You looked at him, he was talking to his brother, Kili, leaning up against a rock while smoking his pipe.

His sight was concentrated on the fire, neither of them noticed your glance. Although, you didn't notice Thorin's.

You got up from your spot on the ground and walked off from the camp, not far enough to get lost, the company were still in sight, but out of ear shot, they couldn't hear you crying. You let the tears fall.

You felt like such a child, you were in love with a prince that would never feel the same.

It had been years, you never told him your feelings.

The other girls around the iron hills were absolutely mad about him, but their feelings quickly faded when another dwarf came for their attention. But not you, your feelings stayed, no matter who came along.

You had sat against a tree, hidden, when a voice startled you.

"(Y/n), are you alright?" You whipped your gaze to the soft voice of Fili.

"Yes, I'm alright." Your voice cracked and you cursed in your mind that he saw your tears.

"Then why are you crying?" He sat next to you, he placed an arm around you and you shoved it off, he couldn't push your feelings deeper.

"I had something in my eye." You said wiping your tearstained eyes.

"Yes, tears." He said smartly. You held a chuckle back.

"No, Fili. I am fine."

"Tell me what's wrong."

"Nothing's wrong."

"Don't lie."

"I'm not lying."

"Then what's wrong?" You had enough.

"I love you! Okay? I always did! When all the girls had a crush on you I may have as well but it didn't stop at a crush okay? Little things like that arm around my shoulder, the fact that you'd comfort me when no one else would I'm sorry but there is no possible way I will ever stop loving you. I thought I could hold it in forever but I can't, you've won. Are you happy now?" You snapped looking at him, he stared at you dumbfounded. He was silent for a while, you felt awkward so you stood up.

You felt like you just lost your best friend, over being in love with him.

"Yes." He said, softly. You looked down at him confused.
"You said am I happy now, well I am." He said with a smile.

He stood up and took your hands in his.

"I am happy that you return my feelings, for you are the only girl I have ever had eyes for. Since we met." He said looking into your eyes.

"Why didn't you say anything?" You questioned.

"Same reason you didn't. Believe it or not, when I found out you were coming on the journey to Erebor with us, I spent the whole night planning how I was going to confess my feelings for you. But I lucked out when I saw you. Practicing on my brother really didn't help, especially since he fell asleep half way through my confession." You chuckled.

"So you...love me?" You paused half way through.

"With all my heart." He smiled adoringly at you.

You reached up and he leant down, until your lips connected. You felt as though a big weight was lifted off your shoulders, the butterflies were swarming like mad in your stomach.

You separated for air and heard a laugh from behind the bushes. Kili popped up.

"FINALLY." He sighed, you and Fili laughed at his brother before finding each others eyes again.

"I love you (y/n)." He said, sincerely.
