This imagine was requested by @trinityLOTR; (before The Hobbit takes place) You are a maid and you and Thranduil are secretly seeing each other, you end up pregnant.

It had been going on for so many nights now. He would send you that look and it Always meant the same to you. So many promises and secret desires were hidden in those eyes that it drove you mad. He knew how much you wanted him, long before he had even told you about his desire for you. He knew how to play you just so that you felt like you could almost touch him, but you never could. Until that one day he walked into your bedroom and showed you places you had never dreamed to go to before. You have had lovers before but the King was able to make you forget about all of them.

And you were only his maid.

Not that he saw you as just that. You were so much more to him. Even though he was afraid to admit it to himself. He had loved his wife so many decades before. Until the devastating day he had lost her. No one knew what had happened exactly. Some whispered that the Queen had died giving birth to Legolas. Some say she ran away with an elf from the lower guard. Others said she simply disappeared and no one knew where she had gone. You had tried to ask the King yourself but it had ended in not spending time together for a few weeks.

It was still an open wound for the King. A hole in his heart that you were glad to fill. At least, that's what you thought. You were spending so many nights together and shared your deepest thoughts. To you it started to feel like there was more then just lust. More then just the sleepless nights spend in each other's arms. You never noticed the name he whispered when he came.

You looked so much like her. The same hair color, the same stubborness and the same look in your eyes when you disaggreed about something. It drove him mad that he could have a piece of his wife back but not her entirely. There were times where he didn't want to be with you anymore. He felt like he was going mad. He knew that it wasn't healthy to see his dead wife in you. But it was the only time he felt like she was with him again. The only way he could hold her once more.

Everything had to be done in secret. No one could know about the late nights you spend together. He kept a close eye on you to make sure you didn't speak about it with the other maids. He himself was sure that it meant nothing more to him then a chance to see his dead wife. To you it was the world, the light in your day. If only you had spoken to each other about this difference in your feelings...

Your fairytale was doomed to fall the day you missed your period. You didn't tell Thranduil immediately, not sure if you were really pregnant or not. It had been a while since you had done anything. Unbeknownst to you, he wanted to stop the late night visits and focus on his son.

After a week, you couldn't ignore the facts anymore. You went to see the Elven Healers and they told you what you already knew. You carried the baby of the King. With joy in your heart you ran towards the Royal Chambers. He would be so excited once he found out he would be a father again. You could already picture the bright smile on his face. He wore it rarely, but it fitted him nonetheless.

Impatiently you knocked on the door to his chambers and waited. As soon as he said 'Come in', you threw the door open and ran inside. He looked at you with a warning in his eyes. You calmed down a little and closed the door discretly behind you. His eyes hadn't changed. Maybe something had come to his attention and had angered him? Why else would he be so upset. You would make him smile again. You were sure of it.

You bowed before him but met his gaze right afterwards. 'Why are you here?' he asked, his voice as cold as ice. A sharp pain shot through your heart. 'I- I just wanted to tell you something, my King' you said, hurt evident in your voice. Thranduil studied your face carefully. He tried to determine if you had visited him for personal matters or important ones. 'Then speak.' You couldn't believe how he spoke to you, maybe this wasn't the right time to tell him after all... 'I can come back later if you are busy' you started, but he raised his hand to silence you.

'You are here now. Let's not waiste more of my time, speak.' Doubt filled your thoughts as he spoke to you. This wasn't the King you had spend so many nights with. You gathered your thoughts and reached for the last straw of courage you owned. 'I'm pregnant, my Lord' you spoke softly. His mouth dropped, his eyes widened and then... his face turned sour.

'I don't know why you came to me with this news. The baby is not mine but I suppose I should congratulate you. You are hereby to leave my Kingdom and never come back' he said and turned around, away from you. 'What do you mean my Lord? I- We have shared the night together more then once now. You were my first and last, there have been no other then you. The baby is yours' you said, your voice pleading. You heart a snort escaping Thranduil's mouth.

'You have to leave Mirkwood, I won't hear another lie coming from your lips. You are talking to your King, not to a lower elf. Have no illusion about where you stand in this Kingdom' he said, his voice almost a hiss. You felt the tears building up in your eyes as you watched Thranduil in disbelief.

'What we had was special, and you know it' you tried but Thranduil just shook his head. 'If you don't go now, I will be forced to call the guards and lock you in one of my cells. Is that what you desire?' he mocked. You gave him one more disbelieving look and then left his room.

The King had just banned you from your two homes. Mirkwood, and his heart. You weren't sure he would ever accept the fact that he had another child walking on this earth. And in time he would prove you right.
