Chapter 1
The ash brushed his cheek as the power pushed him to the ground. Park was never completely up for a fight, but he had to protect his school. Even if it meant looking into the eyes of a death eater. But he didn't want to imagine that. Not now.
He was at the edge of the explosion. If he took one more step, he would be gone. He thought that it was caused by a death eater. He couldn't help but think about the countless people in the flames, in which many may not recover. Or worse.
He couldn't bear the thought and hurried over to the recovery room. The only time he stopped was when he came across a mirror. His normally messy hair was out of control and he was covered in ash. His shoes and shirt were torn up. Still, he pulled himself together and continued running. If you would call it that. He never was very fast.
He passed burned up hallways, fights between a death eater and an auror, and even some brave students.
When he reached the room, we'll he just thought he looked like a model in comparison to the people in the marble white beds. Madam Pomfry was coming over.
"Would you please make yourself useful and get those bandages?"
She seemed to be going over to a little girl he recognized from the Hufflepuff common room. He thought her name was Emme? Emily? She must have gotten a bad curse on her leg. It was mahogany and bright red and went from her toes to her waist. It was as wide as his hand. The worst part is, her bone was showing a few times. It pained him to see a 11 year old come to hogwarts for education and gets blasted with a curse. Her eyes were full of tears.
He used Accio (his favorite spell) to get the bright yellow bandages and gave them to Madam Pomfry.
"This is gonna be a rough day" She said to the screaming girl with dark skin and puffy eyes.

Kan-Lee was halfway to the exit when she heard a yelp that sounded like her best friend Eddie. She may not be a very good fighter, but at least she could try. She knew she might not make it, and the odds were worse for her, but she was in Ravenclaw after all. Hopefully her studies would pay off.
She ran. She had a knack for running. The wind blew in her hair as she speeded toward a black and white figure. She wanted to get a closer look. She wished she hadn't.
A Death Eater was standing straight in front of her.
She went through the spells she knew. Stupify, Expelliarmus, but stopped at the sight of Eddie on the floor, eyes open. Before she could scream, the death eater shouted:
"Crucio!" She yelled for help. She cursed under her breath. A student ran toward her. She had light skin and dark hair.
"Petrificus Totalus!"She said to the death eater. He shot back with his hands to the side. She helped her up. Kan-Lee had a limp.
"Thanks,"She said "By the way, what is your name?"
"Ember. Ravenclaw. You're welcome. What is your name?"
"Kan-Lee Jacobs, I'm a Ravenclaw as well."
"That's so cool. We should sit down." They sat down on a wood bench outside the Castle. Kan-Lee was crying and rubbing her eyes and Ember put away her wand.
"Who was that, on the floor?"
"His name is Eddie"
"Sorry."
"What's your favorite class?" She said, trying to break the ice.
"It was Divination but now I wish I focused more on Defense Against the Dark Arts." Kan-Lee said with a smile.

She checked a calander. May 2nd. It was Avery's 16th birthday. No candles, no presents, no cards. No Abby. Abby was her best friend at home, but because she was a Muggle, she couldn't be with her.
She walked alone. All her friends were of somewhere else, fighting, and here she was, moping around. A bit longer and she wou-
"Suprise!" She yelled. Wait, Rebecca? She handed her a card. "It isn't much, but it's all I could pull of. It was a picture of us hold ingredients hands, then smiling. On the back she drew another moving picture of me blowing out candles on a pink cake.
"Thanks Rebecca, you're the best." Avery said smiling. Suddenly, the area went cold and dark. The happiness the card brought faded. A Dementor was right there, going for her and was already at Rebecca. Before it reached her, she grasped her wand.
"EXPECTO PATRONUM!" A gaint white and blue stallion pranced out of her wand.
"That was brilliant Avery!" She said.
"Not when you've made a cake explode!"
