Bard

Your his wife and he comes home late one night from work.

You paced around the kitchen, Bard was never late coming home, in fact he was never late for dinner.

It was quite late and the children were gone to bed but you couldn't go to sleep worried that something happened out on the water. You knew how well Bard knew the waters but your mind couldn't help but wander.

You looked over to your children who were sound asleep. Before deciding on an instant to go find Bard.

You put your coat on and quietly opened the door. You went to the main of Lake Town to see if Bard's boss was still awake.

*****************

"I'm sorry (y/n) I've been waiting up too, he hasn't come back for a check in yet." His boss said

"This is ridiculous he's never been late like this, something must of happened!" You paced for another few minutes.

"I have to find him." You said.

"No (y/n) its much too dangerous at nightfall. Give him time, I'm sure he's safe." His boss said calmly.

"Go home to your children and get some rest, I will inform you if he returns."

"Alright." You said softly.

Maybe you were too panicked. After all Bard was born and bread on those waters. He knew his way.

You gave a soft smile to Bards boss and said a quick 'thank you' before rushing back to your children.

****************

You sat at the table impatiently. You constantly glanced at the door. It was nearly morning by now.

You had a few lanterns lighting up around you.

You glanced at the door once more before you felt a little hand on your arm, you turned around to Tilda.

"Ma.." She said.

"What are you doing up Tilda?" You said softly to your little one lifting her onto your lap.

"Where's Da?" She rubbed her eyes.

"He's alright Darling, don't worry." You said also trying to convince yourself.

"Then why aren't you sleeping?" She said, she's always been brilliant to see through people.

"I'm just waiting up for him, he's only a bit late Tilda. Ma's always wait up for Da's. But children need their sleep, so come on, its time to go back to sleep." You said softly. She nodded, practically already asleep in your arms.

You put her in her bed, you sat with her until she fell asleep. Singing sweet lullaby's.

***************

You looked out the window next to the door and saw the sunrise. You looked back to your children before walking outside the door. You had a blanket around you, still in your dress from yesterday.

You stared at the beauty of the sky, before you heard your name from the bottom of the stairs.

"(Y/n), why are you awake?" You heard the voice you had been longing to hear all night.

"Bard." You said softly running down the stairs and hugging him tightly.

"I was worried sick, where were you?" You said letting go of him.

"The job went late, I was told to go farther, I'm sorry darling, I didn't mean to worry you." He said.

You kissed him, both of you smiling in the kiss.

"Its alright." You said after separating.

You both walked up the staircase, Bard explaining what had happened.

You entered your home tiredness overtaking both of you. He looked over to both of your children and smiled.

"Let's get some sleep before they awaken." He said making you smile.

You both fell asleep quickly, you snuggled into his chest and his arm around your shoulders.
