Imagine Kili teaching you how to braid your hair ~ Part 2

This second part was requested by @kzeismer; A second part to the imagine, you find out about the courting braids and you are upset until you save Kili/he saves you and you realize how much you care for him.

They were teasing you. And you didn't like it one bit. At first it had been fun and you were able to laugh with them. Then it had started to get on your nerves. And now it was just annoying and you wanted it to stop. Somehow they had managed to get it into their thick skulls that you and Kili were a couple. You didn't know how and you frankly didn't want to know why, but they shipped you. That was the only reason you could come up with.

One night, you sat by the fire with the rest of the Company when you decided it was time to take the braid out that Kili had put in your hair. You had enough of it and didn't like it anymore as it had come undone over time. The second you put your hands on your hair and started to get the braid out, was the same time the whole camp fell silent and all eyes were on you. You stopped immediately, understanding you had made the wrong move by removing the braid on your own.

'What? What did I do?' you asked concerned. You really did try to not upset the dwarves and to not break boundaries in dwarves tradition but it was hard if they didn't tell you what those traditions were... 'Lass, if you want to break the courtship with Kili off, then you should talk to him about it' Balin said carefully. 'It is a cruel thing to do, showing everyone around you that the courtship is over without discussing it with your suitor first' Nori backed him up. Your eyes grew wide and you stared at Kili in shock. 'What did you put in my hair?' you asked.

Kili shrank on his log and tried to hide from the rest of the Company. Thorin glared at him, letting him know that apparently he had some explaining to do. The brunette straightened his shirt and looked at his boots. 'I- I forgot to mention to (y/n) what that type of braid resembles...' he muttered. You put a hand in front of your face. 'You put a courting braid in my hair without me knowing?' you said, feeling the anger built inside of your veins. Realization dawned on the dwarves and they looked at Kili with disgust in their eyes. 'You should be more respectful of our traditions lad. This is no way to treat a lady' Dwalin growled at him. Kili looked at you, asking for forgiveness but you stuck your nose in the air.

The poor dwarf looked like he wanted the ground to swallow him whole but unfortunately, it wouldn't do so. 'I will think about what I have done behind that tree there' Kili said, pointing at a tree that would keep him hidden from the angry eyes. He got up from the log and tried to move fast but as he did so, he didn't see the rock in front of his foot and tripped over it. The angry looks on the faces of the dwarves turned into horror when Kili fell, head first, towards the fire. You and Thorin were the first to react and tried to save him from a lot of pain. You both reached for his shoulders to pull him back on his feet. Kili got afwully close to the fire before you both got a good hold of him and yanked as hard as you both could.

The brunette saw the flames almost licking his nose and was happy to feel something was trying to save him. In that small time of hanging above the fire, a few things crossed his mind: Braiding a courting braid in a woman's hair without them knowing it? Bad idea Kili. Running off to hide behind a tree and not looking where you place your feet? Bad idea Kili. Almost landing in a fire head-first and having your lady safe you? That could have gone worse, Kili.

Kili was back on his feet, a frightful smile on his lips. 'Well, that could have ended in a lot f pain if it wasn't for you two' he managed to say. He just tried to light the mood. Thorin was about ready to give him a piece of his mind when you interjected. 'Do you have any idea what a complete and hopeless idiot you are?! You could have burned your face with the risk of killing yourself just because you want to hide behind a tree! At least try to act your age and man up when you make a mistake! Or, here is an idea, watch where you put those overly large feet of yours when you walk!' you were screaming.

The dwarves were looking at you with confused faces. You had never been one for shouting and always told the others that they should talk about things instead of yelling. Apparently that advice didn't apply to you. Kili looked down at his boots. For how long had that mud been on there? 'Look at me when I speak to you.' His eyes immediately shot back up to you. 'Do you have any idea how worried I was for your safety? How do you think I would have felt if I lost you? I don't know what I would do if something would happen to you, you... dwarf' you finally finished.

Thorin was half-smiling at Kili who also understood what this meant. He didn't deserve a whole smile for his actions but his uncle was happy for him that you felt something for his nephew. The eyes of the other dwarves softened as well. There was love in the air (play song).

'You mean, that you love me (y/n)?' Kili asked carefully. You glared at him and Kili took a step back. Then, you rolled your eyes at him. 'Of coure I love you. Come on, just kiss me already.' Kili looked as happy as a fish and dove in to wrap you in his arms and give you the sweetest, longest kiss you have ever had.
