"But Adaaaaamm!" Kai whined, "I don't wanna go!"

Adam sighed and rested his face in his palm. Adam, Kai and Mira had been invited to Vanessa's house for sort of a celebration, for getting through the Hollow a second time. There was no more bad blood between them, but Kai still refused to go.

"Why though? Are you that desperate to stay home and play games all day?" Adam asked.

"Yes!" Kai replied quickly, "Staying home and playing game is how I celebrate!"

Adam knew this would happen when Mira sent him to pick Kai up for the get-together. He walked over and sat on the and if Kai's bed.

"Well, I'm not going to let you celebrate alone." Adam said and Kai's face lit up with a smile, "What co-op games you got?"

"Really? You're gonna ditch the party and hang out here with me?!" Kai couldn't stop the grin on his face as he set up his large, flat screen tv.

"Yeah. I'll just tell Mira you're not feeling well and that I'm looking after you." The other said as he got out his phone.

"You're the best!" Kai said, sitting in the bed and pulling Adam into a quick hug.

Adam blushed slightly at the contact. He couldn't understand why every time Kai hugged him, he felt butterflies in his stomach. Kai pulled away and pressed start on his controller, handing a second one to Adam. They played for hours, both being good in different games. Adam crushed Kai in any melee fighter games, but Kai was the ultimate winner in anything that benefited from extremely accurate aiming.

"Ah, I'm beat!" Kai said as Adam beat in another fighting game, laying back on the bed with half his legs hanging off the edge.

"How about we go get some food?" Adam suggested standing up and stretching out his arms.

Kai watched as Adam stretched his arms forwards and back, noticing that Adam was quiet flexible. He noticed that Adam's arms were slightly toned, and couldn't help but wonder what he looked like without a shirt on. Quickly he looked away from his friend and stood up as well.

"I guess we can go outside for food quickly, but when we get back, I've got a new game I've been dying to play." Kai said walking to the door of his room, "Mira suggested it to me, saying it's probably a kind of game I've never played before."

"Mira suggested it?" Adam repeated and Kai nodded, "Ah, I can guess what kind of game it is."

The two friends went down to one of Kai's favourite places and brought some donuts. They set up again in Kai's room and started the game. Before he got to the menu, a video played. Adam immediately recognised the game as one of Mira's dating sim games. He'd played a few dating sims before, and he didn't mind them too much. Okay, maybe he did go through a phase where he would play a bit of one daily.

"Oh, a dating sim!" Kai said once the short music video at the start finished, "Ah, looks like a classic otome game!"

"I think this is one of More's favourite ones." Adam said, "She really likes the quiet, Why types in these games."

"Ooh, we get to name the character!" Kai said, ignoring Adam a bit, "What should we call it?"

"It's your game, you get to choose." Adam said, "How about just call it Kai?"

He typed 'Kai' into the game and it started with another quick video showing off each of the characters.

"It looks like there's five guys to choose from..." Kai said, he never failed to get engrossed in any game.

"Oh, I've played that guys route." Adam said, pointing at the tv when one of the characters was being introduced, "I got the good ending."

"Oh yeah, I forgot you can different kinds of ending with these games!" Kai said, reading each person's dialogue carefully, stopping when he came across a choice to make, "Ah, Adam, what do I do?"

"Well, who do you want to 'romance' in the game?" Adam asked, doing air quotes when he said romance.

"I dunno, I kinda like this guy?" Kai pointed to one of the characters.

"Ah, I see." Adam said with a small laugh.

"What do you mean 'I see'?" Kai said, imitating Adam.

"Nothing, nothing, it's just that that character is so..." Adam thought how to say it nicely, "So basic?"

"Are you implying that I'm basic for choosing a boring character?" Kai said, faking an offended face.

"Haha, of course not." Adam replied, stuffing a donut in his mouth.

Adam happily watched Kai play the game, laughing when Kai made the wrong choice while eating donuts. Kai made no effort to avoid making a mess on his bed as he ate the donuts, only making sure his controller stayed clean.

"Oh, Mira's calling me." Adam said as he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket.

He stood up from the bed, walking near the door of the room.

"Adam, how's Kai feeling?" Mira asked, her voice slightly crackly from the phone.

"Oh, about that..." Adam smiled behind the phone, "Actually, he's fine. Has been all day "

"Urgh, I thought so." Mira said, "Have you been hanging with him all day?"

"Yeah, we were just playing games."

"'Just playing games', hey?" Mira said, and Adam could almost hear the smirk on her face.

"Shut up, we were." Adam said, slightly quieter then before, the quickly checked Kai was still engrossed in his game.

"You need to make a move soon, before Vanessa does." Mira said, "She was asking about Kai a lot today."

"You know I'm not gonna do anything, I'm fine being friends since he obviously doesn't like me that way." Adam sighed.

He'd begun harbouring a crush for Kai during their second run of the Hollow, and maybe even in their first run. He never did anything about it, thinking Kai had a thing for Vanessa.

While Adam talked on the phone, Kai looked over at his taller friend. He watched as he rolled his eyes with a grin and hung up the phone. Before Adam could notice his staring, Kai turned back to his game.

"What did Mira have to say?" Kai asked.

"Oh, she was checking up on you." Adam said, laying back on the bed.

"You sure you're not bored?" Kai asked as he played his game.

"Nah, I'm fine." Adam said, watching Kai rather than the screen.

Kai shrugged, "If you say so."

Kai saved the game and sighed. He clearly wasn't good at this dating sim. He flopped back on the bed next to Adam.

"The good choices are so obvious, I don't know how you're messing up so badly." Adam said with a laugh, "That character is the easiest of them all."

"I'm trying!" Kai sighed, "Ah, I've never been good at romamce..."

"Hah, I can see that."

"What about you? I bet you're worse then me." Kai rolled over so he was facing Adam.

"Oh, I'm not too bad. I've had a couple relationships before." Adam said with a smug smile.

"What?! No way!" Kai said, "'Dating' in kindergarten doesn't count!"

"Well, then that's 2 people I've dated." Adam said.

"What! No way!" Kai said, propping his head up with his arm.

"Uh, yes way." Adam said, "Okay, to be fair, one did even last a month."

Kai flopped back on his back, staring up at the ceiling, "Did you ask them out or the other way around?"

"They asked me, in both cases."

"So you've never initiated the relationship?" Kai looked back over at Adam, and he nodded.

"To be honest, I didn't like either of them." He admitted, then laughed, "It's just, when you're young and gay, you don't have many options."

"I guess not."

They laid there in science for a bit, both unknowingly thinking of the other. Adam sighed at the thought of Kai asking Vanessa out, or via versa, while Kai wondered just how close Reeve and Adam were before.

"Hey-" they both said at the same time, laughing after.

"You first." Adam said, sitting up and leaning against the head of the bed.

Kai sat facing him, "No, you first."

"Haha, fine." Adam smiled softly at Kai, "Do you like Vanessa?"

"Huh? Course I do, she's a great friend." Kai said, looking slightly like a confused puppy.

Adam shook his head, "No, I mean like like her."

"Oh." Kai turned a deep shade of pink, "Nah, I don't like her like that."

"But you like someone like that, don't you?" Adam said, seeing how embarrassed Kai was.

"Uh, well, y'see, I would tell you who, but it's kinda embarrassing..."

"Is it Mira?"

"Oh, no! I'm over that whole thing." Kai said shaking his head.

"So who is it? Skeet?" Adam continued guessing.

"Are you gonna keep harassing me until I tell you?" Kai asked with an awkward laugh.

"Yeah, I am."

"...You promise not to be awkward after I tell you?" Kai fiddled with his thumbs.

"Hey, I promise." Adam said, leaning forward and grabbing his hands.

"...Uh, well, I like you..." Kai said, barely audible, his face bright pink.

Adam couldn't help ghe grin on his face, quickly putting a hand over it. Kai was looking down at his hands and hadn't noticed Adam's reaction.

"Why in the world would that make me awkward with you?" Adam laughed, "I mean, I guess if I didn't like you back it could be weird."

"Wait, so..." Kai looked up, "You like me that way?"

"Yes." Adam replied seriously.

Kai moved slightly closer to him, "So, would you be willing to, uh, date me..?"

"Of course." Adam said and Kai's face lit up.

Kai hugged Adam, wrapping his arms around Adam's neck while his arms rested around Kai's waist. They stayed like that for a few moments, with their heads resting on each other's shoulders.

"Adam, can I, uh, k-kiss you?" Kai asked once they separated.

"Sure." Adam said, not making any jokes about first kisses or kissing guys knowing this was important to Kai.

He wanted for Kai to initiated the kiss, but Kai was being slow and just staring at Adam's lips. Slowly, Kai moved closer to Adam, leaning over him slightly and leaving about an inch between their lips. Kai almost chickened out, but Adam moved quicker and closed the gap. Kai was shocked for a second, but melted into the sweet kiss. Adam didn't know how far it would be okay to go, but gently bit Kai's bottom lip. Kai was confused for a second but then opened his mouth. It was a long and deep kiss, and only separated for their need to breath.

"...Well?" Adam said as Kai leaned back on the bed.

His face was almost completely blushing, and he had the stupidest grin, "That was great..."

"Haha, well, there's more where that came from." Adam winked at Kai, who laid back on the bed completely, grabbing a pillow and hiding his face with it.

So that was like almost twice as long as I usually write things, even for school there's always a 1000 word limit that I try to stick to for fics, but like bam. This happened. V tired now. Gonna nap maybe.

Hopefully this was as cute as I imagined it to be! The next one is gonna be set in the real world, after they left the game 😳😳
