This imagine was requested by @jumpingmanatee and it comes from Tumblr; Imagine making Thorin jealous unintentionally. This time it went in another direction then I expected. I am afraid I kind of lost the imagine in the process. Just tell me if you want me to re-do it!
The roar of laughter from across the table had you looking up and kept you from falling asleep once again. You were thankful for it because there were a lot of guys in this tavern who had been staring at you all evening. And you didn't like it at all. The dwarves had insisted on spending money on ale and a nice, warm bed when they finally arrived in a small town again. Thorin was apprehensive at first because the town was known for it's robbers. But he had no other option then to give in when Bilbo refuged to take another step if he wasn't allowed to sleep in a bed tonight.
So, here you were. You were sitting at the head of the table, in between Thorin and Dwalin. You were the only lass in the Company so naturally, and especially, the dwarves felt very protective over you. No one would come near their lass as long as they had a say in it. Who did those men think they were anyway?
You didn't care for ale as much as the dwarves but it had been a welcome change to not so clean water. And the soft bed was something to look forward to. The ale was flowing and tales were shared as the night grew darker and the tavern more filled with men. You felt outnumbered as the only woman in the tavern but thankfully you still had your dwarves. Bofur, at some point, got up on the table together with Fili and Kili and started to sing another song that sent the whole tavern into a singin mood. Alcohol was great for binding races, wasn't it?
You were tapping along with your foot because you didn't know the words. The mood was so much better now. Thorin got up from the table and walked towards the wall to lean against it. You stared at him as he walked away, not checking out his ass at all. Why would you? It wasn't like it was the most perfect behind you had ever seen in your whole life. You were just making sure he arrived safely without anyone trying to stab him or anything. That was what you told yourself.
The night went on and you couldn't help but to stare at the Dwarf King who had distanced himself from his Company. You thought it wasn't so obvious that you were staring, just like you thought it was't that obvious that you were in love with the King. It was clear to the whole Company. Accept, of course, for Thorin himself.
Dwalin looked to his right and found that you were staring again. He elbowed Gloin carefully, who now looked at you too. They exchanged knowing looks and Dwalin carefully tapped your shoulder. It still scared you and you turned around so quick that you almost fell from your chair if it hadn't been for Dwalin holding you tightly. He could feel the dark eyes of his King in the back of his head. Dwalin huffed. He should be thankful that he had captured his One before she landed on the ground. If he only would have stayed here and talked to her, then he wouldn't have to do this in the first place.
'Watch yourself lass, otherwise I won't even ask you my question. Did you have too much ale?' he asked jokingly. You rolled your eyes at him. 'I only had one mug' you answered. Dwalin and Gloin laughed. 'Aye, lass, that's what he said. Did you have too much?' Seriously? Dwarves...
'Here' Dwalin said and shoved a mug into your hands before you could turn around and ignore him again. 'I don't want another one' you said, trying to shove the mug back at him. 'It isn't for you, you had too much already. This one is for Thorin. You can take it to him' he announced, picking you up from your chair and putting you down on the ground. 'Shouldn't you ask me if I want to take it to him or not?' you asked, not sure why he didn't take the ale to Thorin himself. 'Because you have to prove to me you can hold your liqour lass. If you can walk over to him and back without spilling, then I will get you anything you like' he said and gave you a small push to get you started.
You send him an angry glare but walked towards the King anyway. He saw you coming long before you arrived, keeping a watchful eye over you as you made your way through the drunk man. If one of them only dared to put so much as a hand on you... Thankfully you arrived safe and sound. You smiled at him and bowed, handing him his mug of ale. He nodded. 'Thank you, (y/n).' You smiled and wanted to turn around when he cleared his throat, making you stop. 'Do you have to leave so soon?' he asked, not meeting your eyes. Taking this as an invitation to stay, you also leaned against the cold wooden wall next to him.
Together you stood there in silence. Though not an uncomfortable one. This was kind of your thing; being close to one another without having to talk. You liked to spend time with him and just do your own thing. He never made you talk to him, neither did you make him. There were words shared every now and then but it was fine if there was silence. Clearly you were both too blockheaded to understand the other one returned your feelings.
He would stare at you every now and then from the corner of his eye. Checking if you were safe and doing alright. He would make sure you got more food then the other's on the road. And occasionally he would drape his fur coat over you when you were shaking in your sleep. But he made sure to get if off of you before you woke up in the morning.
'Hey gorgeous! Did you just fill from the noght or... Bert, how did thut one go again?' a man slurred as he let his eyes wander over your body without any shame. Before you could tell him to back off, Thorin had pushed himself off the wall and stood in front of you to shield your body from the men. 'She is not interested in low lives like yourself' he hissed dangerously. It wasn't effected because the man had had too much ale for the night, but you were sure that if he was sober he would have melted under Thorin's gaze. 'And whu do ya thunk ya are little men? I can use you as my tuuth pick if A wanted tii!' the man said, holding his large stomache as he laughed.
'Thorin, it is alright, just ignore him' you said, placing a hand on his shoulders. Thorin's muscles relaxed under your touch but he wasn't done with the men. 'You better watch your mouth and keep your eyes to yourself before you will find your throat slashed' the dwarf threathened. 'Let the lady talk, she sooms smirt! Do you nut want to bi woth a guy like me?' the man asked, moving closer. You felt disgusted with the idea of even giving the men another look.
Because of the alcohol he couldn't react in time and found himself pinned against the wall with Thorin against him and the knife against his throat. 'Stay away from her, she is taken. Did I make myself clear?' he hissed. The man nodded as drops of sweat ran down his face. 'A-aye I understand master Dwarf, I won't ever do it again.' Thorin held him pinned against the wall for a few seconds longer, looking the men straight in the eyes. If the message wouldn't sink in like this, then nothing would do the trick.
Finally he released him and the men ran away as fast as his little legs could carry him. Thorin looked at his disappearing body as the men tried to hide himself behind his friends. Thorin reclaimed his spot next to you against the wall and wrapped a protective arm around your waist, pulling you close to him. 'I didn't know I belonged to you' you spoke finally. He send you one amused look before he continued to glare at the other men who dared to look at you. Suddenly, they all found their ale much more interesting. 'Now you know. You will stay with me tonight, no one else will come near you.'
You chuckled. 'A bit jealous, aren't we?' you joked. Thorin looked at you with raised eyebrows. 'It is alright, I would feel jealous too if there was a woman eyeing you.' Thorin smirked and resumed glaring at anyone who couldn't keep his eyes to himself.
