Raised by King Thranduil was a very difficult thing for Legolas and Lasgalen while both of them were growing up as adolescents and a Prince and Princess of the Woodland Realm in Mirkwood. Both of these siblings always enjoyed each others company and loved to get out of the palace freely to play around the gardens or scout in the woods. But however, their father, King Thranduil always forbade them to leave the Realm for no apparent reason. One afternoon, when Lasgalen and Legolas were about skip to the tall gates excitedly armed with daggers, bow and quiver of arrows, they were stopped by the King again.

"Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah. Where exactly do you think you two are going and WHY?" He demanded.

"Just going to the forest for scout." Lasgalen smiled cheekily. "With hanar."

"Yeah!" Legolas said bravely. "We just wanna go grab some fresh air."

"No!" Thranduil said in a hard voice. "Absolutely not! You are still far too young to scout the woods. It's dangerous out there!"

"But we're teenagers!" Lasgalen said, sass to her pitch. "How do you know that the forest is dangerous? You've never even been there!"

"I sense many darkness and evil around that forest, Lasgalen." Thranduil circled around his two children, trying to hide the main reason. "A shadow that reaches as far from Dol Guldur where the Necromancer dwells."

"Oooh, we're so scared." Lasgalen said in a baby voice and rolled her eyes.

"Whatever." Legolas waved his hand at him in dismay. "You're just trying to scare us, Ada. We're still going out scouting anyway." Then he grabbed his sister's hand and the siblings headed to the gates, gave the two armored guards a nod and fled out out of the palace and into the Mirkwood forest.

"Legolas! Lasgalen! You-!" Thranduil called out to his children as he turned to he gates, but it was too late. Legolas and Lasgalen were nowhere to be seen out there.

"Don't forget you need to be back by dinner!" Thranduil yelled out. Then he turned to an adolescent she-elf with red hair and one of the Woodland guards nearby. "Tauriel, Hérion." He called up to the two Elves.

"Yes, my lord?" Tauriel and Hérion walked up to the King and asked at the same time.

"I want both of you to watch over Legolas and Lasgalen." Thranduil said in a cold and serious tone of voice. "They left the palace armed with their weapons when I told them not to go. Make sure you both keep them accompany. You know that forest is full of danger and has grown sick by the dwelling of the Necromancer, and I fear for the worst."

"I hear and obey, my lord Thranduil." Tauriel bowed to the King as well as Hérion.

"Both of you must bring them back here by evening." Thranduil finished. Both Tauriel and Hérion hurried to their rooms, changed into their armour and travelling clothes and grabbed their weapons. Then both of the Elves rushed out of the Woodland Realm as King Thranduil wished them luck and hopes to come back alive with Legolas and Lasgalen.

"Why is King Thranduil always have to be that protective of us people?" Hérion asked Tauriel.

"I know, right?" Tauriel said. "He's been way too protective of Prince Legolas and Princess Lasgalen ever since they were elflings. I always think that the King is hiding something in order to protect this land."

Legolas and Lasgalen spent minutes walking around the green forest covered with twisted trees, just laughing and skipping in circles around the tree trunks. The skies of the leaves and branches stood above them, giving them lots of shade with a patch of sun.

"Ha-ha!" Lasgalen laughed. "We finally got our chance!"

"Yeah!" Legolas said to his sister. "I really love the scent of the fresh air in the forest! It's great to see even more nature and interesting things out here than at home."

"Me too, hanar." She replied. "This place is a lot more fun than being trapped in the palace! Would you like to play hide-and-seek with me?"

"Sure, why not?" Legolas smiled.

"Alright, I'll start." Lasgalen said as she walked up to the nearby tree and hid her face to it. "One, two, three, four, five..."

Quick as flash, Legolas ran to the trees until he could barely hear his sister's voice of her counting. With his keen and intelligent eyesight, he just wanted to make sure that she stayed safe and was able to find him.

"Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty...Ready or not, here I come!" Lasgalen finished as she marched around the forest to look for her brother. "Hanar!" She called out. "Hanar, where are you? Come out, come out where ever you are!" Lasgalen spent the next five minutes searching for Legolas and tracking him down, but she gets bumped into Tauriel and Hérion on the way.

"Tauriel! Hérion!" Lasgalen shouted. "What in the name of Valar are you two doing out here?!"

"Your highness, we..." Tauriel tried to explain but Lasgalen wouldn't let her finish.

"Please don't tell me that my Father brought you up to this!" She whined, stomping her brown leather booted feet. "I'm not a baby anymore!" Lasgalen slumped on a nearby rock and crossed her arms, irritated.

"What's going on over here?" Legolas said as he came out of one of the trees he was hiding when he heard the commotion.

"What the...Tauriel and Hérion?" His eyes went wide open.

"We're sorry, hir nin Legolas." Hérion bowed his head. "The King has been worrying sick about you and Lasgalen after you both left. He told us to accompany both of you here and be back home by evening."

"But isn't it too early to go back?" Legolas said. "It's not even evening yet. Why does Ada have to be too protective of us all the time?"

"Yeah!" Lasgalen said, raising her voice. "Ada tricked us into coming to these woods all ourselves by bringing you two up to this issue. You both don't have to listen to what he says. Hanar and I can take care of ourselves."

"My lord and my lady." Tauriel began to reason with the two royal siblings. "I understand you're annoyed and if I upset you but, Mirkwood has been infested with evil creatures for a long time; especially spiders and occasionally even Orcs. More of these living beings come in numbers from Dol Guldur almost everyday, and sometimes wandering and scoping around these woods is a suicide. It is unpredictable when these horrors will come near us four. We must get you two out of here and back to the palace."

Legolas and Lasgalen fell silent. They thought and contemplated for a few minutes on whether they still want to stay put in Mirkwood or go back home for safety. Then, Legolas finally made his decision. "Well, if that's what you and Ada thinks, maybe we should get going." He said. "Lasgalen?"

Lasgalen got up to her feet and brushed the dirt and dust off her travelling clothes. "Alright, hanar. I guess we_" She was cut off when a crooked arrow pierced her bicep. Lasgalen cried out and dropped to her knees, clutching her wound.

"Lasgalen!!" Her brother screamed as he just saw what had just happened, and started running to her aid. Orcs appeared out of the trees and started to charge the four Elves.

"You stay away from them!" Tauriel yelled as she fired her first arrow at one of the Orcs. Same goes to Hérion as he pulled out his daggers and sliced every Orc approaching nearby. Legolas helped Lasgalen to remove the arrow from her arm, but she cried out when the arrow was finally removed thanks to Legolas' strength. Despite her arm injury, Lasgalen slowly got up and killed as much Orcs she could with all her might, teaming up with her brother, Tauriel and Hérion.

As more Orcs came out of their hiding spots and ran towards the four Elves. They were determined to wipe off the horrid creatures out of Mirkwood. When the Orcs sneaked behind Lasgalen, she was flipped around and a jagged blade pierced her stomach. Clutching the wound, Lasgalen fell to her hand and knees.

"Awe, what a beauty." An Orc Captain said as he grabbed Lasgalen by the hair. "Such a shame that she would have to suffer this pain." Too weak to move swiftly, she glared up to the Orc that could almost kill.

"We keep this one, boys!" He yelled to the other Orcs as he held Lasgalen up by the neck.

"Don't you dare touch my muinthel!" Legolas yelled to them, but he was restrained by Tauriel and Hérion.

"If you want this lovely little beauty of yours, die alongside with her." Another Orc mocked him.

"Don't...listen to them, hanar!" Lasgalen managed to breathe while calling out.

"SHUT UP!!" An Orc Captain yelled and she made a face at him. "Take the rest of these Elf scums in captivity!" The Orcs tied the four Elves in long chained ropes, covered their faces with dark cloth bags and ruthlessly dragged them away.
