Let's face it. We all know what is going on in the world right now. Not just with covid-19, but also with yet another black human that was killed by the police. 

I really hope that at some point in time we don't have to specify what someone' skin color is. That at some point we see each other as human beings and can treat each other accordingly. But apparently we aren't there yet.

It's not my place to educate anyone, mainly because I'm still educating myself on this topic. I do, however, feel the need to also let my voice be heard. Because there are a lot of people who aren't heard. In some cases they are not heard because of their skin color.

The least that I can do is spread some awareness here. Maybe you are sick and tired of hearing about it. But I think that the black community is also sick and tired of not being treated the same way as white people are.

Black Lives Matter. 

Before you say: All Lives Matter... We are not there yet. 

As I said, it would be beautiful and amazing if we one day get there. But sadly we aren't there yet. Of course every life matters. Right now though, we have to stand up for the people who are not yet heard. 

You can compare it to this: When you say All Lives Matter and that Black Lives Matter isn't right, then you are basically saying that when the fire department arrives in a street, they shouldn't immediately go to the one house that is burning down because of a fire, but that they should first go to the houses that have nothing going on.

Black Lives Matter. The black community in this world is the house with the raging fire right now.

They need our help and we need to stand up to let people know that we are not alright with this.

If you are protesting, then please do so in a respectful and safe way. If at any point you feel unsafe, even in the slightest, then try to leave that area. 

I hope that you are all safe and sound are there. If you ever need someone to talk to, then feel free to contact me. I may not understand you or know what you're going through, but I can listen. 

I still have to learn a lot myself about this topic. So I'm educating myself so that I can learn and grow. In this world I am very fortunate that I'm white. And that shouldn't be a thing.

These are scary times. So again; please be safe.

Hopefully one day, we can respect one another for who we are, not for the color of our skin.
