards a quiet girl with a pair of glasses.

Right before Makoto opened his mouth, the girl met (Y/n)'s curious gaze, only to look away and begin to nervously bite down on her fingernails.

"Ah well...." Makoto scratched the side of his cheek nervously before responding hesitantly. "She made me promise to never tell anyone after she told me, sorry...."

(Y/n) looked at the Ultimate Lucky Student with blank eyes before letting out a sigh in response to an apologetic shrug from Makoto.

"Alright, I'll just go ask her myself," (Y/n) rose from his spot and began walking over to his peer's seat, and as soon as she realized he was approaching her, she looked away, as if it would make (Y/n) disappear if she didn't see him.

Without a word, (Y/n) knocked on the girl's desk to grab her attention. Gladly, she slowly turned and reluctantly gave him what he wanted.

"W-What do you want?" She questioned, stuttering nervously as she did.

"Hmm... I wonder, what do I want? Do you have any ideas?" (Y/n) teased, throwing a question back at the girl as he sat down in a nearby empty seat and gave her a smile.

"W-Why would I know? Y-you probably came over here to make fun of me, like everyone else...." Her eyes darted away from (Y/n) as she spoke, nervousness coating her words.

"This girl really has a full-on stutter... it's been a while since I met someone like that. Cute."

"Nah, I'm not really a fan of making fun of people. That takes way too much effort," (Y/n) shrugged, silently observing the girl's features.

"Th-Then what do you w-want?" The confused girl asked, causing a grin to come onto (Y/n)'s face.

"Ah, I just remembered. I'd like to know your name," (Y/n) snapped his finger, as if the thought had just come back to him.

"N-not like you'd remember anyway, but... I'm T-Toko... Toko Fukawa," The girl, Toko, hesitantly introduced herself.

(Y/n) looked at his peer with interested eyes before giving her a soft smile.

Toko silently looked at (Y/n) before her eyes darted away and her two index fingers touched each other cutely. A faint red hue spread across her face as she nervously looked down at her fingers.

"Wh-What? Y-You're not supposed to stare you know. D-Don't stare at me like I'm some sort of farm animal or s-something!" Toko's expression morphed into a scowl as her mind shifted to a more negative place.

"Problems with self-esteem? Or could it be problems with people? Ah shoot, I'm doing it again...." A much more awkward and genuine smile came onto (Y/n)'s face as he shook his hands in front of his face.

"Ah, I didn't mean for it to come of like that. Sometimes I get lost in thought," (Y/n) apologized, causing Toko to look away with a forced look of disinterest on her face.

It only lasted for a moment before she turned back to (Y/n), her fingers nervously tapping one another.

"W-What's your name? I-It's only fair for me to know since you know m-mine!" Toko defended her question, as if (Y/n) was going to oppose her before he even got a chance to speak.

"Well, in that case, I'm (Y/n) Yamasaka," He held his hand out for a handshake, but after he said his name she was simply not there anymore. He waved his hand, but he only received a small giggle in response.

Toko's face was absolutely flushed, as if she was dreaming in her own little world.

"Toko?" (Y/n) lightly tapped her shoulder, pulling Toko back from her distorted fantasies.

As she came back down, her face lit up with utter glee as she made eye contact with (Y/n).

"Y-You! Y-Y-Y-Y-You!" Toko yelled stuttering and repeating herself over and over again.

"Yes, I am me, what of it?" (Y/n) held out his hand in an effort to give Toko his full attention.

"Wh-What did you d-do to me?!" Toko questioned, her tone absolutely demanding an answer that (Y/n) simply didn't have.

All he could do is shrug.

"No idea, we'll probably figure out what it is soon though, I'm pretty sure we're friends at this point anyways," (Y/n) hummed, causing Toko's eyes to widen as she froze up.

"F-F-Friends?" Toko repeated, as if saying it again would give the word any different meaning.

"Yes. You're cute and you seem nice to be around," (Y/n) complimented, but instead of a blush he expected, Toko's face distorted into an expression of utter disbelief and anger.

"Y-Y-You m-monster! Y-You're trying to trick me!" Toko yelled, catching (Y/n) off-guard.

"Huh?"

"You're n-nice words and nice f-face! It's all a l-lie!" Toko rose from her seat frantically, running out of the classroom quickly.

(Y/n) tried to call out to the fleeing girl, but only a strained sound of confusion was forced out of his mouth. In her fleeing, Toko had left behind her bag without a care in the world.

"You... left your bag," (Y/n) spoke to himself as he saw the door shut behind Toko's fleeing figure.

With a low hum, (Y/n) picked up the bag and walked back over to Makoto, sitting in his previous spot.

"She's certainly an... eccentric one," (Y/n) spoke as a small smile came to his face, and Makoto could only silently nod in response.

"She certainly wasn't what I was expecting at least...." Makoto agreed.

-----

(Y/n) sighed as he walked through the silent halls of Hope's Peak Academy, Toko's bag in hand.

"I don't really want to go to her room, but it would be worse to hold onto this and have to talk to her about it later, especially after her reaction today," (Y/n) let out a sigh before abruptly stopping in his tracks.

"I'm already here? Ugh, maybe I should just give it to her tomorrow, it's pretty late anyways. But, after her explosion earlier I don't know if I should even go talk―Ugh! I'm overthinking it too much. Just give her the bag and it'll be fine," With a deep breath, (Y/n) knocked on Toko's door three times.

It felt like an absolute eternity for (Y/n) as the sounds of the night slowly invaded his mind and forced his heart to palpitate irregularly.

"Y'know, maybe I will just leave. She's probably asleep anyways. Oh well," (Y/n) turned on his heel, and started to walk away, only to hear the soft crack of a door behind him just as he did.

"Y-You...." Toko looked down to his hand, noticing her bag in it. "You came to bring me back my b-bag?"

Her face lit up and turned a deep shade of red as (Y/n) slowly nodded. He turned back around on his heel before handing Toko back her bag.

She took it with a small giggle.

"Th-Thank you," She took the bag back, giving (Y/n) a small awkward smile.

"Yeah, it's no problem. Just make sure to take care of yourself. Forgetting your bag certainly can't be the best thing for you," (Y/n) joked, hoping to ease the awkward environment that he felt growing between himself and Toko.

"Y-Y-Yes! O-Of course I'll take care of myself!" Toko giggled, and even though (Y/n) found her response a little odd, he gave her a genuine smile in response.

"That's good. Okay, I've got to get back, but I'll talk to you later. If that's okay with you, of course," (Y/n) turned to walk away, but surprisingly, Toko went out of her way to lightly grab (Y/n)'s wrist to stop him.

"I-I-I'd love to talk t-to you more!" She yelled, bringing a smile to (Y/n)'s face.

-----

It was lunch at Hope's Peak, (Y/n) was sitting next to Toko on a bench outside of the large school.

"She said she wanted to talk more but...." Toko sat in silence as a blush covered her face. She was twiddling her fingers happily as she looked at (Y/n).

"We're not actually saying anything!" (Y/n) mentally groaned before taking a moment and taking a deep breath.

"Toko?" (Y/n) lightly coughed, causing a massive smile to emerge from on the Ultimate Writing Prodigy's face.

"Y-Yes? I-If you want to talk to me, I c-can't stop you!" Toko giggled happily, twirling her fingers around one another.

"Well, I'm really bad at remembering everyone's Ultimates, but if I remember correctly, you're the Ultimate Writing Prodigy, correct?" (Y/n) questioned, bringing a smile to Toko's face.

"Y-You remembered?!" Toko giggled to herself, causing (Y/n) to nod nonchalantly.

"Well, of course. Something like the 'Ultimate Writing Prodigy' has a ring to it," (Y/n) grinned, lightly gesturing to Toko.

"I wanted to ask, besides write, what else do you do in your free time?" (Y/n) asked.

"W-Well, I normally just study," Toko stuttered out, her eyes darting all over the place as she did.

(Y/n) waited for a moment, raising his eyebrow in an effort to encourage Toko to continue talking.

"W-Well, I d-don't hang out with i-idiots like others do!" Toko yelled nervously, slapping a hand over her mouth right after she spoke.

"I-I'm so s-sorry! I b-bet you hate me now! I-I'm sorry, d-don't hit me!" Toko put up her arms in defense, nervously covering her head.

(Y/n) looked at her with curious, squinted eyes.

He lightly put a hand on her forearm, causing her to flinch before she slowly opened her eyes to see a small calming smile on (Y/n)'s face.

"Friends don't hurt other friends, so don't worry too much," (Y/n) softly grinned, sending an electrifying chill up Toko's spine.

Her eyes grew wide before her face very quickly shifted into one of utter glee, the corners of her mouth twisting upwards awkwardly.

"Is there a reason why you don't hang out with others?" (Y/n) asked, causing Toko's gleeful expression to slowly fade until it was completely gone.

"I... don't have friends," Toko smiled awkwardly, even if the smile was somewhat forced.

"Hmm... well, I guess that's over now, huh?" (Y/n) grinned widely, surprising Toko.

"H-Huh?"

"Well, obviously the times of you being friendless are over now. After all, I'm here now," He hummed, only gaining a nervous silence from Toko.

"I-If you are my f-friend, w-what genre do I w-write?!" Toko pointed at (Y/n), objecting on his positive statement.

"She's stuttering more now. Is it a sensitive topic?"

"It's romance, right?" (Y/n) hummed, heavily surprising the insecure writer.

"You a-actually know?"

"Yeah. I'm not gonna lie and say I know absolutely everything, but I do remember that your books are rather well known. They influence things a lot. One of your books caused fishermen to shoot up to the top of the 'Hottest Men' polls," (Y/n) closed his eyes and tried to remember the name of Toko's book.

He didn't notice that Toko's face shifted from utter surprise, to forced disbelief, to reluctant happiness, all the way to fully natural glee.

"It was called... 'So Lingers the Ocean,' correct?" (Y/n) asked, opening his eyes again and noticing Toko's absolutely flushed face.

She looked at him in silence, but even without any words he understood what she was thinking. It was all in her eyes, a sudden sense of fascination and pure adoration brimming from her eyes.

"Well, things don't seem to be totally horrible," (Y/n) thought as he gave Toko a small smile.

Surprisingly, she gave him a very small smile back.
