Imagine wedding arangements with Thorin

Because I was missing the lighter chapters that don't include a lot of thinking and planning, here you go :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A pair of icy blue eyes drill into yours.
He swallows visibly, a drop of sweat rolling down the side of his face. The room is eerily silent. The tension is swelling as you sit across from each other.
His hands come up from under the table. Placing a finger on the contract, he pushes it towards you. "You just have to sign this and then we can start preparing for our wedding." He keeps looking at you as the contract is now laying in front of you.
The quill is within your reach.
You shake your head. "We still need to discuss the details, Thorin. We both know that we not of the same race. Getting married and preparing our wedding needs to be discussed" you point out.
Thorin frowns. "Yesterday you told me that you liked living here, that you started to appreciate the dwarven rituals. Has that changed since then?"
A chuckle slightly lifts the building tension. "Just because I start to understand your rituals doesn't mean that we can ignore mine. There are a couple of details from a human wedding that I would like to see included in ours. Is that too much to ask?"
He quickly shakes his head, no. He pulls the contract back. "Not at all my beloved. It is just that..." He sighs. "I am royalty. There are things that need to be done in a certain way."
You nod, stubbornly reaching for the contract and pulling it back to yourself. A small smile forms on Thorin' lips.
"And I understand that. But looking at the contract I can't help but to notice that there is room for some of the things that I would like to see included in our wedding." You look up to meet his eyes, your look challenging.
"Very well. What would you like my dear?"
You clear your throat as you pull out a list from your pocket. It rolls open dramatically, reaching the floor and continuing to roll along to the other side of the table where it halts.
Thorin looks down at his feet. The writing stops at the bottom of the parchment. He blinks.
"First things first. I would like to have our ceremony hall decorated with flowers. Preferably red ones because they symbolize love." You wait for him to response.
After his advisors, Dwalin and Balin, nod, Thorin turns back to you. "Agreed. Let's add white flowers for contrast."
You both agree and it is written down on the new contract that a poor scribe is scribbling down in the corner of the room.
Happy with this first step you continue down your list. "Truth be told there are some rituals amongst humans that I disagree with."
Thorin nods, feeling his tense muscles relaxes now that the discussion is going so well. He didn't expect thing to go as smoothly as they appear to be going right now. He expected there to be more frowning and yelling.
Mostly on his part.
"For example, there is something called 'a bachelor/bachelorette party'. I have no interest in that and frankly I don't want you to have one either." You skimmed over some points on your list.
"What is a bachelor party?" Thorin asks. When he looks at his friend for help, Dwalin simply shrugs not knowing the answer.
You make a dismissive gesture. "Nothing important. It is a last celebration of freedom, as some man call it. There is usually a lot of ale involved and naked woman for the groom. And naked man for the bride." With your finger on the parchment, you try to find the next important point on your list.
"Naked man?" Thorin asks. His blood start to boil.
"Hmmhmm" you hummed. "But that is something neither of us want. I presume." You look up, see that Thorin has turned red, and quickly continue to your next point. "Not spending the night together the night before our wedding is something I would like to incorporate though."
Thorin' eyes widen. "That is not going to happen" he says, visibly shaken.
 You frown. "Can't you see the romantic side of it?"
"Allowing for hired assasins to kill my beloved as easily as they would kill a fly? Excuse me for not seeing the 'romantic' side of it" he spits.
You roll your eyes. "Not this again. Just because I would be in another room than you doesn't mean that I will get killed. Of course I expect there to be guards outside of my room. I wouldn't be staying somewhere outside of this mountain."
His nostrils flare dangerously wide. "I will not spend any of my nights away from my wife. I am the one who will protect you! How can I promise your parents that you are safe with me when you are not around me during the night?"
"Technically speaking I wouldn't be your wife the night before our wedding" you point out.
He slams a fist on the table. "Enough! You won't spend that night away from me."
You shrug. "Very well. Then I do want our vows to be more personal." Before he can say anything you add; "I do understand that it must include some vital points. However, I think we can make them more personal."
Thorin thinks about it, checks with Balin and Dwalin, and then he nods. "Very well, I agree. We will write our own vows. With the included neccessary parts" he says, a warning to his tone.
"Agreed."
The scribe frantically writes everything down.
"Also, I would like my dress to be blue. I know that there is something with you dwarves and precious fabrics, but blue stands for purity in human weddings. The golden dress looked lovely but the color blue is important to me."
This time Thorin didn't need the back up from his advisors. "Word shall be sent to the dress shop immediately." He waved for a servant to come closer. "Do you agree with the Durin royal blue color, my love?"
You nodded. "That would be lovely."
He turned to the servant who had appeared. "Tell miss Gwin that the color of the wedding dress is to be changed." The servant nodded before rushing out. "Anything else you would like to add my love?" Thorin asked, eyeing the long list that disappeared under the table.
You smiled sweetly. "Actually, I just wrote down the same points a couple of times so that you would be intimidated by the size of it." You rolled the parchment up on your lap. "I thought this would be a lot easier if you thought you would be sitting here for some time."
"Thank Mahal for that" Dwalin muttered under his breath.
Thorin chuckled. "Well played, âzyungâl. That is why you will make a fantastic queen." He got up when you did, reaching for your hand to place a kiss on the back.
Fun fact; I looked it up and blue symbolized purity and virginity instead of white. I always thought that was a reason for why most wedding dresses were white, but it apparently isn't.
Rich families actually chose bold colors to show off how rich they were. Because marriage back then was more about politics than love. I just thought I would mention that ^^
