I thought this would be cute. Your a young dwarf, much younger then him maybe Fili's age (or around there). You find his locket picture thing, sorry I don't know what its called, and ask him of it.

It was a long walk from camp to camp every evening, so Mirkwood was a difference. You were placed in a cell with Gloin, a new friend of yours.

You noticed something shiny fall out of his pocket as a few of the other dwarves smashed his face against the cell door. You picked it up as Balin told them it was no use.

The mood darkened around your cell, you looked closely at the item and found two different pictures of two different dwarves, a youngling and a woman.

You walked to Gloin, and handed him the item.

"You dropped this a minute ago." You said, with a sigh.

"Oh boy! Thank you for finding that lass! I don't know what'd I do without it." He held it close in his hand.

"Who are the dwarves in the pictures? I apologize for snooping." You said, sitting beside him against the stone wall.

He smiled at you and opened the item to the pictures.

"Aye, this one is my lovely wife! Ain't she a beauty." He looked adoringly at the picture, you smiled and agreed.
"And this is my wee lad Gimli!" He cheered his cheeks rising due to his big smile.

"You have a real lovely family Gloin." You said kindly.
"I hope to meet them when we return."

The smile on his face faded in disbelief.

"You will return to your family Gloin, I promise you that."

"Aye lass, don't give promises you can't keep."

"You will return to your wee lad even if its the last promise I give." You gave him a sincere expression.

"You have many years to live (y/n), don't blow them away for the sake of a promise." He felt guilty, almost as if you had died.

"A promise isn't true if you don't commit to it, life and death is uncertain, but no need to worry of me Gloin, I still have to meet your lovely wife and wee lad." You both chuckled.

"Your a real special lass (y/n)." He smiled at you.

You returned the smile.

"Keep hold of that picture Gloin, you don't want to lose it to another dwarf smashing." You said, before going to a corner of the cell and staying there, in silence until Bilbo came hours later.
